I never learned to play chess. Darn.
But, I refused to play igadget. Sometimes the slothful,
TV addicted/gadget addicted, obese fellow citizens (and
the growing plethora of undocumented) simply disgust
me. Not that I am guiltless. Yet, in my waning years, I
am trying to make up for it. The Germans have a saying
about how soon we grow old, and how long it takes to
to grow smart.
Sad.

Microsoft puts screensavers on my computer everyday. Most are nice pictures of some exotic place or animal. Today was a picture of ‘Space’ with a little caption that said only 6.4% of women college students major in STEM fields and fewer than 1% in computer science. I bet the majority of women STEM students are in the health sciences too.
Women outnumber men 60% to 40% as medical doctors. All most all the Dermatologists at the NE PA Medical Center are female. Dermatologists are the Prima Donnas of the specialists as you have to be in the top five of your graduating class to be accepted.
My dermatologist is a woman. I asked her why she chose dermatology as a specialty.
Her reply was that she could work from was 9-5 and never had to worry about after hour or weekend emergency calls.

Russian children learn to play chess at a very early age, while our kids are dressing up as some Disney princess and that’s the boys.
My daughter likes to play chess online but says the Russians are too advanced for her, she will usually lose to them. Probably some grade school Russian kids kicking ass on the internet.

What the USA WAS, Russia is BECOMING. Putin/Lavrov 2020.
Russian scientists are outstanding. Russian universities don’t have “gender studies” “black studies” etc, in their curriculae….

Russians enjoy chess, ballet, the symphony and literature. Everything Americans hate. Clearly we are natural enemies as they are obviously barbarians with no appreciation for democratic values.

Derm is the most sought after specialty accepting the top Med school grads only because of its lifestyle (no ER call and regular work shifts, no weekends,etc) and its high compensation. Often it is a high volume practice with income supplemented by private pay cosmetic stuff. It isn’t as intellectually challenging as many internal medicine specialties nor as high stress as surgical specialties. Derm cynically summarized: if the rash is wet, dry it; if it’s dry, wet it. When in doubt, put steroid on it and ultimately take a biopsy.
Hair color determines which side to sit.
