Michael Flynn Charged With Lying To FBI, Set To Plead Guilty

Tyler Durden's picture

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has charged former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn with “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to the FBI regarding conversations with Russia’s ambassador. Flynn, in turn, is expected to plead guilty in a DC court to making false statements to FBI agents in January 2017, according to the court filing presented below. The plea hearing is set for 10:30 am ET.

  • COURT FILING SAYS FLYNN FALSELY STATED HE DID NOT ASK RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO REFRAIN FROM ESCALATING SITUATION AFTER U.S. HAD IMPOSED SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA
  • COURT FILING SAYS FLYNN FALSELY STATED HE DID NOT RECALL THAT RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TOLD HIM RUSSIA HAD CHOSEN TO MODERATE ITS RESPONSE TO U.S. SANCTIONS AS A RESULT OF HIS REQUEST
  • COURT FILING SAYS FLYNN FALSELY STATED THAT HE DID NOT ASK RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO DELAY VOTE ON PENDING UN SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION AND THAT AMBASSADOR NEVER DESCRIBED RUSSIA’S RESPONSE TO HIS REQUEST

Michael Flynn is now the second person involved with the Trump campaign to admit wrongdoing in Mueller’s probe into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia; he is however the first Trump administration official charged in relation to Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and aide Rick Gates were charged with money laundering from alleged crimes that took place before they worked with Trump. A campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI earlier this year over contacts with officials connected to the Russian government.

After he left the administration, Flynn filed a foreign registration form showing that he hadn’t disclosed multiple contacts and payments from foreign entities while serving as a campaign adviser to Trump starting in February 2016. The company received $530,000 from a Dutch company working on behalf of Turkey’s government, to lobby the U.S. for extradition of an exiled cleric who has opposed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey. He’s also disclosed payments from the Russian news site RT, described in an unclassified U.S. intelligence report as “the Kremlin’s principal international propaganda outlet.”

The news about Flynn comes a day after CNN reported that Jared Kushner had met earlier this month with Mueller’s team as part of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the election, according to two people familiar with the meeting.

The question is whether as part of the plea Flynn will ‘reveal’ something about Trump, because if 6 months after the Mueller probe the best he could get out of Flynn is making a “false statement” about meeting the Russian ambassador, then Trump has nothing to be worried about.

This is just like it’s okay for the police to lie to you, but you can’t lie to the police. Fuck the FBI and all their Obama holdovers.

You can lie to police. You cannot lie to Federal Agents. That means FBI, IRS (note that one especially!), Homeland security, ATF, etc. Lie to them and go to jail.

I’ve come to the conclusion that this guy managed to keep us out of nuclear war after Hillary had sold enough Uranium to the Russians to annihilate us. So, he’s getting an International Award for that, right? When you say “Charged” you are being facetious, right? Like “I do Declare you to be a Hero!”

I’m fairly sure that Russia ALREADY has enough uranium “to annihilate us”.

MarshRabbit,

Another Marxist, Clinton apologist rears his ugly self. However, seeing as this is a blog that fails to constitute a courtroom I will cite just SOME of the crimes the bitch could be and should be indicted under. These being just SOME of her felonious activities during her tenure at State Department. She broke the law concerning the handling of classified information under 18 U.S. Code, Section 793, using her private email server to circumvent official channels and records. Then we have:

2. 18 USC, Section 798: Disclosure of Classified Information
3. U.S. Code 1924: Unauthorized Removal & Retention of Classified documents
4. 18 USC, Section 207(b): Concealment, Removal or Mutilation, Generally
5. 18 USC, Section 641: Public Money, Property or Records
6. 18 USC, Section 1505: Obstruction of Proceedings Before Departments, Agencies or Committees
7. 18 USC, Section 1031: Fraud Against the United States
8. 18 USC, Section 1343: Fraud By Wire, radio or television
9. USC 371: Conspiracy To Defraud the United States

The above just for starters MarxistRabbit. I won’t even venture into the start of the bitch’s crime spree….the Whitewater criminality. Seeing as I am not drawing up the indictment against the despicable H. Clinton you’ll have to be satisfied with the minimal charges I would present.

In closing, the supporters and apologists for the Left are what has given citizens the likes of the Clintons, barry soetoro and other communists of their ilk. As for you….GFY !

FWIW !

As I divined the leaky news reports of old, I came to believe that it was Flynn that was compromised by videos of him cavorting with leaking courtesans in the Motherland. Or maybe he took the heat for another. Or was made to pay baksheesh to keep it quiet. I freely admit I am given to flights of fantasy. I laughed when Putin spoke on the matters when he was quoted as saying “(Russian prostitutes) are undoubtedly the best in the world.”

Dang it, I still cannot copy and paste links. the quote is on Vox from Jan. 17, 2017

Sessions was an establishment plant. Stupid Trump wanted Gulliani but got tricked into Hee Haw.

It’s too late for the establishment. They didn’t count on the Church of the NFL going too hell.

The resistance will pick up pace. The Supper Bowl will be canceled. No fans, no viewership, no sponsor s. The Impeachment of Trump will not go as scripted.

Flynn will plead guilty for lying to the same FBI that claimed Hillary Clinton never “intended to violate” their law.

Flynn isn’t very useful to prosecutors. A self admitted liar to both the FBI and Vice President Pence why should anyone believe anything he says now to get a reduced sentence?

Any prosecutor will tell you they have to put bad guys on the witness stand because members of the church choir generally don’t have knowledge of criminal activity. Flynn’s credibility will be decided by the jury.

It is one thing to use a convicted criminals testimony to convict another person of a KNOWN crime. For example a murder, a burglary, a robbery or other offense known to have taken place. It is entirely another matter to use the testimony of a convicted perjurer to establish that a criminal offense occurred especially when that testimony was ‘bought’ by prosecutors in exchange for a reduced sentence.

In the former case Flynn could testify he saw Donald Trump shoplift golf clubs from Walmart were Walmart to have reported they had been the victim of a theft of golf clubs. If Walmart didn’t report a theft of golf clubs then Flynn’s accusation would not establish that Trump committed a crime.

a couple of points–

why shouldn’t flynn be able to lie about this to mueller’s team?do you think flynn didn’t know about mueller’s hillary/uranium connection and mueller’s facilitation of the deal?
flynn was conducting foreign policy and should be able to lie to anybody except a closed door session of a congressional committee or the potus.

unless flynn is really about to reveal mucho caca about trump or his family,i believe mueller has run out of steam and this is a face saving effort.

Flynn should have known better than to lie to the FBI, he should have just taken a lead from Hillary whenever she was questioned and developed a memory loss (it’s hard to prove a lie about this) or at least had an attorney present to advise him on how to answer the questions they asked him.

Flynn was incredibly naive and, for a man who spent his career in intelligence didn’t seem to have a lot of it personally. First of all, he shoud have known that others would be jealous of him landing the post of National Security Advisor and would be looking to stab him in the back. This is Washington and the Deep State hated Trump.

His other problem was that he hadn’t yet gotten rich cashing in on his 3 star inside the beltway status though he was trying as witness his activity on behalf of Turkey ( which he also lied about ) so when shit came his way he did not have the resources to lawyer up like Hillary or other big names that come under investigation.

Good point, unit. The dumbshit should have known that Obama had weaponized the resources of the NSA against his political enemies and was privy to everything he said and did. That’s what likely set this whole investigation in motion.

Mike Rogers warned Trump in Trump Tower in the days after the election. He wasn’t taken seriously enough. From that instant on, all communications should have been by hand-carried notes, swallowed after being read – like messengers to Bin Laden did. Even now every room Trump is in should be presumed to be bugged. You can’t “sweep” a room for a laser microphone.
