The Earth’s Magnetic Field Is Shifting, Poles May Flip: “This Could Get Bad”

“The shield that protects the Earth from solar radiation is under attack from within. We can’t prevent it, but we ought to prepare…” is the ominous sub-headline of a worrisome new report that shows scientists around the world fearing that the earth’s magnetic field is shifting, with potentially disastrous consequences for mankind.

As SHTFplan.com’s Mac Slavo notes, scientists from the University of Colorado in Boulder are sounding the alarm that the Earth’s magnetic poles are showing signs of reversing. Although the pole reversal, in and of itself, isn’t unprecedented, the solar winds that would take out the power grid and make parts of the globe uninhabitable could cause widespread disasters.

The Earth has a fierce molten core that generates a magnetic field capable of defending our planet against devastating solar winds.  This magnetic field is vital to life on Earth and has weakened by 15 percent over the last 200 years. This protective field acts as a shield against harmful solar radiation and extends thousands of miles into space and its magnetism affects everything from global communication to power grids.

Historically, Earth’s North and South magnetic poles have flipped every 200,000 or 300,000 years. However, the last flip was about 780,000 years ago, meaning our planet is well overdue.  The latest satellite data, from the European Space Agency’s Swarm trio which monitors the Earth’s magnetic field, suggest a pole flip may be imminent.  The satellites allow researchers to study changes building at the Earth’s core, where the magnetic field is generated. Their observations suggest molten iron and nickel are draining the energy out of the Earth’s core near where the magnetic field is generated. While scientists aren’t sure why exactly this happens, they describe it as a “restless activity” that suggests the magnetic field is preparing to flip.

The signs of the Earth’s poles reversing are also apparent to Daniel Baker, who says this would devastate the power grid.  If a switch happens, we would likely be exposed to solar winds capable of punching holes into the ozone layer. In a new report, Baker, who is the director of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado in Boulder, claims if this reversal happens, it is likely to render some areas of the planet “uninhabitable” by knocking out power grids.

Baker’s comments were made in an in-depth Undark report written by Alanna Mitchell, who has a new book about the topic titled “The Spinning Magnet: The Electromagnetic Force that Created the Modern World and Could Destroy It.”

“The dangers: devastating streams of particles from the sun, galactic cosmic rays, and enhanced ultraviolet B rays from a radiation-damaged ozone layer, to name just a few of the invisible forces that could harm or kill living creatures,” Michelle writes.

 “This is serious business,” Richard Holme, Professor of Earth, Ocean, and Ecological Sciences at Liverpool University told MailOnline.

“Imagine for a moment your electrical power supply was knocked out for a few months – very little works without electricity these days.”

“No lights. No computers. No cellphones. Even flushing a toilet or filling a car’s gas tank would be impossible. And that’s just for starters.”

Researchers predict that in the event of a flip, every year a hundred thousand people would die from the increased levels of space radiation. Radiation at ground level would increase so much that some estimates suggest overall exposure to cosmic radiation would double causing more deaths from cancer. “Radiation could be 3-5 times greater than that from the man-made ozone holes. Furthermore, the ozone holes would be larger and longer-lived,” said D. Colin Forsyth from the Mullard Space Science Laboratory at UCL.

Scientists who support the Electric Universe theory have a much better hypothesis of the why’s and how’s on the Earth’s magnetic field. The REAL issue is the current solar minimum that we are going into and how the lower sunspot count and solar irradiance will affect weather here on earth in the immediate future. A pole flip MAY be in the cards, but a solar minimum is now all but guaranteed, we’re likely headed into another glaciation period, and history shows this can happen MUCH faster than previous theories allow for. It doesn’t take millenium, we’re talking years.

Here’s the REAL problem…

The IQ of a human is determined by the electricity generated by the color of their skin. The darker the skin the lower the electricity which means the lower their IQ. What does skin color and IQ have to do with this problem?
Since those lower IQ and lower levels of electricity are congregated mostly in one area of the world, the poles be outta da wack homes.

The electric universe theory is the ticket!
Solar minimum implies less of a galactic current input to the Sun = less current input into Earth = less of a magnetic field.

Basic electrical theory. Too bad mainstream science still refuses to see it.
Pole reversal just means current goes into the south pole instead of north…or vice versa. The trillion $$ question is how long will it take? Therein lies the fear mongering.

A pole flip and ice age would definetly “thin the heard”….at least it would.put an end to much of the modern pedantic nonsense that they are always pushing on us like 3000 genders, et al.

I doubt there is a lot of overlap, but even so, if fear-mongerers try to use this phenomenon, it would be a different set of motivations and outcomes from globull warming. GW is fundamentally about environmental worship & building socialist systems. Pole flipping and electric universe theory are not connected to these motivations, as far as I have seen. This is not to say that they couldn’t be used for nefarious activities, but thus far it’s good science. The main thing to keep in mind with pole flips and sun/earth magnetic phenomenon, is there is nothing we can do to stop them, only prepare, adapt, and harden our technology as much as possible. There are indeed potential dangers, but seriously, if we can’t figure out some ways to get thru it using our big brains, maybe our species just neesd to go by the wayside, lol.

Various people have been talking about an imminent pole reversal for the last 30 years (maybe before that, that’s when I became aware of them).

It’s happened before and will probably happen again.

Like maybe in the next few minutes or maybe in the next few million years.

I prefer to concentrate on things I have some degree of control over instead of wasting my efforts on things I don’t.

FWIW, the Sun is going to burn out someday too.

Phenomena…mystery w/ no answers?, or explainable with homo erectus intelligence of science?
Jesus is coming, and boy, is he pissed!

Solar flares are a real danger.
Them tin foil hats might help then after all…

Re: the polar reversal, think of the implications…
-Heteros erectus will be reversed and become homo sexualus;
-Tesla’s will need rewiring…Black cable now to positive; Red cable to ground
-Poles reversed? Warsaw would be Ground Zero
-Demorats reverse and become Repugnant & vicey versa…
-The equator becomes a frozen tundra and the N & S poles get tropical;
-‘dre stops posting hyperlinks, sounds humble, reasonable, intelligent and is loved by all on TBP;
-Hell does in fact freeze over,
and in heaven, Cheribim and Serafim ward off the heat with a/c units donated by Amazon;
-bears start using toilets and the Pope becomes a Baptist;

That’s all I got for now. I’m sure some monkeys w/ warped senses of humor can add to the mix.
Commence.

I’m with Dutch on this one. Except he missed the solar flare, and/or solar minimum. Maybe Schum/losi will introduce a bill to see what’s really going to happen. Have to pass it to see what we’re in for.
Nothing like a constant exposure to fear. I say pull the plug and get it over with.

You guys are overthinking the problem. It is simple. Just declare a War on Pole Shifting and create a new agency called the Pole Shifting Enforcement Regulators, or PSER for short, that will fix it. I mean we have no drugs on the streets anymore thanks to the War on Drugs and the DEA, right?

Excellent suggestion. However your suggested agency is somewhat misnamed – Pole Indicated-Shifting Strategic Enforcement Regulators, or PISSER, for short.

The data on magnetic fields takes a long time to measure the very subtle changes in flux, strength, etc. But it does appear that this process is accelerating at a phenomenally faster rate than they originally thought…. maybe several orders of magnitude faster, where instead of centuries, it may only take a few decades or less if it keeps accelerating at the pace it seems to be going.

Maggie- My stone fireplace is built entirely of stone that came out of my yard when the foundation was dug. Within the stones are the fossil imprints of sea creatures that I am sure are millions of years old.

I wonder how my yard (on a very high hill) in KY was once under the sea, was that due to a pole shift or from plate movement when Pangaea broke up and the continents took form? Indentured is the science guru here, he might know, if so he could give us his thoughts.

It is a NEW year. Perhaps I’ll throw the lovely oil on canvas into a post and see what sort of commentary it draws. Only if YOU refrain from stating your observation, strangely and disturbingly valid as it seems to be.

My aunt, who painted the oil on canvas as a senior project at the University Kentucky at Murray, was widowed in her twenties with two young children. When they were both out of school, she sold the farm and went to college with both of them. Her youngest eventually joined the Navy and ended up in Australia hunting gold in the Outback. The oldest is in India teaching and learning in a sort of Ashram setting in Auroraville, India. Interesting lives.

Anyway, my aunt spent a lot of time at Kentucky Lake, so “Fire on Kentucky Lake” is probably NOT a vagina, but when I turn it vertical, I have to admit to seeing the resemblance. And now, I have it tucked in a back room in the treehouse, wondering what the hell I’m going to do with a 4 foot by 5 foot picture of homes burning across the shore on Kentucky Lake, painted Turner Landscape style of the 60s. Which meant a fuzzy image of something in the distance through the fog in a hazy blur.

Search youtube for “Neal Adams how mountains are formed”. There was never such a thing as pangea. Oceans are only a couple hundred million years old. Before they formed, there were only shallow seas. As the earth grew, The curved shell of the outer crust was forced to flatten, pushing up ridges in the process. Your land was once a shallow sea where many fossils were deposited. As the oceans formed, the land pushed up and became what it is today.

Hey, are you interested in a Turner Landscape of the Aurora Borealis over Kentucky Lake on canvas, painted circa 1965?

[imgcomment image[/img]

It is hanging on the wall of our little, um, guest house aka the “treehouse” seen to the far left as you enter our property.

[imgcomment image[/img]

Renovation of the guest house involves the removal of that wall to reduce it to a single bedroom cabin with a comfortable living space. There will no longer be a wall without a door, closet or window anywhere in the stilt house. However, it will now have a second doorway leading to balcony facing the wooded hillside where Bambi’s dad comes to visit. One hell of a hunting cabin/lease rental.

Maggie, not intending to give offense but you should sell that soon. It’s just the kind of thing some enlightened, braindead liberal in NYC or SF would pay big bucks for. Given the current fad in women’s head wear I’d think it should fetch a premium in those markets.

See what I did there?

If Q is correct that kind of liberalism is likely to go underground pretty soon.
