Did you know that tumeric is good for depression?

If you ever get a deep cut and you’re not in the market for $1,000.00 stitches (or don’t like doing them yourself), pack the wound site with tumeric, bind it up nice and tight, making sure to align the halves of the cut, and leave it that way for three days. Never fails.

Cayenne powder works better than anything to stop bleeding (even on those minor gunshot and knife wounds we all seem to get occasionally) and raw honey is an excellent antibiotic to prevent (or cure) infections and speed wound healing.

As far as stitches, you can do those yourself if you can reach the wound or have a friend do it if you can’t. It’s no different than sewing a tear or hole in your jeans. Super glue also works well but I prefer stitches.

HF- In Ayurvedic medicine, burns, cuts and trauma wound are treated with aloe and tumeric. The tumeric is a healing aid. The internal blood purification quality alone makes tumeric a treasure.

I’ve heard that packing it with sugar works too.

Turmeric is terrific. I may try that recipe, but one of the ones with coconut oil, as turmeric needs fat for absorption. I put a tablespoon in a cup of tea every day along with black pepper and coconut oil and cayenne pepper. Got two gallons of the powder in the basement for when things go south. You can also buy piperine (as bioperine) and take a capsule with your turmeric. Also, if you make bone broth, add in some turmeric root.

I had a skin irritation that started on my eyelid and over a couple years or so a patch appeared on my knee and another on my ankle. I tried a lot of different things that didn’t work. I also had problems finding a topical that I would be willing to use that close to my eye. I finally settled on colloidal silver gel topically on the eyelid and black seed oil internally and topically on the rest of the sites. It took a few months, but finally all went away. Never came back (so far!). I bought bottles of cold-pressed black seed oil and took a swig (about a tablespoon or so) once or twice a day. I recommend capsules for those with a weak stomach, black seed oil is one of the nastiest tasting substances I have ever willingly ingested more than once. One note, if you’re looking for black seed oil and reading the customer reviews discount any review that complains that the oil has gone bad based on the taste of the oil. Based on my ingestion of multiple bottles from multiple sources it is normal for the oil to taste nasty.

Stucky- I am glad to see that you have risen above the tail chasing of politics and devoted your time to learning and sharing valuable information. Tumeric is a gift from God as are many other supplements to our diets.

God has given us the plants, minerals etc. to maintain health and long life, we need to keep the old knowledge of their use. Thanks for the post.

Just started taking Tumeric a few weeks ago in capsule form. My wife uses the McCormick powder form on some of her food.

I take capsules that contain the powdered spice because I don’t like the taste of that much turmeric on my food.

Great post…printing it down to keep. I take Turmeric/Curcumin with Bioperine, 1500 mg for arthritis in my left thumb/hand. Significant positive results…stop taking it the level of pain and inflammation rises.

I was in Costco to buy a couple of large bottles of their Turmeric and the price had skyrocketed! I’m now looking for a bulk source to stockpile.

Since 2011 or so we have been taking turmeric. When we first started doing this we almost felt drunk off the turmeric, that shows you how potent it can be, even just the basic power. Our home made recipe is as follows:

1 cup powdered turmeric
½ cup powdered ginger
Fresh ground black pepper
Organic full fat whole milk or yogurt (I like to yogurt, my wife likes the milk)

Mix the first two ingredients well. Every morning put 2 or more teaspoons of the mix into a cup, add ½ teaspoon or more of fresh ground pepper (this could be mixed in, in advance as well). Add milk or yogurt (in the case of yogurt add a little water too), mix a little and let stand for 15 minutes or more for the powers to soak in the liquid. Mix some more, add more water if using yogurt and drink it down.

Read up on ginger, also has many health benefits that’s why we add it to the mix.

Thanks, Stucky! I’ve been on turmeric with pepper for many years, but I had no idea fats also increased the bioavailability of it.

I’m using it with the fire cider recipe from the other day. That stuff is hot!
I’ve heard Turmeric is good and all, but I got 1 question.
My question is this- those of you who are using this stuff once it gets good and established-
Do you smell like an old Afghan goatherder’s man dress?

It’s true that the raw Turmeric powder generally has between 3 and 5% curcumin. The standardized extract has 95%. However some things to consider – the extract may contain traces of the solvent used to extract the curcumin. Also you pay extra for the extract processing. You won’t get 400 mg curcumin in any capsule- Check the label- usually the extract is mixed with the Turmeric powder or a carrier so the capsule may only contain 50- 100 mg curcumin extract. Still if you are willing to pay more for the convenience of taking fewer capsules the extract caps or the extract powder may be the way to go. If you want the most curcumin for your money buy a good quality raw Turmeric powder for capsules of the straight Turmeric powder.
Best source for quality tested Turmeric extract, root powder, capsules, tea and the capsule machines: starwest-botanicals.com. You can buy cheaper but you can’t buy better.
