Had just returned from a trip to Nahlense with my red rope twin and her casual fling, Alejandro, from Cuba. We dropped my soon-to-be first and worst husband off to join his buddies in the dayroom to watch the Show, since we two red ropes were supposed to meet our commander, Captain Meeks for a student leadership meeting at Cuco’s sports bar, down on the beach. Well, five dozen oysters later, accompanied by however many pitchers of Sangria required to wash those down, the Bears won, I surmise.
I woke up the next morning so very hung over and sick I could barely manage to get myself to formation and handed “review and report” over to one of my yellow ropes, choosing to just march along to class alone, as red rope privilege allowed. Especially, when I’d spent the previous evening getting drunk with my squadron commander. Alejandro thought it hilarious, a bunch of young women (additional student leaders and their young female commander) doing what young women do naturally and so do I. All in all, it was harmless fun, stepping out with TPTB and learning what life is like when the privileges are easy to get used to and hard to examine.

I have a hard time watching SNL skits, even when they are mildly funny. I believe there is real treachery in the political underpinning of that show. I suspect the original church ladies were not far off the mark.
