Arnold Toynbee said anarchy is, “a political system based on cooperation among various groups or federations of people through mutual self-interest without the need for an external state”.
And yes, there are examples of successful anarchic systems. The Basque nation is one. It predates the Roman Empire and still survives today in Northern Spain and Southern France. No government, no borders, and no military as there are no borders to defend.
Another example is more than fifty Germanic tribes, several of which annihilated three Roman legions in 9 AD
A third example is the Red Cross Lifeboat Association which operated in the Middle Ages to rescue sailors in distress. It was destroyed by (government) in the rise of nation-states. Sadly, all references to it have been expunged from the internet so I’m relying on memory from pre-internet days. Yes there was a time before the internet and yes, I am that old.

Taking a page from General Giap, the Republicans moved in close to the Democrats. They are separated, so it’s said, by an aisle. One porous enough that members of either party move across that aisle with ease.

They need to move those two animals a little bit further to the left.
I think the Republican is fairly placed, because there are more libertarian members, such as a segment of the so-called Freedom Caucus. Overall, still decidedly on the statist side, of course.
The Democrats are not far enough to the statist end, I’d estimate about half way between the current position and the hammer & sickle, with virtually no believers in freedom, which requires a semblance of authority in an evolved nation.
Neither are close to hewing to a Constitutional philosophy, which is the tragedy of our day.
I MUCH prefer this spectrum to the Left/Right one which breeds more confusion than clarity.

This simple continuem shows human development struggling towards that point where we achieve maximum fulfillment-anarchy. When all of God’s children interact with each other exclusively through voluntary methods and dispel for evermore the reliance on coercion and brute force. We’ll get there or perish. There is no other viable option.

Anarchy is not chaos. It is not void of rules but a lack of rulers.
All societies over the ages have amazingly adopted simple rules very similar to the Ten Commandments, even those that had no knowledge of the Ten Commandments. It is part of the natural order.

I think its time we think about anarchy as a possibility. How many times must we be disappointed in so called conservatives to represent our views. GOP are feckless swamp rats for the most part and the Freedom Caucus et. al. never seem to get anything accomplished besides making great speeches on camera. Its DC vs. the Rest of USA. I would like to see the Federal Government cut by 90% in staffing and a similar percentage of departments and programs just ended. Then we can push hard for a similar reduction at the state and local level. Sure there will be bad things that happen and the MSM would go 24/7 on the children dying or starving whatever.
But even if true, the local communities will respond…and I will be happy to do my share and raise them as Montanans if it means Leviathan dies! Our military can get cut significantly also….do we really “need” 700 overseas bases…..no. Do we need a 300 ship navy, no, do we need that god awful F35, no. We do need satellites, and no more wars of empire for Globalists. If you think 9/11 was done by OBL and team….with 19 of the 20 hijackers Saudi nationals……think again!

I use Voluntarism instead when speaking with dolts.
Good advice, Jimmy T. “Voluntarism” sounds more positive than “Anarchy.”.
The anarchist movement reached its peak in the late 1800s when governments, fearing that people would realize we can get along without them, used the ass media and the public miseducation system to discredit the anarchists. Every terrorist or bomb-thrower was labelled an ‘anarchist.’ Arch-duke Ferdinand’s assassin in 1914 was called an anarchist.

The US is neither a constitutional republic as established by the Founding Fathers nor a representative democracy but a fascist oligarchy where a cabal of powerful bankers and global corporations control the government and its major institutions. The trappings of a republic such as voting, a court system and mass media remain to deceive the people but even these are owned and controlled by the oligarchs. A left-right spectrum is false…in fact almost meaningless. Personal and economic freedom is controlled and limited using an Orwellian system of watching and monitoring just about everything we do and through an insidious and tyrannical system of grooming, indoctrination and thought control by the MSM, educational establishments and Hollywood movies. The nation’s wealth is harvested by an evil system of currency debasement, interest rate suppression, the rigging of equity, bond and commodity markets, globalization and endless wars to benefit the oligarchs who rule over us. The system we live under is a form of neo-feudalism which makes us little more than modern-day serfs.
