Guns and the left’s war on freedom

Guest Post by Peter Morici

Targeting Handguns Illustration by Greg Groesch/The Washington Times

American democracy is under siege, and gun control is at the very center of the left’s war on all our freedoms and its agenda for an America in the mold of European socialism.

Facts — terrible massacres in strict gun control jurisdictions like Connecticut and France — have no place in fashioning the left’s gun regulatory proposals. Every horrific shooting is followed by demands for draconian restrictions on gun ownership without reasonable evidence that those measures can’t be circumvented by would be mass shooters.

The establishment GOP in Congress, just as it has on entitlements, taxes and a host of other issues, reverts to the mistake of offering compromises without strict conditions. Over and over again, it falls into the error of believing just one more concession will buy peace with the left but it can’t.

For the executive class of the professional left, a victory on one issue — for example, gay marriage — requires finding another — transgender rights. The civil rights movement must keep alive racism, sexism and white male privilege, no matter the progress of society, or its leaders would have to find honest work.

I have never owned a gun and have fired one only once — at the age of 5, my Sicilian grandmother lifted me up to pull the trigger at a Coney Island shooting gallery. I don’t feel gun ownership is necessary to secure my masculinity — something I am entitled to cultivate even if the liberals at my university enforce the notion in curriculum and public speech that it is the source of all injustice.

However, I am convinced it is impossible to make guns too difficult for would-be shooters to obtain. Even if the government made all gun ownership illegal and could confiscate the 350 million plus guns in circulation, a deranged shooter could make an AR-15 and ammunition with a 3D printer.

Similarly, it is impossible to arm and train American school teachers or harden schools to make those fully safe — unless we surrounded schools with barbwire fences, watch towers and guards armed with machine guns.

America is not Israel, where school teachers believe terrorists can be stopped by a well-trained educator holding a semi-automatic. Rather, American teachers are organized into unions that believe more entitlement spending and supporting Black Lives Matters’ anti-police agenda are vital to ending mass shootings.

Better background checks, denying guns to those pre-emptively identified as mentally unstable or on the No Fly List won’t keep guns out of their hands.

But many measures proposed would make appropriate gun ownership painfully more difficult for citizens engaged in shooting sports or having a legitimate need for self-protection in rural areas — police that are 15-30 minutes away when an armed intruder arrives are not much help.

The same folks that are for gun control — read prosperous urban Democrats and their client voters in government employment or otherwise on the dole — are for limiting CO2 emission by shifting blue-collar jobs to China, race and gender quotas in hiring, a single-payer health care system and guaranteed annual income, squashing free speech on university campuses and firing conservative professors, gutting the military, negotiating endlessly with China on matters relating to security and trade, and denying Donald Trump as a legitimate president.

Polls show alarming numbers of American youth embrace the notions that democracy and capitalism are inferior to a government selected by an oligarchy and an economy run by technocrats. Apparently our universities don’t expose students to poverty, atrocities and everyday state-terrorism imposed by such regimes in Russia and Eastern Europe during the Soviet era.

Such information is too inconvenient for contemporary white-male bashing university faculty and presidents.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi treating President Trump like a criminal instead of a duly-elected president, and Sen. Chuck Schumer doing whatever he can to block appointments to staff the Trump administration provides reinforcement to the notion that elections are only legitimate when liberal candidates win.

Gun advocates are right when they say gun ownership is fundamental to all their freedoms.

Gun control is a part of a broader agenda to deprive Americans of free thought and the prerogative to vote for a government not selected by a Democratic Brahmin class hell bent on remaking American civilization in their flawed vision of paradise.

I have given up on the Republicans….because of their lies about what that will do or fight for. They are more dishonest than the Dems. I just wish there were an alternative.

When you compromise with the Left, the compromise is always in their favor and and never in yours.

That’s how they’ve won on welfare, immigration, health care, Islam, divorce and family destruction, gay rights, gay marriage, sex and gender issues, religious suppression, historical issues such as monuments they don’t like, open borders, non deportation of criminal elements, chain migration, the budget and spending, and on and on and on.

That is how they will eventually win on guns, one little compromise after the other till any rights left become meaningless. Compromise means winning for the Left and losing for the right.

Unless something very serious takes place, like no compromises at all under any circumstances becomes the rule of the day for the right.

Read Ticker Guy. He nails it on Gun Control in oh so many ways. The assault is in full swing. All the other issues? Distractions. About the only thing as authentic is the assault on Christianity (and I’m not even Christian).

TPTB. They must be outed. If you’re going to fight the left, expose who really hates them. Don’t argue issues. Explain why McCabe getting $400,000 GoFund Me money is a sure sign the left loves slavery. They give their money to a guy that will get a million dollar book deal. With thunderous applause.

Jordon Peterson, the quite smart Canadian Psychologist, has produced this excellent 35 minute video on the nutters doing the school shootings. Worthy of wide dissemination as any explanation other than the simplistic gun problem will never be seen on our MSM. Hope this gets to the author and Admin.

Good article by a man who is obviously a patriot. That said, let me make a few points.
–Gun ownership has nothing to do with proving one´s masculinity – although free men throughout history have always taken care to be armed. In the South owning a gun (or many guns, if you feel like it) is simply a normal thing. We do not think any more of owning a rifle than we do a lawn mower.
–You and only you are responsible for your own safety and that of your family. I am disgusted when some liberal police chief blathers against gun ownership by law-abiding citizens. You can bet your ass he won´t be there at three in the morning when some primate crawls in your bedroom window. Don´t like guns? Good. Stand there helpless while your wife and daughter are gang-raped and murdered. Knowing you did not pick up an evil gun will give your great comfort. A gun is no guarantee of safety, far from it. But having one, knowing how to use it, and, most important, being willing to use it in an emergency can be a life saver. I prefer not to grovel before a smirking group of sub-humans. I prefer to hit them in the face with one of those wonderful Italian 12 gauge rounds that has a large lead ball and about thirty buckshot.
–The American Revolution started with an attempt by the British forces to seize a patriot arms depot. Never forget it or let any twit try to sell you on the “Oh, guns are just for a militia and the National Guard is now the militia”. Bullshit. The National Guard is a part of the regular standing army. It can be Federalized with the stroke of a pen. Whatever it originally was, it is now part of the permanent military force which the Founding Fathers so distrusted. Make no mistake. I am a former Marine Corps officer and my father was a career Army officer. I love our military and stand behind it. But the regular armed forces are NOT a militia. They are professionals and in the worst case can be a fearful tool in the hands of traitors and criminals like Obama, Schumer, Schiff, Pelosi, De Blasio or others of that ilk. The militia mentioned in the Constitution was meant to be a purely local and state organization and ALL able-bodied men were required to serve in it. In most cases they were expected to provide their own guns. The militia was specifically meant to be a counter-balance to the regular armed forces, making up in sheer size what it may have lacked in heavy weapons and professionalism.
–The Founding Fathers were well aware of the European tradition of forbidding the bearing of arms by the “lower classes”. This was especially true in continental Europe where tyrants and despots had long learned to fear an armed population. Japan and China are other examples. In Japan the nobles took great care to keep military weapons out of the hands of peasants, the better to chop off their heads on a whim with no danger of them fighting back.
Bearing arms is the mark of a truly free man and a good rifle, properly handled, makes him the equal of any individual soldier. I have laughed to read letters from military veterans, claiming to know all, who snort at the idea that armed civilians can fight regular military units. The whole history of the world shows the falsity of such thinking. No, a citizen militia can´t take on a regular army unit head-on but it never would. These dolts have never heard of Vietnam, Algeria or a thousand other guerrilla wars.
–Give up your guns and you have surrendered the last chance you have of standing up like a man to oppression. I think I will keep mine. I think I will also keep a few extras on hand to give to young men who can´t afford their own in the Globalist economy. Keep your powder dry.

Sage, the militia consists of all able bodied males 17-45 and female officers of the National Guard. Veterans are official militia members to age 62. US Code requires you to show up with your own weapon in a current military caliber.
The Supreme Court has ruled the militia is not part of any group which can be federalized like the National Guard.
For those who say the National Guard is the militia, the country was 119 years old when the National Guard came into existence in 1895.

You can’t make an AR 15 with a 3D printer! You can make the lower housing, but not the upper with the barrel and bolt. 3D printing will absolutely not make ammunition. You can make some guns with primitive tools and steel but even then ammunition is hard to get.
If the government tried to outlaw guns, whether AR 15 or others, they would fail. The effort would only create a new class of criminals-by the millions!

So buy ammunition, uppers and FCG’s now while it is still legal to do so off the record.

Ammunition already requires a background check in California. There is a bill in Congress that will require it the same as a firearm if it passes (which indicates which rifles and who owns them are in unregistered hands by the ammunition purchased for them) and semi auto uppers and FCG’s could easily become regulated and registered the same way machine guns are now, by simple decree or by legislation, the way things like bump fire stocks are being made now.

Wouldn’t hurt to stash away a few receiver blanks too, all you need to turn in if a firearm is outlawed is the stripped lower receiver or pistol frame and that is all there is any record of it ever having been made.

I stress now! While and where it is still legal to do so, I’m not promoting any illegal activity in the future.

Doug, there are 3D printers that use titanium. Cartridge cases could be made with an aluminum feed stock 3D printer. Primers would probably be the hard part.
Regardless, any half assed machinist can make you a Karl Gustav (Swedish K, S&W 76) submachine gun in a few hours out of plumbing supplies.

The problem is, we have allowed the anti Second Amendment crowd to define the terms.
A firearm is a tool which possesses no evil intent on its own. Assigning intent to an inanimate object is the epitome of insanity. Demonizing a weapon on “looks alone” also marks the accuser as an unstable individual who is also insane. Call them out on their illogic and insanity.
Another dirty tactic the anti-Second Amendment crowd uses exposes children to potential and actual harm by putting them in “gun-free zones”. These people care not one wit about children, but uses them for their own nefarious purposes.
We need to TAKE BACK the argument…
When the antis blame the firearm for the actions of a criminal, state that: “a firearm is an inanimate object, subject only to the intent of the user. Firearms ARE “equalizers” and are used to preserve life and make a 90 lb. woman equal to a 200 lb. criminal”.
When the antis attempt to justify their “gun free zones” counter their misguided argument with “you mean, criminal safety zones” or “victim disarmament zones”.
State that “we protect our money, banks, politicians and celebrities, buildings and facilities with PEOPLE WITH GUNS, but protect our children with “gun-free zone” signs”.
When the antis state that: “you don’t need and AR-15”, counter with, “Who are YOU to consider what I need or want?”
When the antis criticize AR-15s in general, counter with: “you mean the most popular rifle of the day, use able by even the smallest, weakest person as a means of self-defense. Besides, AR-15s are FUN to shoot”. Offer to take them to the range and supply them with an AR-15, ammunition and range time. I have made
many converts this way.
When the antis state that: “You don’t need an AR-15 to hunt with”, counter with “AR-15s ARE used for hunting, but in many states, are prohibited from being used to take large game because they are underpowered”.
When the antis state that: “AR-15s are high powered rifles”, correct them by stating that “AR-15s with the .223 or 5.56mm cartridge are considered medium-powered weapons–NOT “high-powered” by any means”.
When the antis state that: “the Constitution was written during the time of muskets, and that the Second Amendment should only apply to “weapons of that time period”, state that: “by your logic, the First Amendment should not apply to modern-day telecommunications, internet, television, radio, public-address systems, books and newspapers produced on high-speed offset printing presses. Only “town-criers” and Benjamin Franklin type printing presses would be covered under the First Amendment”.
When the antis state that “only law enforcement and government should possess firearms”, remind them of the latest school shooting, as well as Columbine, where “law enforcement” SAT ON THEIR HANDS while children were being murdered, citing “officer safety”, afraid to challenge the shooter, despite being armed to the hilt. The government-run murderous sieges at Ruby Ridge and Waco are also good examples of government (mis)use of firearms. Let’s not forget the millions murdered under communism by their governments AFTER their firearms were confiscated.

True “courage under fire” is a concept that is sadly lacking in today’s society. Most people live their lives out as decent human beings without coming into contact with those who would do them harm, and as such, have no idea of what it is like to have to act “on principle”, and do things “out of the ordinary” that serve to preserve innocent life, even at the expense of the courageous.

“Courage under fire” is an interesting concept that most people do not understand, and is not limited to military actions, but occurs in everyday life. Most people who exhibit courage under fire are ordinary, mild-mannered, non-violent individuals who have been propelled (actually thrust) into a situation that requires immediate action. Examples include Medal of Honor recipients, those exposed to combat, and yes, those who give their lives to protect our children in our abominable and misguided “gun free zones” called “schools”.

Let’s look at comparisons between our military and veterans who DO exhibit “courage under fire” as a matter of course, and our civilian (but “quasi-military”) “law enforcement” (who should exhibit the same characteristics), but have become more and more removed from this concept of “courage under fire”. You see, in today’s “law enforcement” community, “officer safety” is paramount. Most ordinary line officers will wait for a SWAT team, even on routine assignments, where even the SWAT teams exhibits a degree of caution that results in innocent lives being lost. It appears that the only time police and SWAT teams act with impunity is when they KNOW that they are relatively safe, as in their invasions on individual residences. In today’s “law enforcement” community, “making it to retirement” is the goal. Putting one’s life in peril “for the greater good” is absolutely “out of the question”. Unlike our military and veterans, today’s “law enforcement” runs away from gunfire.

A good examples of this is the latest school mass shooting in which the well-equipped police and SWAT teams SAT ON THEIR HANDS while the carnage was taking place. It most certainly appears that “courage under fire” is an unknown concept in American “law enforcement”. We are being told that this concept of “waiting to act” was abandoned after Columbine, but one can easily see that this is not the case, with the latest example being the most recent school mass shooting, where “law enforcement” hesitated to act.

Of course, “law enforcement” has an “out”. The Supreme Court has ruled that police officers HAVE NO DUTY to protect individual citizens–only “society-at-large”.

In addition, the degree of unnecessary “deadly force” utilized by “law enforcement” has increased greatly. Today’s “law enforcement” has become too eager to “shoot first and ask questions later” because their “official immunity” protects them from prosecution, unlike ordinary citizens who live under much greater restrictions on the use of deadly force. Despite not having any formal “rules of engagement”, “law enforcement” has a much greater degree of sloppy firearms use, where innocent lives are being lost. Good examples of this is where the police fired multiple shots at a vehicle in Washington DC because they “thought” the suspects were inside. Another example is that of the shooting outside the Empire State Building where multiple citizens were hit by errant NYPD gunfire. In both cases, any civilian pulling the same “stunts” would have been prosecuted.

Quite often, firearms owners are their own worst enemies. The duck hunters don’t like the AR-15 “black rifles” so they see no problem if attempts are made to ban them. The traditional rifle owners don’t like machine guns, so they have no problem with them being legislated out of existence. Some pistol owners see nothing wrong with certain long guns being outlawed just as some rifle owners would have no problem seeing pistols banned.
Friends, ALL firearms advocates must “hang together” and realize that an assault on ANY means of firearms ownership and self-defense is an assault on ALL forms of firearms ownership and self-defense.
There is absolutely NO ROOM for complacency among ANY Second Amendment supporters. An attack on one is an attack on ALL…
ALL firearms laws are unconstitutional on their face. Imagine the hue and cry if “reasonable” restrictions were placed on First Amendment activities, especially with the “mainstream media”. The Second Amendment is clear–what part of “shall not be infringed” do politicians and the media not understand…of course, they understand full well…it’s part of their communist agenda…

The end result of the great teaching was on parade this weekend across America . ….. HALF the idiots are “demanding” you take away their Bill of Rights and give up your guns because “THE POLICE will protect you” —- the other half were “demanding” the POLICE STOP SHOOTING UNARMED CITIZENS.

Teacher raises HELL! Give the Taxpayers a REFUND. The little idiots cannot read or write, and have NO concept of the Constitution, Law, History. ………..The Teacher Unions should be paying DAMAGES to the Kids —-
take their HUGE pensions and use it to actually educate the kids.
The same “teachers” who taught nothing about economics taught nothing about history or the Constitution …. what they DO teach is “Be PROUD of being stupid and knowing squat …… history is BOOOORING”

Teachers whine about how “hard” they work but FAKEucators taught the children nothing about History or the US Constitution. MILLIONS of kids without a CLUE about history, or the US Constitution.
” Hey teacher, leave those kids alone.”
So the FAKEucators are bald faced liars as well as Child Exploiters. One does not wave POLITICAL SIGNS at a funeral. More reason to fire them.
Every teacher or school administrator who aided, urged, promoted or engaged in that “student” walk out must be fired. They used YOUR taxes to promote Their political agenda . They used their “position of authority” to coerce their wards, minor children, into actions they will come to regret …. just like #METOO victims. I can guarantee the FAKEucators did not present a balanced, objective, overview of the subject.
This is Child Abuse and Exploitation. They are coercing children to further their political agenda. Any teacher that engages in such exercises must be FIRED and charged with Child Abuse and Exploitation. When is the TAXPAYER FUNDED, School organized, PRO-Constitutional Second Amendment walkout???
