I purchased a complete guide DVD set of 6 -1 hour videos from the below. The info and depth of the guide was very good (although pretty boring). My point again; there is a tremendous amount of info to digest. Get a lot of training. At the very least some DVDs. It could save your bacon with how and when to use a weapon and the legal jeopardy you can get into once a weapon is drawn. You are correct Steve . The responsibility and accountability is enourmous for private citizens when they even brandish a firearm . Should that encounter require discharge your life will change forever and you will most likely be charged with something substantial . You will generally not be considered a HERO for eradicating a wart on the ass of society regardless of the facts !
Yes it worked, but he was in a very precarious situation. They were way too close to him, he was right on the edge of that canal. He should have backed away from the edge of the water as they approached him, and not let them get in so close. That could have gone really bad, as he was totally on his own. He saw them coming, already talking about his shoes. He’s ex-military, he should know better

When I visit relatives in commie countries like MD. or WA. I carry a cheap disposable just for that occasion. Use it, calmly walk away and throw it down a storm drain.
Ruger makes a .380 lcp just for that. I got 2 for 210.00 ea. 3 years ago. No hammer, no safety. Just a long heavy trigger pull so it can go in your front pocket and not blow your balls off with a round chambered.

Try looking on YouTube for fishing videos, all kinds of them with people filming themselves in canals, public and private ponds, irrigation ditches, etc.
There’s really nothing uncommon about it, it’s in the same category as the urban and abandoned property explorers.

He got lucky. As others have said, he never should have let them get so close to him. Problem #1 is that he just looks like a soft target. He does not have the “don’t fuck with me” look that is valuable. You can be a 5′ 100lb guy, and look respectable, and still have that look, IF you develop it.

as several of you said he was oh so lucky–
if those guys were experienced thugs they could & probably would have taken his gun from him-
i’ve been in a couple of situations,once by myself & once by the guy with me, where a gun was left in the waistband but the shirt lifted & it defused the situation —
neither time did the bad boys make an actual threat but the body language was there,which is a good example why many gun laws are bs–in both of those situations it was iffy as to whether we were brandishing since nobody made a threat or showed a weapon–

The dindos were definitely rank amateurs, they were so close that they could have easily subdued and disarmed him once he pulled. It would have ended very badly for the good guy for sure if they really had intent. They were just hoping to bully rob him without any actual plan. He lives to fish another day, good for him.
Stay in condition yellow; he should have went to orange as soon as they started to approach, instead he waved and let them walk right up on him. If you are going to carry you should have good training.

My Kid sister in Md. used to be anti gun til her neighbor and her 15y.o. daughter had a forced entry by 3 drugged up crazies which may have actually saved them because after they duct taped them they grabbed the tv and vcr and left. The cops treated the 2 women like they were the criminals selling pussy or something. She was on the phone begging me to send her a pistol to carry back and forth to the car. I sent her one and then spent 30 min. on the phone helping her develope the mind set one needs to pull the trigger.
All the range training in the world is totally useless at close range in a real crisis. The FBI says most gunfights happen in 5 seconds at 5 yards and 5 rounds fired. As a former 2 bit, lazy, East Coast Hoodlum I’d agree with that.
I told her to decide right now if she was going to let some clown like those guys rob her of the chance to spoil her grandkids after working and slaving to put her 2 boys in a church school to keep them from being corrupted by public schools then helped them through college. After that rehearse over and over pointing it at their face at close range and start pulling the trigger.
If you can’t do this then all you are going to do is become an arms supplier to the punks who are going to make you their bitch.

I believe many uninformed gun control voters could be convinced of the practical necessities of firearm ownership, if they would just spend 30 minutes to get educated in a conceal carry class.
They would learn the truth of the fallacy of police protection in the event of home invasion, as well as learn the liabilities involved if a firearm is ever drawn. Just 30 minutes, an infomercial and I believe a significant number would be gained and not recoil in fear every time Hogg bemoans the evils of the NRA, but shake their head and laugh in his face.

I have started to pull on two aggressive panhandlers the last year in “the city” I occasionally am forced to visit. Never cleared leather because both the dudes bearing down on me from behind (once while I loading stuff into my trunk and once and pumping gas) put their hands up in the air and started apologizing backing up as I was in motion.
