I first watched Full Metal Jacket in 1988, a year after it release – and I loved it. I’ve watched his boot camp performance many times on YouTube, and a comment I read on his death was that the sensitive baby-adult soy-boy millenials of today needed someone like Gunnery Sergeant Hartman to rebuke their entitled, spoiled selves into responsible adults.
He was a character and I’m sad he’s gone.

I don’t know much about R. Lee Ermey personally. His public image was a hell of a man.. I lived in his home town about the time he enlisted, wish I could have met him.

I read a review of Comey’s ‘book’ in the WaPo two days ago. The reviewer mentioned a curious fact. It seems Comey once claimed to have played basketball at William and Mary as one might expect a towering ‘slimeball’ to have done. But he never did, at least as a member of the W&M basketball team.
We all remember people like this. I remember my sister being so disappointed when a high school boyfriends claim to be attending some fancy art school turned out to be a lie. But Comey wasn’t a teenager when he made this claim. As Joe DeGenova mentioned in a radio spot (available over at the Conservative Treehouse) Comey has some real psychological issues and a fixation on height is one. How else to explain his comment that Trump ‘appears shorter than he is’ or his ridiculous comment on Andrew McCabe’s going on a ( permanent) leave of absence that ‘he stood tall unlike the small people’ who were against him.
