The Dogs of Vengeance

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

History has a velocity of its own, and its implacable forces will drag the good, the bad, the clueless, the clever, the guilty, the innocent, the avid, and the unwilling to a certain fate. One can easily see a convergence of vectors shoving the nation toward political criticality this autumn.

Mr. Trump is like some unfortunate dumb brute of the ancient Teutonic forests with a bulldog clamped to his nose, the rest of the pack close behind snapping at his hamstrings and soft, swaying underbelly. His desperate bellowing goes unanswered by the indifference of the trees in forest, the cold moon above, and all the other furnishings of his tragic reality.

As these things tend to happen, it looks like the exertions of Robert Mueller have turned from the alleged grave offenses of a foreign enemy to the sequela of consort with a floozie. Down goes Mr. Trump’s private attorney, Michael Cohen, in his personal swamp of incriminating files and audio recordings. Enter, stage left, one David Pecker, publisher of the venerable National Enquirer — the newspaper of wreckage — on his slime-trail of induced testimony. And there is your impeachable offense: an illegal campaign contribution.

One way or another, as Blondie used to sing, I’m gonna getcha, getcha, getcha.

Some in this greatest of all possible republics may be asking themselves if this is quite fair play, given the hundreds of millions of dollars washed-and-rinsed through the laundromat known as the Clinton Foundation, and related suspicious doings in that camp of darkness. But remember, another president, Jimmy Carter, once declared to the shock of official Washington that “life is unfair.”

What I wonder is what these dogs of vengeance reckon will happen when they achieve their goal of bringing down the bellowing bull and pulling his guts out. Perhaps a few moments of tribal satisfaction, one last war dance around the fire, and when the fire dies out, they will find themselves under the same cold indifferent moon with blood on their snouts and an ill wind blowing in the tree tops.

After two years of fomenting hysteria, the “winners” will discern the reality behind all the melodrama: the financialization rackets that replaced what used to be the economy have come unglued, and institutions begin to fail left and right: banks, pension funds, corporations, state and municipal governments, federal promises to pay this and that, and, in general, the ability of the USA to carry on anything approximating what might be considered normal life.

It will be interesting to see how the impeachment of Donald Trump plays as all this goes down. My guess is that the people warning about a second civil war are not far off the mark. The final consequence of a political-economy based on the proposition that anything goes and nothing matters will be the rueful discovery that consequences actually exist, and consequently that anything can’t go and some things really do matter: like whether or not money is actually worth what it says it’s worth.

That issue will surely be determined by whether the borrowers of money can possibly pay back what they owe. The discovery that it’s impossible will coincide with whatever the legal fate of Donald Trump’s presidency might be. The result of all this is apt to be a political nightmare of bankruptcy and bloodshed that makes the first civil war (1861-1865) look like a tale of knighthood in flower.

Our national living arrangements are far too fragile. The players on both sides of this dire game must assume that the trappings of American life are sturdy, and they are quite wrong about that. Personalities are not in control anymore. Murphy’s law rules, and we’re about to find out how that law differs from the federal election statutes and humdrum business of indicting ham sandwiches just because they’re out there on the table.

My guess is Paul Ryan is feverishly working on setting up an impeachment scenario.

If DT is squeaky clean why would you worry?? There is this thing called EVIDENCE, and they would have to have something in the vault. Every good impeachment script has the damning evidence or not?? Mostly the puppet actors just resign before they get the full treatment, you can almost predict how these things go.

Like I said, if DT is so wonderful, heroic, beyond squeaky clean, you all need to stop moaning and whining as he will come through like a champ…….right?

They don’t need no stinking evidence.

Oh but they do Iska. Even the Dems can’t just declare a president impeached without some sort of damning evidence. They can thumbsy you all day for that outburst of stoopid but that is the truth.

Iska- Impeachment does not always mean that a president is removed from office. That president, once impeached would then be tried in court for high crimes etc.
That trial would not take place without some actual evidence of wrong doing brought in the impeachment hearings.

They absolutely can vote to impeach based on jack shit. They probably could not succeed with a prosecution in the Senate, but they would see the act of impeaching as some kind of victory, sick fuques that they are.

B.L., the fact that Americans break at least 3 laws per day could have an impact. So far, Trump is coming out as squeaky clean compared to the rest of Washington. I wonder how many in Congress and the Intelligence Community could survive after a microscopic look like the one Trump is getting. If they were scouring every aspect of your life, would you land in jail?

Trump will not be impeached, even if the Dems manage to steal the fall election, because the consequences would be far too dire….But then again, the creatures in DC seem to have completely lost their minds.

When the Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges, they found out that two could play that game, and it will likely result in another Supreme Court justice they don’t want being appointed. Now, they are going down a road that may, as Kunstler days, garner them some temporary satisfaction. But they should be prepared for the payback that’s sure to come, and if the inevitable collapse of the economy coincides with the take down of Trump, it will be especially brutal.

Buy more 223. If you don’t own any now you might as well start making baseball bats in your garage.

If the barrel says .223, only use .223. If it says 5.56, you can use both safely. Same with .308/7.62 NATO. Military specs call for slightly different free bore, primer hardness, case thickness, etc.

Here we go again with the anonymous curse. And now it won’t even remember my name when I type it in.

By the way, that was some real nice writing there in that post.

Hollywood…praise the Lord and pass the ammo.

Hmm….so how about this scenario ?

So in November the Demorats win the house . They get the impeachment they want.

Trumpster says he’ll step down ( around February ) for the good of the country.

This pisses off 30 million Trumpster lovers .

The financial walls start to crumble in April, the Demorats blame Trumpster…he’s the cause of all it. Trumpster emerges from behind the curtain and says nope….all was well before I left .

June….the layoffs begin in earnest. By July the unemployment rate will be 15% ( the real rate much higher) .

The Antifa types take this as their cue to start Marches For Social Reform ( AKA get rid of capitalism),they are met by the pissed off and well armed Trumpster supporters who had it pretty good when Trumpster was in office.

The clashes become violent and bloody. The Antifa folks go full tilt French….meaning they drop their weapons and run…the Trumpeeters don’t . Cue the Deep State and martial law. The Nation starts to splinter along ideological/cultural lines…the South rises again !

The final scene from this scenario is when Jim Quinn asks me…Buckhed…the Provincial Head Of The Republic Of The South for a visa to immigrate from the 30 Blocks of Squalor .

P.S….he has Stucky with him.

As Stuck pointed out in a different thread:
You depose Trump, you get PENSE!
Now THERE’S vengeance.

The Demoncrats are preparing to empty the morgues and graveyards.

No pulse required to vote in November.

22-DT pulled more votes in rock solid Dem districts that were gung ho Harpy territory up to election day than there were actual registered voters in 2016. There is some talent on both sides for hacking the Diebolds. That happened in many districts, so dead folks can also be flipped.

Cliff-Nobody dislikse commies or Dems more than me but that was not the point, 22 said they would have the dead folks voting and I agree, I just point out that there was some talent at work on the Trump side in 2016. Diebolds were and can be flipped on the dearly departed.
You are still playing Dem/Rep, Red/Blue, Libtard/ Conservative. Just dealing in facts.
