Matt Damon And SNL Prove They Haven’t Learned Anything With Latest Kavanaugh Opening

Originally Posted at Free Market Shooter – Authored by Jon Hall

On Saturday night, Matt Damon viciously parodied an emotional SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh as he appeared before the Senate Judiciary to respond to allegations of sexual misconduct.

Damon’s Kavanaugh was out-of-control, belligerent, self-incriminating, and – of course – the media and liberal left loved it.

Left out of mainstream media’s praise for Damon was the fact that just a year ago, Damon was accused of helping kill a New York Times article in 2004 about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct.  But somehow, he apparently thinks it’s a good idea to hoist himself a top an ivory tower and pile on Kavanaugh’s accusations despite there being no evidence proving them.

Damon admitted in October 2017 that he knew Weinstein had allegedly harassed Gwyneth Paltrow, and that he was an “asshole” who was a “womanizer” – but denied knowing about Weinstein’s criminal conduct.

The claim that Damon killed a story on Weinstein’s abuse even led him to vow that he would step away from the #MeToo movement.

After the rapid-fire spate of controversy, Damon told the Today show:

A lot of those women are my dear friends and I love them and respect them and support what they’re doing and want to be a part of that change and want to go along for the ride, but I should get in the back seat and close my mouth for a while.

Damon also defended Senator Al Franken after a photo showed Franken from his comedian days reaching for the breasts of a soldier while she was asleep. Damon has also suggested that he would still work with comedian Louis C.K., who was accused of masturbating in front of numerous women.

From “closing his mouth for a while” to leading the cold open for SNL’s premiere lambasting a man being baselessly accused and smeared by the liberal media and Democratic left…

Of course, the overall theme of SNL’s cold open focusing on Kavanaugh also trashed Republicans in general – with Senator Chuck Grassley being portrayed as having made up his mind before Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony even started, and fiery Lindsey Graham ridiculed as nonsensical and inane.

On top of that, sex crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell was described as the GOP‘s female “human shield”.

However, the lengths a “comedic” program went to debase and smear a man – and by extension, his family – with claims consisting of no evidence or proof – is truly abhorrent.

Recognize this – dog-piling unfairly on a conservative like Kavanaugh is cutting-edge, witty humor – whereas merely making an observation about the liberal accuser, Blasey Ford, will draw the total ire of the outrage machine.

Editor’s note: In addition to all of the above, Damon is on record calling for Australian-style gun confiscation in the US – in spite of the fact that he has banked hundreds of millions of dollars toting guns as an action movie star:

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly,” Damon said to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Does Damon strike you as the kind of guy who should be the mouthpiece of the gun control movement, much less the #MeToo movement?

One of the very legitimate points made by people on the Right over the Kavanaugh smear campaign, is that good people will not want to serve in government if this is what they have to look forward to when they step up. Why would any decent person want to be dragged through the mud, accused of rape, and have their high school year book scoured for embarrassing comments about flatulence, when a comfy career in the private sector awaits them as the alternative?

They wouldn’t, and that’s the point. The Left does not want decent people in government, anymore than they want honest people being heard from on social media. They want the people in power to be as corrupt as they are, and for decent people to spend their lives cowering from the violence and smear campaigns the Left is orchestrating in plain sight.

I’m glad you posted this, Jon. I wanted to address it over on Hardscrabble’s thread but my comment there was too long already.

Watching the 13 minute SNL bit with Damon was tedious. I found it so for the same reasons as I do with other late night comedians, as well as blowhard hypocrite actors and actresses: they mock things that aren’t funny; and in clueless ways.

Yet the creators, however, they know what they are doing. At the beginning of the skit with Damon, Feinstein is portrayed comically when she said she had soup for lunch. This gives the creators cover because it appears they are mocking both Democrats and Republicans equally.

But they are not.

Grassley is portrayed comically PLUS as claiming his mind was made up before seeing the testimonies. The bias against Kavanaugh and the Repubs is obvious (in a similar manner) throughout the entire skit; and for some low information voters, the illusion will be all they see.

The illusion is narrative. In this example by SNL, Kavanaugh is portrayed as a privileged, angry frat boy dissembling his past drinking while the Republicans engage in unfair tactics.

For many people, that will be enough for them to make up their minds. This is why the creators conceived and enacted that skit. Of course the players, like Damon, are just tools. Court Jesters, really.

Damon is an asshat of the first order, like Affleck and most other Bawlywood degenerates and halfwits. Let them all rot.

First off this clown does not even look like he can handle that weapon. From another comment here. An illusion that is exactly what these Hollywood idiots are. They pretend to be something else. I sometimes wonder if they even know who they actually are. As for the message being sent to sway the low information voter. That is exactly what that shit is about. It is right up there with the idiot women who only voted for Bill Clinton, because she thought he was good looking. Or for Hillary because she is a women. You just want to say to these idiots. Next time just stay home, but sadly this is where we are.

Actually, I would like SNL to do a bit on this from today’s press conference. This should be its own post:

FFS…people still watch SNL? It hasn’t been funny since the 80’s and the last time I watched Sinead O’Connor tore up a picture of the pope and implored watchers to fight the real enemy…it turns out she was right, but no one cared then and no one seems to care now.

Mr. Trump is right. Any show broadcast by an MSM company is nothing more than propaganda for the democrat party.

Anti 2A Damon is a nitwit and a douche anyway. The hilarious part is that Saturday Nite Live is still on. Hahaha…how is that possible? Even the potheads have better things to do than stare at that toilet bowl full of turds. Talk about milking a cow dry. SNL about as funny as Jerry Seinfeld. The crap that gets forced down the gagging throats of mindless Americans…
