The Hidden Tribes of America

TMWNN sent me a link to this report. The graphics won’t transfer over to TBP, so you’ll have to go to the link to read it. It might explain some things on the day after the mid-terms showed a polarized country.

Via Hidden Tribes

Polarization

America has never felt so divided. Bitter debates that were once confined to Congressional hearings and cable TV have now found their way into every part of our lives, from our Facebook feeds to the family dinner table. But most Americans are tired of this “us-versus-them” mindset and are eager to find common ground. This is the message we’ve heard from more than 8,000 Americans in one of our country’s largest-ever studies of polarization: We hold dissimilar views on many issues. However, more than three in four Americans also believe that our differences aren’t so great that we can’t work together.

So long as power resides in the hands of government that can enable one group to violate the rights of others, steal their incomes, steal their property, throw them in a cage for believing they possess self-ownership, and so much more, we can NEVER live in harmony with each other. I believe in freedom and liberty. Those (both republicans and democrats) who show up at the table, for one, will not allow anyone who believes in freedom to sit at the table, and most certainly show up with the guns and violence of government to back up their viewpoints and wishes. How can ANY civil conversation ensue given those truths?

And this is an important point to make. REAL freedom, liberty, personal responsibility, self-ownership, massively restricted government power, private property rights, etc. are NOT supported by either of the two major political parties that control every aspect of the government and its structure. Yet they are the ONLY voices allowed to speak (collusion even makes sure they are kept out of national debates). Even Fox news, who claims to be “fair and balanced, ” will only have discussions that involve how MUCH government intervention should be supported, but virtually never allow someone on who challenges the role of government in the first place. Indeed, true freedom supporters are occasionally given a voice, but are generally silenced once they start goring the ox that Murdoch and others rely on.

We once had a Constitution and Bill of Rights that was supposed to protect the minority from the whims of the majority, but those protections died within minutes of the final signatures on the document. And with both major political parties vying for control of the majority position of power, the very small minority that still values freedom and liberty, will never have a voice in the political arena.

According to the article ‘only’ 8% of the people are crazy assed progressives. Well 8% is a lot in terms of the destructiveness they can/are doing to our country. It only takes one match to destroy what has been built, destroy a forest.

There is no room in the US for progressive / liberal ideas.

Only 8% may self-identify as “progressives,” but easily 80% support progressivism of one sort or another. A great book to read on the subject of Progressivism and its history (in BOTH the democrat and republican parties), is “Progressivism: A Primer on the Idea Destroying America” by James Ostrowski. Short, hard-hitting read that shows that the progressive mindset is embraced, sadly, by MOST Americans.

When you have a congenital liar in the WH who on average tells ten fibs a day, (to his credit, he tells the truth when he can) the voting public is going to develop a neurotic aversion to politics.

I took the Quiz – says I’m a moderate – couldn’t be more wrong. Makes me think their stats aren’t very good.

What’s right with the article is that I believe people want to ‘come together’ and not be polarized.

The real problem is that the progressives / leftists are for policies that will ruin our country. I don’t say that this is my opinion – it is the truth.

Giving our country away to unwashed, uneducated third world invaders / redistributing our incomes / rewarding sloth / rewarding baby mamas / rewarding bad behavior – cannot be good, for any society.

I sure hope this current shit-show doesn’t end badly.

What happened to the 7000 strong caravan of invaders, followed by the additional 7000 caravan to invade our border? Did they run out of burritos?

Our research concludes that we have become a set of tribes, with different codes, values, and even facts. In our public debates, it seems that we no longer just disagree. We reject each other’s premises and doubt each other’s motives. We question each other’s character.

I’m somewhere else now, spec-less and reading at arm’s length, but it appears this research organization has concluded there remains untapped consensus between America’s “tribes”.

The article also states the “majority of Americans want compromise”.

Maybe so. But, at the same time, it would be interesting to see the high-powered acumen of the reseachers focused on why any consensus and compromise always trends toward progressivism.

In so doing, they would discover how, over the past four decades, the federal educational system has immunized previously fertile young minds against common sense and self-reliance.

If reality is to be acknowledged, some premises must rejected from the start. Sadly, the majority of Americans have been immunized against reality, too.

So, good luck in achieving any consensus.

George Bernard Shaw phrased it thusly:

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

That website doesn’t allow you to copy anything. I was going to make some comments … but, they can go fuck themselves.

Ok, wait … just 3 things.

—1) The very first sentence says “we have become a set of tribes with different codes, values, and even facts”.

— 2) The article concludes that “the root of those disagreements are our differences in CORE BELIEFS — the underlying psychological architecture that governs what we value and how we see the world.

— 3) The article believes there are a majority of Americans —- from Far Left to Far Right and everything in between —– which they call the “Exhausted Majority”, which believes we can all get along, can move past our differences, and doing so will bring us back together all united, happy, and shit.

Uh huh. Sooooo, lemme get this straight; we are TOTALLY DIFFERENT right down to CORE VALUES and we even have DIFFERENT FACTS —- yet, we really can shit Unicorns and fart Gold Coins and sing Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy around the campfire???

HOW IN THE FUCK DOES THAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN? The answer, if there is one, is not in the article. I guess you have to take it by faith.

Speaking of faith … doesn’t Jehobah say that Good should never sit at the table to dine with Evil? That’s the route I’m taking, as in, “Fuck you fucking evilfuk libfuks!” …. and I suspect the author of that article is just that.

Pretty weak article and analysis, and largely preordained by their biases (Hint…you don’t name your center ‘Coming Together’ then conduct your research on whether we can). Despite carving it into ‘7 tribes’ they are remarkably binary thinking (left right, with the gradations in between). This ain’t how to draw the lines.

There are tribes, but these aren’t them. They’re right about the Progressive Tribe (founding ideas: Marxism). There is an African American Tribe. They have a different culture. You could meaningfully split them between the rural, mostly southern, AA tribe, and the Urban AA tribe. They’re pretty different. There is a Country Club/Northeastern Republican Tribe. There is a big difference between the Southern Gentleman on the right, the law and order Texan, and the libertarian right that runs through the upper western plains. There is a difference between the Yuppie/Hipster left, and the Latinx activists. There are tribes, and one is progressive, and one could be conservative, but the others aren’t simple linear gradations between them. Especially when you get into the roots of their ideas.

I am skeptical the tribes can get along, but the authors attempt to just throw out the wings, and claim a giant mushy middle Rodney King ‘can’t we all get along’ is imbecilic.

Screw that compromise BS. The Bible says God would rather have me be a Militant God hating Commie than a Moderate Republican(Liberally Paraphrased).
The Liberal(Progressives are Liberals off their Meds) idea of agreeing means we start by first accepting all of their Ideas and none of ours today and tomorrow they will inform us of additional changes we must make.
The difference between Moderates and Liberals is that Moderates don’t know that their Father is Satan, Liberals do.

The Republicans that lost were the spineless ‘work together’ cucks that enjoy losing so much, so I guess thay have that – the Republicans that won were the ones that went hard right.

It looks more like most Americans want nothing to with what this carefully crafted ‘report’ is selling.

Compromise is suicide.

The first map is wrong. If only white people voted, there would be extremely little blue in South Carolina. That blue encompasses the old plantations, if you know what I mean. The rest in that area are farmers, who I doubt are blue.

Edit: By the way, now you know what part of South Carolina NOT to live in (blue).
