HEHE. Welcome to LA. Now to be fair, this is not the norm, although that road is certainly almost always backed up to some extent. That backup was biblical and something amazing most certainly lead to it.

It’s not fit for humans. The Mexicans deserve this and more. The Progs have fucked it up beyond all repair.

True story: My daughters went to U. in Santa Cruz, 7hours N. of home in O.C. Calif…First Thanksgiving I drove up and loaded the SUV with 5 young ladies headed S…The 5 freeway is usually 75mph+….STOP and GO this time and 14 hours to get home. What a nightmare….

Living in Santa Cruz, I just gave up the annual family drive to Long Beach on Thanksgiving after back to back years of 11 hour rides. This year I just got back from pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving starting the week before and it only took about 7 1/2 hours, only an hour more than fastest possible. However, it still amazes me that the 110, 405, 710 whatever is jammed at ALL HOURS OF THE DAY and is not possible to cross LA without at least a 45 min delay even at 11 am or 2 pm. When even the Waze app can’t get around without this kind of delay you know it’s real bad. 14 hours is insane. I’ll bet you considered getting off the freeway to try side streets, got off only to find it was worse, got back on only to find it had gotten worse, gave up trying , peeped in your pants wishing you hadn’t had that drink 6 hours ago, then watched the gas gauge go to zero and you are still in LA?

You are macabre. Funny that the Kill and Die mass murder mania is infecting rational people. Once the apocalypse is here, I suppose everybody will be in a bloodthirsty mood.

I think modern jet aircraft like the F-16 have cannons that can do that more efficiently like they did to the Iraqis running away from Kuwait. They wasted the crowded freeway and left it looking like the burned vehicles in the forest fires.

Imagine that traffic situation when there is a wildfire on both sides of the highway? That’s what happened in Paradise on a two lane blacktop as people tried to evacuate. Once thousands of cars are burning it will be so hot not even bones will be left.

Thanksgiving? Its like that EVERY night. Same with most major cities in America. Government builds and maintains the roads, directs building through restrictive zoning regulations, manipulates business through tax policies, regulatory policies, incentives and subsidies, and manipulates labor through countless means. Might there have been superior solutions? We will never know what might have been, because we got what crony capitalists and politicians decided was right rather than the market.

It’s exactly what they deserve everyday in Turdville, Californication! Hope they regret every painful minute spent there in their garbage lives.

Mexifornia is a misnomer as the state is a refuge for every nationality and people from every corner of the USA. Today, we have many black former residents of Compton that were displaced by Salvadorans.
Our AV community is jokingly known as Pompton. In keeping with your joke, I guess we can also call it Blackdale.

For what it is worth:
When I saw the video of the woman in traffic posted above (the la la land video), it reminded me of a missonary trip taken about twenty-five years ago deep into Mexico. When driving through the traffic to enter the United States border at El Paso, amongst all the traffic was a woman with a small child standing there begging. It was mid-July, about a hundred degrees (but low humidity so she had that going for her).
Be thankful this Thankgiving. Some of you readers are probably the age of that child now.

It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to get home last night.

Thing is, that’s the typical rush hour traffic on the 405. Took me 4 1/2 hours to get home one day. And that’s 50 miles.

There’s plenty to hate about California (as I well know after 60+years of experience), but there’s also one thing we have over all of the rest of you.
Unseen in the pic due to poor resolution are at least ten (likely more) motorcyclists splitting lanes and saving time and gas. Not expressly legal, but not prohibited, either, cops ignore it unless done unsafely. And, admittedly, plenty of people go too fast and weave excessively, but natural selection has a way of evening things out over time.
Plus, we can do it virtually year round. I’m seldom forced to drive due to weather.
70 miles per day, 5-6 days a week, saving 30-45 minutes a day and avoiding all kinds of stress. It really is therapeutic.
