Extremely disturbing footage of the aftermath of a giant fireball that burst from an illegal gasoline pipeline tap near a small town north of Mexico City has surfaced online.
As we reported earlier, at least 66 people have been confirmed dead after a geyser of gasoline ignited at the site of the illegal tap, instantly engulfing the surrounding area in flames.
Reports from the scene described piles of charred bodies so badly burned that responders struggled to separate and identify the individuals.
In the video, people are seen throwing themselves on the grass and in water to try and extinguish the flames.
The horrific incident took place as locals had gathered around a ruptured Pemex pipeline to collect the fuel that was spilling out. The company blamed the fire on thieves drilling into the pipe.

I can hear why this conflagration occurred. It’s probably a very third world reason. It was very dark outside that night, so I bet someone lit a cigarette lighter or match so they could see.
We may never know the final death toll as the Mexican government will want to downplay the number but it was a horrific incident. What stunned me was the sheer stupidity of people congregating around a geyser of aerosolizing gasoline. This is exactly what a cars fuel injectors do! Shoot a spray of aerosolized gasoline into a motor cylinder so a spark or pressure will cause it to expode. Anyone anywhere near that gasoline geyser was being surrounded and rained on by a cloud of vaporized gasoline. The only stuff that didn’t explode was the liquid fuel in their plastic containers.

If I was one of those Mexican Army soldiers I would have shot the ones on fire. Let’s face it these were poor Mexicans so there will be no Shriners hospital burn center in their future. If they survive they will be horribly disfigured and be a burden on their family.
I must retract my statement that there will be ‘no Shriner’s hospital burn center’ for these poor Mexicans. The Governor of Hildago said some of the minors will be transferred to Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas.

Not only that, but there was a night vision lens on a video camera pointed at the location of the explosion before it happened. What are the odds of that? Once the explosion occurred, the night vision lens autogated from the intense amount of light. There were other others set up to record the event before the fact as well. This was not an accident. I’m guessing Pemex needed to teach the indigenous a lesson. These thefts happen daily throughout Mexico. The cost of the repair and lost revenue is probably a small fraction compared to the loss due to this kind of theft nationwide over the course of a year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pemex calculated that the parasites were actually killing the host.

I haven’t been able to find it again, but there was a video taken earlier in the evening when the Sun was still up of the breach- it was jetting gasoline about 30-40 feet into the air and the idiots were walking through the liquid and mist by the dozens. Seriously, how utterly foolish do you have to be to walk through gasoline like that? It is harsh to say it, but this is Darwin at work.

Someone I once worked with told me a story about the child of their friend who was down in Ensenada Mexico (on the Baja Peninsula). They were in a store, and the store next door was having some welding work done in the shared wall. Apparently, and unbeknownst to the welder, someone had stored dynamite in the wall between the two stores. The resulting blast killed everyone in the two stores and most of the folks on the block. It took an act of god nearly to get their child back home to the US.
Indeed, those who tapped into the line were idiots, but all the rest of the dead were likely just unfortunate innocents. There are often lots of them around when the truly stupid get to work.
