Here is the story, without too many graphic details: Youngest, in the her senior year, would drive across town over to friend’s house on alternating Thursday evenings to study with another girl for Friday’s exam. She would reliably get home at 10:45PM (she was the responsible one). The following Saturday night (after she had passed through stoplights at an intersection close to the nearby college campus the previous Thursday night) a young, blond coed on a volleyball scholarship was kidnapped, taken to a secluded elementary school’s parking lot, repeatedly raped and then brutally murdered. Her body was found the next morning stuffed beneath her car as the kids were arriving at school.
Two white kids: one from well off family, one was his pliant follower who was taught the art of rape that night.
My kid: now a blonde nurse. Studied Spanish diligently in high school and college; often the only one on her hospital floor who can interpret between staff and patients/families. One family viewed her suspiciously when she entered the room to help grandma get proper care; by the time she was leaving the family was inviting her over for the big Sunday lunch blowout, after mass.

Rape is violence and is born of a defective morality. I recall a story where a white woman was raped and she later gave the baby up for adoption. Years later, the boy looked for his birth mother. Her reaction was tragic for both her and her husband. The boy was later arrested on rape charges.
No need to be sorry; good often accompanies bad-I simply observe and work hard to learn something of value from each of life’s experiences. The murderers got life sentences and probably get it every night whether or not there is any Vaseline in the cell block.
