President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua has twice been elected to the presidency and has been a popular leader in Nicaragua since 1979. The neoconservative war criminal, John Bolton, picked by President Trump to run US foreign policy, has declared that Washington is going to overthrow the duly elected Ortega and replace him with a puppet. Then, Bolton says, the Nicaraguan people will be free.
What Bolton means is that Nicaragua will once again be under Washington’s control and free to be looted by American corporate interests. In Washington’s version of Newspeak, Orwell’s “Freedom is Slavery” becomes “Freedom is Vassalage.” “Democracy” becomes its opposite—leadership appointed dictatorially by an outside power.

Meanwhile in Venezuela, the neoconservative war criminals Bolton and Elliott Abrams are trying to smuggle in arms to the person Trump has appointed president of Venezuela in order to have a go at violently overthrowing democracy in Venezuela and replacing it with another Washington puppet. Venezuela’s state owned oil reserves, the largest in the world, are the target. This money, Washington thinks, should be going to the American oil companies, not to Venezuela’s needs.
Americans should be very proud that their country stands up for freedom and democracy. If it weren’t for Washington, surely freedom and democracy would have been stamped out by now.

How can you possibly believe that they count your votes here in the land of the free if they are willing to do these things to the rest of the world. You would have to have a very high opinion of your own self worth to ever think that they care what you think.

I find it’s really a toss up. The people of Venezuela voted for this guy ( or maybe the votes were misreported ). Then too has really fucked up the country – made obvious by over 3,000,000 fleeing the country. No food / medicine / little electricity / 1,000,000 % inflation. I don’t know what’s right – intervene or let them fix their own shit show.
Let them stew in their own shit until some brave souls risk their necks to smash the control grid.
What’s right is to stay out of other countries affairs. The situation is worse in Haiti but we say nothing because their president is our friend. Our glorious leaders do not care about democracy or human rights unless it serves their interests. Just witness Little Bush holding hands with the Saudis, Obama bowing to them, and Trump doing the sword dance with them.
Script for a Twilight Zone: They get the war they are gunning for, then General Bonespurs Trump and draft dodgers Bolton, and Elliot Abrams wake up in a fox hole surrounded by the enemy. Who craps their pants first?
i’d be inclined to view pcr w/more credibility if he disclosed that a man he has stated his admiration for & worked for was the primary driver behind overthrowing ortega while he was working for him–
as for using venezuela’s oil,we’ve definitely taken lots of iraqi oil,haven’t we?
venezuela’s oil infrastructure is in bad shape because of chavez nationalizing the oil industry so i’m not sure the us would receive any short term gain from taking their oil resources–
Nope. Team USSA just wants all the critical rare Earth minerals, not that shitty crude and their decrepit refineries.
Venezeuela would also make a great base for taking over nearby Guyana’s newly discovered high-quality offshore oil fields.
