The talking head morons put the spin on it: hard-working poor kids were cheated by rich folks buying in on the admissions swindle. Hmm, ‘poor kids’ – does this mean underprivileged black kids were cheated out of a spot at Harvard? Damn, that pisses me off that insensitive rich white folk would cheat a bunch of hard-working, underprivileged black kids out of an Ivy league education. What’s this country coming to? We must make sure there are plenty of special admissions allotments with relevant majors in African science and technological achievements with black women’s empowerment seminars at every Ivy league college for these poor kids. I can’t feel good about all this until something is done! Where’s my Oxycontin?

So you’re saying people who play pretend for a living jewed mythological high-IQ negroes out of a diploma that pretends to indicate a superior education? Got it.

Sadly what this won’t end up doing is opening up a REAL and HONEST discussion about why EVERYONE is being pushed into attending college, or why a college degree has somehow become “worth” more than it honestly should. There will be no discussion about how federal restrictions on hiring practices, undermined the ability of employers to “screen” applicants in a manner that gave THEM the best assessment of an applicant’s abilities (yes, racism claims were thrown around back then…of course). These changes essentially forced employers to “rely” on the government-approved piece of paper a college gave an applicant instead. There will also be no discussion of why there is such a crackdown on low-paid internships, apprenticeships, etc. because of how little the worker is paid. Why is it ok to pay out $50,000 a year in tuition for education in subjects that will likely be of absolutely NO USE to you in a future job, but NOT OK to put out $20,000 worth of labor to an employer who is educating you in EXACTLY the kinds of things that will benefit you in your future career? I’m sure that the control of colleges and universities by the Progressives and liberals has “nothing” to do with this move…..right??? There will be no discussion of how federally-guaranteed student loans and government grants, has allowed colleges and universities to completely avoid any downward market pressures on tuition costs, housing costs, etc. – thus putting so-called “elite” universities even farther out of reach of the vast majority. There will be no discussion of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, passed originally by Johnson, but re-authorized by the “great conservative” George W. Bush, that stuck the federal government’s nose and meddling hands, into higher education on an un-precedented level (all to help the poor of course). There will be NO discussion about anything that truly matters as the mainstream media and their advertisers, are as much a part of the problem as all these other things……and they’ve got white privilege and “rich” privilege to go after instead.

Mr. Lib, you went off on a tangent. Not that it’s a bad thing. Aside from the moral issue and the pundits crying about cheated po’ kids, the big problem for these dupes is that they committed tax fraud, big problems there. Then there’s the coaches and school administrators who will go to jail for taking bribes. I hope they reported the bribe in their tax return under other income; gambling, bribes, prostitution…

When you understand the fallacy of the importance of college, you realize that promoting a discussion at this time is not at all a tangent. This incident will ONLY work to reinforce the belief that college is essential and that cheaters hurt everyone trying and needing to attend.

It’s not a fallacy. The problem is as Dirtperson describes, not everybody who goes to college profits from it as he should. The acceleration of money printing is forcing us to find ways to spend it. College, houses, entertainment, gadgets and so on. At what other time could you imagine hearing of people in their twenties becoming billionaires and how in heck did Kylie do it by selling lip gloss? Now they want to fight deflation with negative interest rates – another stealth inflationary device after the abundance of dollars has gotten us the Kardashian phenomenon.

Further proof of what I told my son before he started college.

“They are just selling you a seat in a classroom. They do not give a shit about you or how well you do because there are plenty of other suckers they can sell that seat to.

Once you buy enough seats in their classrooms they will give you a participation trophy called a degree.

What you get for your time and money invested is entirely up to you.”

Not exactly. I saw a shit-ton of people wash out of engineering school.
