A standard (old-fashioned) view might be that govt agencies are BigBrother surveillance (and MiniLuv), while the news media is the Ministry of Truth. Google & other tech and internet companies overlap both duties. Google, YouTube, WikiPedia, et al., are the modern memory hole.
