Stucky QOTD: 10 Commandments vs U.S.A.

“I believe we would be better off following the Commandments …”  —- BL

Q1:  Are the 10 Commandments (or, part of them) compatible with our American Constitution  and/or compatible with American Culture …. or are they un-American?

Q2:  What is your immediate gut reaction when you see the picture below?

Image result for ten commandments united states constitution

================================================

Me?

Q1:  The 10 Commandments are completely INCOMPATIBLE with our Constitution.  The first four Commandments are completely at odds with American culture …. we’d all be better off if they never existed.

Q2:  The Founding Fathers would be absolutely appalled with that picture. So am I.

NOTES:

—1).  I am totally serious with my two answers. I am NOT merely trying to stir the pot.

—2).  I don’t want to influence your answers with my reasoning. I will go into detail in an upcoming 2-part article (whenever I can get to it).  Part one will examine the first four un-American commandments, and the second part the remaining six commandments.  Your responses here, whether pro or con, will help me compose the article.

—3).  Unlike my previous QOTD I hope that more than one person (RiNS) will actually answer the friggin two questions!!!!

The End.

Points taken, but how do you factor in Trump’s very blatant Zionist agenda? I understand a good number of Christian’s buy into the whole Zionist thing and mistakenly believe the lies the Zionists have created and I wish I could have 5 minutes to SHOW each individually that the Bible was corrupted originally when the Hebrew Tanach was translated and turned into the Old Testament and one of the small details with heavy implications is that in the original Hebrew, God’s covenant with ol’ Abe does NOT promise Israel only to the Jews as they incorrectly reiterate constantly. He is very clear that it is set aside for ALL who walk in the path of the Lord -Jews and Gentiles alike (and with apartheid and forced sterilizations SOP in Israel now, one can make a great case that Jews in Israel are finally openly parading around the fact Jews have no souls – and yes, as my name suggests, I’m a proud antisemite). If you think because Trump mentions “God” in his speeches that we are headed off some cliff of extremist Christianity, then you need to take a few Xanax and chill. Why are you so certain the founding father’s would have a problem with some intersection of religion and country? These were the same guys who decided “In God We Trust.” Then again, they strike me as having a more than passing interest in the more fringe/esoteric/occult/messianic stuff that we still don’t fully understand! C’mon, I’ve seen toddlers freak out and cry just from looking at the absolute strangeness on our money!!! A pyramid with an eye floating above it? What sorcery is this?! Who wants a Godless nation of heathens trying to avoid any morality? That’s not progress. That’s the insanity we are starting to see now and I want no part of it. There’s a major crisis coming if certain American’s keep behaving as if laws are created just so Corey can pretend he’s Spartacus for a minute in his own mind as he breaks the laws that stand in the way of his agenda, or if people start equating a moral code with more rules from the fascist alt-right ! God has left this nation and based on his prior record of how he treats humans who fall from grace, he’s probably not going to be helping us out anytime soon!

More then half of the founding fathers would disagree with that picture because they were Freemasons . From 1941 to 1971( 9 )members of the supreme Court were Freemasons. They were the ones who removed the Bible and prayers from the school system Along with all this civil rights shit. The remaining Freemasons got abortion passed . These men were all high level ( 30+ degree ) Freemasons. They were obeying orders coming down from a higher authority. The goal has been to completely remove and replace Christianity with their pagan religion. Freemasonry is evil.
As disappointing as Trump has been he is all we have got. Within the next 4 to 5 years the Democrats Communist Traitors will have a complete lock . Texas and Florida will go blue. So I ask you …..does it really matter it Trump uses the Cross and Flag? Our nation is going to tear itself to pieces. I believe within the next 10 years our nation will be no more.

“The Christian religion and Masonry have one and the same common origin: Both are derived from the worship of the Sun. The difference between their origin is, that the Christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun.” ~ Thomas Paine

Catholicism is judaism with pagan flavor meant to make the forced conversion of the Europeans more palatable to the converted.
Protestantism is Catholicism with most of the paganism stripped out, so effectively judaism.
The pagan religion was not a religion like the abrahamic religions. It was more of a poetic and scientific system of self and societal improvement and the gods were personifications of scientific observations about nature. They understood genetics. It goes back to survival in Europe during the ice age. Other races have similar traditional systems unique to their experience.
Abrahamic religions are about dominance and were invented in the crossroads by people of mixed blood and no soil. They came from the desert and bring with them spiritual desert.

Interesting take. Agreed regarding catholicism and protestantism… but then you introduce Abraham and muddy the waters. Abraham is critical to understanding the grace of God through faith alone.

Romans 4:16-25 KJB… “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”

There is no room for spiritual deserts in the above; and at the same time, no room for religion. Yet Paul refers to Abraham as “the father of us all”. Ideas as to why?

As an interesting aside; examine the words “…and calleth those things which be not as though they were…”

That’s creation ex nihilo!

In another 4 years that won’t be “it.” Keep in mind the whole left vs. right dichotomy was designed and implemented on purpose as a calculated way to keep us divided, so something will have to exist to fill the vacuum because game over on the nation if that division suddenly ceases and all the power went to the little kids on the left. Also, it is helpful to keep in mind just how much Israel manipulates and even dictates what we read, watch and hear, especially online. They have a need to induce WWIII and for the Gog-Magog prophecies to occur and they will ALWAYS use the Goy as cannon fodder, as they did with 9/11 and the war on their enemy, the Muslim. Bibi saw this time that the same trick he used for 9/11 would not work. The internet is like one big warning to Jews that we are wise to them and Israel has total awareness online, so they couldn’t miss it. And certainly they noticed the repeated false flags with Iran didn’t induce a bite from us stupid Goy, so how will they march us off to die for Israel in a war against Japan and Turkey? Start planting the seeds of nationalism now and regularly water them. Anyone else seeing it? The roots are forming for a VERY HYPER nationalistic America that will align with Poland to go to war against Japan and Turkey after some sort of Israeli/Zionist deceit is sprung on all the nations. And the bizarre choice of warring nations is directly from the Zionist mouth of one of their big mouths who just can’t resist showing off how smart and clever he likes to think he is!

Stuck, you got your green card already, there is no need to keep doing the immigrant dance (what a country!) and voting Democrat. Be real, dammit. Real Americans hate to lose elections or wars. The founding fathers were a bunch of rebels who would have been hanged for traitors if Washington’s unconventional tactics hadn’t worked.

When I was in grade school, the pledge of allegiance included the phrase ‘one nation under God’. The cross atop the flagpole is the representation of that long-forgotten phrase. So what, our coins no longer say ‘in God we trust’ and dollar bills no longer say they are convertible into gold or silver coin.

The founding fathers would be appalled at the seemingly normal sight of a man in drag, a petulant president, a world empire, a people up to their balls in debt, a citizenry with their heads buried in a modern version of Mao’s little red book. Just reading about the Bush 2 presidency would give half of them a heart attack.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I can’t believe you would erase 40% of the Ten Commandments to accommodate a country on the ropes. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain. Even Israel, a country formed with God’s own hands, was not spared when they erased the commandments because of inconvenience. You place America’s founding fathers above the Jews founding fathers, hmmm. One day, Americans will laud Kanye above the founding fathers since you are too eager to remove the base on which they stand.

When asked which is the greatest commandment, Jesus replied,

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Mt 22:37-40)

“Civilization” as in big countries can’t exist without religion. The idea that a government can exist without religion is absurd. The great thing about the west is that we believe we are free. That’s the great con. The religion we are dominated with isn’t the old catholic church or the Puritans, but the idea that we are free and equal. Its absurd just like the belief in the afterlife or that the right president will save our country. Those are our chains: faith, hope, and love.

One of his best. Great selection.

I had to go look up the 10 Commandments to make sure I understood them fully. The last five serves as the basis for Western legal canon, and the first five are decidedly Semitic in nature. Kind of like the Old Testament/Gospels paradox. They work together or they stand alone, but do they apply to American Culture as a whole? I don’t think so and I don’t think that they ever did. It isn’t a matter of a changing set of values over time, but a disconnect from the beginning. If they intended it to mirror the 10 Commandments, there never would have been a separation between Church and State, obviously.

Take #2,

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth…”

The Founders selected the Bald Eagle as a symbol of the United States before there was a Constitution, so that kind of contradicts any strict adherence to biblical unction.

So the answer to the first question is yes for just over half of the 10 Commandments and no for the balance.

The photo has no effect on me whatsoever as a depiction of a flag with a cross. In an America where we are exposed to video and photos of transgendered 10 year olds twerking for creepy old homos in public libraries every other week, is it supposed to shock me? I’m so desensitized to imagery, I don’t think I can be offended anymore. Are you talking about the propaganda value of it? Like an opening shot from The Handmaid’s Tale that’ll incense the blue-hairs in problem glasses to get out in the streets and scream into bullhorns? Yeah, I get it, America is a fascist theocracy run by evil White men. Check.

Yawn.

All the faux outrage at every little display of Christianity or any accommodation to anything that represents Heritage America has zero to do with protecting angry lesbians from being forced to wear wimples by The Elders or whatever other sad fantasy they spin in their fevered dreams of the dad they never had, and everything to do with dispossessing the Founder’s Posterity of North America and every resource in it. If a cross on top of a flagpole bothers you, it’s a safe bet that you’re bothered by all kinds of nonsense all the time. Like every spray painted swastika and hand tied noose hung on a college campus, it was probably the work of someone with an agenda radically opposed to, rather than a true believer in Gilead.

You gotta relax, bro.

PS: Missed you at the shindig.

Q1: Our Constitutional Republic was designed to accommodate a moral populace. It was not designed to provide morality. Christianity and the morality found within the 10 commandments seems to dovetail nicely with the polity. It has arguably produced “A Great Nation”.
Q2: I have no problem with the picture whatsoever, it is obviously a private matter, and god bless whomever displays such, not my place to walk or talk. Shit, I support freaks putting a pentagram on top if that is their wish.
If it is a government flag, I would prefer separation, but I am still not incensed over it.

The Constitution is based on Judeo-Christian morals as listed in the 10 commandments (not necessarily the first 4 commandments). The Founding Fathers also recognized the problems of having the government controlling religion and moral beliefs through laws and regulations. That is why they made sure that the federal government did not through the 1st amendment allow a creation of a state religion. This does not prevent the separate states from being a theocracy only the federal government. There is no where in the Constitution where it says there is a separation of church and state. You cannot separate your personal beliefs and morals from your day to day living no matter even if you are a politician or otherwise. Decisions you make everyday are based on these. As for what the Founding Fathers opinion of that picture I don’t know what they would think. Even though a lot people would not like it, you can express your opinion but it is a free country to display it as long as it is not on federal property. My gut reaction is that it is really tacky but I don’t the context of where it is at.

As for Trump declaring ‘God bless America’ he is just expressing his beliefs. As of right now, it is very good politically good thing to do for his base but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe himself.

As John Adams said “Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

I’ll play. Question one is moot, even though the law is holy, just and good. The commandments (the Law – Exodus 20) were given to the nation Israel; no one else. Much takes place with God and Israel prior to Exodus 20. Y’all really need to begin to understand this. Attempting to follow the commandments is NOT “Christian”; it’s Jewish. (How misled is the world?) They were given because Israel was being a pain in Gods ass, to prove to them that they were sinners in need of a Savior. The reasoning was given to Paul to record for us.

Gal 3:19… “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was ADDED because of transgressions, till the seed (Jesus – Messiah) should come to whom the promise was made (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob); and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator (Moses).”

Paul shows that it works on us “heathen” too… not just the nation Israel.

Rom 3:19-20… “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

It is moot in that, for the past 2,000 years the OT law (the 10 + 590 commandments) has been in no effect other than to prove to man that it is impossible to keep. The law is a direct reflection of Gods character; only He (Jesus) could keep it. Man today exists by the grace of God (Jesus) alone.

Rom 6:14-15… “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.”

Want justification before a Holy God? It is found in the same. Jesus Christ. Not the 10 (600+ really) commandments.

Gal 2:16… “Knowing that a man is NOT justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and NOT by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Gal 3:21… “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

A grown responsible man does not need rules and regulations to guide his behavior… as if they ever could. If laws worked why is there crime at all? We are, by nature of free will, trouble makers. Ironically, it is the same free will that will set us free. God wants those who actively and freely choose Him.

Gal 3:21-25… “Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which COULD HAVE given life, verily righteousness SHOULD have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

If you are attempting to keep Gods perfect law, even with the best of intentions, to earn your way into His good favor; you are missing out on the magnitude of the grace He freely offers, with which so much more can be done in this world!

As for question two… I see hypocrisy, ignorance, arrogance, lies, deceit and the deceived. When I hear people say “God bless America” I want to ask, what would He do that for? The same goes for any other country on earth. God is not blessing/cursing countries as He once was; He is offering salvation to individuals. For how much longer, I don’t know.

Pastor ,read Romans 1:18-32 and then tell God is not judging nation. It say ” For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men” Pastor ,I could give you bible verses that say God’s judgement is in the here and now.

I’ve read the verses BB and know they are as true as true gets. Was that wrath not revealed in the flood? The Bible also says “build an ark” and “don’t eat bacon”. Why are we ignoring those instructions today? It says “turn your swords into plowshares” than turns around and says “turn your plowshares into swords”. Which do we do? Jesus tells the 12 “don’t worry about what to eat or wear or even money, because God will take care of those things”. Paul says… “if you don’t work, you don’t eat”. Understanding this seeming dilemma, these contradictions, is called “rightly dividing the word of truth”. While God does not change, the ways in which He deals with mankind over time, does. I can give you all sorts of verses to make nearly any argument I wanted to. That’s deception. It’s not enough just to provide verses, one must provide verses in context, rightly dividing prophesy from mystery.

Prophesy – that information and instruction which was spoken (by the prophets, Jesus in the red letters and the 12) since the world began. Acts 3:19-21…

Mystery – that information and instruction which was kept secret since the world began (revealed to Paul in due time). Romans 16:25-27…

If God were judging the world today, we wouldn’t be corresponding with one another. God, via that which He explained to PAUL (the mystery – read Eph. 3), is offering the world grace today (the fellowship of the mystery); not judgement. He has (temporarily) reconciled Himself to us (His creation, as nasty as we are) in order that we might choose to reconcile ourselves to Him. For the past 2,000 years this is so. You are more correct about the freemasons (and their ilk and leader) and their ability to deceive the world then you yet know. The deception goes THIS far. The mystery revealed to Paul is hidden from 99.9% of Christianity. Please read 2 Cor. 5 in your KJB… and understand this very basic timeline.

Past = Genesis – Acts
Present = Romans – Philemon
Future = Hebrews – Revelation

We cannot take the past or the future as our own. We live in the present. We cannot assume the promises God made to Israel as ours. 95% of the Bible is about them and their relationship to the Gentile nations. We (saved people today) have far better promises, heavenly promises! Study all of Romans, especially chapter 3 and look for the words “but now” which indicate a very big change. The past and the future belong to Jews and Gentiles. The present belongs to the body of Christ – the new creature; where there is NEITHER Jew NOR Gentile (Gal 3:28).

We know the current “Israel” is a counterfeit nation; the synagogue of satan. When Gods judgement begins, it will begin there; where anti-christ will sit in a temple and declare himself to be God. Then… judgement is on buddy, it’s on! Don’t wish for it. The longer God waits, the more time we have to spread the gospel of Christ and get people saved from that judgement!

Peace…

A cross mounted on top of a flag pole doesn’t offend me. It’s just sitting there and isn’t doing anything such as saying things. However, things such as that illustrated in the image below and the shit the people in that building say certainly offends me. It is the highest level of absurdity and hypocrisy when government wishes to post the 10 Commandments in that their VERY EXISTENCE virtually requires the violation of the 8th.

Libertine implies something I am not (although in the past, some might have used that term). Libertarian is fine, but not the same as libertine. Although in seeing the definition below, I will attest to number 2 – open minded at least.

From Dictionary.com:
noun
1. a person who is morally or sexually unrestrained, especially a dissolute man; a profligate; rake.
2. a freethinker in religious matters.
3. a person freed from slavery in ancient Rome.

It’s amazing that we get to live so long and yet 72 is not but 8 years away from yours truly. I told you about the time I saw in my rear view mirror, a car racing towards me. An older gentleman suffered a stroke out in the desert road while driving a nice sedan and listening to classical music. He was not overweight and didn’t smell of cigarette smoke. A vessel just broke in his brain and that was the end of normal life until he died a few months later.

I often think of Maggie and fear she may wander away for good some day. I hope not. I regret your loss, Bea. Little by little the circle of trusty friends shrinks and takes away pieces of our own life’s puzzle, a tapestry of friends and family that keep us connected as part of something here on this mortal plane.

How much must Bruce Jenner fear death that he decided to start over again as a woman? Yet, he has not the reproductive ability they have to generate life, condemned instead to live it as a joke, a mockery of nature that split us into one or the other sex, allowing only fleeting instances of copulation to accomplish another recreation to replace us all. Dying, we shall die. Death hardens its heart to the anguished cries and plows us all into the earth to be remembered no more by the generation to follow.

He sleeps, saith the Lord. What dreams do the dead dream? A childhood gone perhaps, of innocence lost and sweet grandmothers and loving fathers. A song perhaps, of nature’s croaks and chirps and buzzing, working in tandem to fashion out a perfect day of the Lord. A perfect day to die, a perfect day to be born.

he rode past me and kept on goin. Never said nothin. He just rode on past and he had this blanket wrapped around him and he had his head down and when he rode past I seen he was carryin fire in a horn the way people used to do and I could see the horn from the light inside of it. About the color of the moon. And in the dream I knew that he was goin on ahead and that he was fixin to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold and I knew that whenever I got there he would be there.

“Dying, we shall die. Death hardens its heart to the anguished cries and plows us all into the earth to be remembered no more by the generation to follow.”

1 Cor 15:51-55…. “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”

I wake up each morning and ask myself a question. What’s the day going to be like? Will I live and have an opportunity to somehow serve the Lord in truth and love; or will I die and go to be with Him in eternity. Either scene is just fine with me.

The Ten Commandments would be perfect guidance for Americans if you just put an extra “not” into each one of them:

Thou shalt not not have false idols.
Thou shalt not not commit adultery
Thou shalt not not covet your neighbor’s ass (or his donkey)

etc.

You seem to be very hung up on the word “greed.” Covet is what is in the commandment, so I used it. Covet is about the wanting of something specific of someone else’s. Greed is simply the desire for more. How greed is fulfilled is where the true problems come in. If it is fulfilled by working hard to create something or some service that can be voluntarily exchanged with others for money or something else they have…no real issues. Obviously it becomes an issue it is life-consuming. But you seem to want to hang lots of things on greed, when it is just another human impulse with no more inherent problems associated with it unless acted upon and HOW is it acted upon. As I have always said, the biggest problem with greed is when the power and violence of government gets applied in its service. Then we see the real exploitation of people to that end.

Whenever I read Stucky’s QOTDs I start wondering how he would answer them. Then, on every occasion and just in the nick of time, he asks: “Me?” and then provides his answers!

That’s awesome

Q1 – in part, yes. But only in part. 50% to be exact. The first 4 of the commandments have to do with God. The 5th is more orientated towards family and is ironically the only commandment that contains a specific promise. None of the first 5 could be enforced today in America by means of the U.S. Constitution. Yet that very document has given rise to thousands of other laws meant to codify the remaining 5 commandments – which address Man’s relations with his fellow peoplekind.

It’s also interesting how the commandments are prioritized: God & parents followed by others (significant or otherwise, friends, & neighbors) and by severity of transgression.

Q2 – best not to combine the two. Jesus was not a nationalist or a patriot. He said his kingdom was not of this world.

Trump, or anyone else, can throw around some “God bless” like it is some kind of mantra and it doesn’t prove anything about their spiritual condition or beliefs. Lincoln comes to mind as a proof. Trump is a liar and a good one…or his followers like to swallow. Maybe a bit of both. As an anarcho-Christian, I hate the statist church and the govt. So, suck it and leave me alone. Organized religion has been used as just one more tool to destroy all of Western Civilization, not just the United States. These people gladly import the people who want us dead. And they believe in some delusion called “the rapture”, when God will rescue them from the reality they helped create. While they grovel for the people who invented their religion, those same people laugh as they stab them in the back.

Not to worry, though. Soon, your entire civilization will be dead. And so will your religion.

The 10 Commandments were completely in line with what the Founding Fathers established with the creation of this Nation. American culture has completely diverged with the founding principles (the uS Constitution (NOT a typo) AND the 10 Commandments.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the photo above. The person or entity that placed the cross atop the flagpole had every right to do so under the 1st Amendment. This is a form of freedom of speech. Don’t like it? Too bad! Put up anything you like on your property. If I don’t like it – too bad!

If President Trump wishes to end his speeches with God bless America, that is his 1st Amendment right. If you don’t like it, too bad! End any of your speeches with anything you want. If anybody else doesn’t like it; it’s too damned bad!!

Sorry Stucky, but I never took you for one of those triggered snowflakes.

Agree with RIS, government is now god.

Q1. First five commandments deal with man’s relationship with God, Next five would be very compatible with the Constitution, especially about the lying, killing and stealing.
Q2. As far as the picture I have no opinion other than “whatever blows your dress up.” It does reflect how the the so-called Christian church has replaced the God of the Bible with the government.
Back in Jesus’ day the Church (Jews) wanted Him dead as he was stirring up too much shit. So they got the Romans to do their dirty work for them. Problem solved.
Today, I see hardly any difference between radical Islam and radical Evangelical Christianity. At least they are honest about killing the infidels. The Church (so-called) would rather “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God (the State) things that are God’s (the states.) We had rather have the MIC kill our infidels for us, ’cause “we just love everybody.”

Without going into detail, I believe the Bible clearly teaches that God gives us the government we deserve. Holy shit!! We must have really pissed him off.

The Ten Commandments were given by God to man to give man a law that reflects the nature of God, for man to follow to be pleasing to God. By trying to follow God’s laws man was able to learn that he could not keep the law and realized that man needed a Savior to be able to be accepted by God to follow Him.

As the Ten Commandments were given to the Jewish people, I do not see the reason you feel they are for America to take or leave; but I will say this; if we as a people were able to once again, respect the rule of law, we would see an drastic turnaround from the abyss we are currently heading toward.

Q1: by American I assume you mean USA. Since the USA was founded by Abrahamists then all of the Ten Commandments are “American” in that sense.

The continent of North America already had a spiritual tradition that went back longer than Abrahamism (and its derivatives: judaism, christianity, islam, capitalism and socialism) I would sat that all of the ten commandments are un American in that sense. (And un European, un African, un Asian, etc)

Q2: As a descendant of Europeans, I’d like to point out that the Abrahamist invaders treated the European culture and people with the same courtesy as they did to the native Americans. So yeah I’m appalled to see the solar cross coopted and used as an idol of submission over America. But since the USA was founded and is run by Abrahamists, it appears to be used appropriately in the photo.

Note: all of these arguments of religion are like the arguments of “left” vs “right” in this world. All of the options (christianity vs atheism, socialism vs capitalsim, the JQ, islam, etc) are really the same option, just with slight variations to make us think that there are sides. The religion of the world is dominance and it began in the middle east with civilization. The most effective tool for dominance is abrahamic religion, which spawned Judaism, christianity, islam, capitalism, and socialism all of which are about power of the few over the masses.

I believe you have Q. 1 wrong. It should read – Do the Constitution and American vales measure up to the Commandments? My answer, no, of course they don’t, in the fullness of their expression. However, they have proven to be a strong and well-based starting place for self-government. The problems we experience today arise from the failure of our people to adhere to either one of those earlier sets of Rules, not to any incompetence within the Commandments or Constitution. The Founders understood the need to keep the government of people and the government of souls separate and distinct. To paraphrase Paine, we need government to protect us from our evils, and we need the Commandments to save our souls.

I have never been particularly religious. I grew up agnostic. My mother took us to a Presbyterian church where she sang in the choir. I was made to go to Sunday School, but mostly to gain an understanding as to what organized religion was about. My father, bless his soul, was completely and viciously opposed to religious organizations. The reason was because of the way his father was treated as a first-born descendant of Irish Catholic immigrants. My grandfather had to abandon his religion in order to survive. When he married, he had to marry in a protestant church. He had to become one of the ‘lace curtain’ Irish of New York. Yet, he became a lawyer, was one of the founders of the New York City Criminal Bar Association. As a lawyer he spoke Latin fluently; he defended over one hundred murder-one cases and lost only one defendant to the electric chair. Yet he could not practice his native Catholicism because of the social constraints of the time.

As for my beliefs, they are my beliefs, and no one else’s business.

Q.2 I would answer equivocally. The founders would have been concerned about the combination of the cross and the flag; they often used biblical references in their writings and religious references appear in early coinage, but they mostly spoke of God in the abstract. Their concern was the dictation of religious affiliation to the people. Remember the religious wars is England which their ancestors had to deal with. If the combination was intended to associate a particular set of beliefs with the Government, then they would certainly oppose the reference.
