As an outsider from an ethnic perspective, I would see the term “Fredo” as implying more than that someone is Italian. Terms like Wop, Dago, Eyetie, Ginzo, Goombah, Greaseball, Guido, Guinea, Mook, Polentone, Terrone, and Wog have always been the generic insult name.
Seems that calling someone a Fredo implies not only that you are an asshole brother, but that you are a backstabbing piece of shit that can’t be trusted as well. Maybe Mr. Cuomo should think about that probable reference instead.
And I looked for some derogatory names for my own heritage (Hungarian) and found Bohunk, Hunkie, and Goulash. Not all that bad if you ask me. Anything with “hunk” in it can’t be all bad…
