North Korea Says Denuclearization “Off Negotiating Table” After Breakdown In Talks

Via ZeroHedge

Just two days after North Korea resumed its “dotard” insults at President Trump, North Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations said on Saturday morning that further denuclearization talks are no longer needed with the Trump administration as it appears negotiations have stalled, reported Reuters.

In a statement to Reuters, NoKo ambassador, Kim Song, said: “We do not need to have lengthy talks with the US now and denuclearization is already gone out of the negotiating table.”

He added that “sustained and substantial dialogue” sought by the Trump administration was a “time-saving trick” to accommodate its domestic political agenda, likely referring to the upcoming election year where President Trump is trying to get as many wins as possible to fulfill talking points of first-term success.

We noted on Friday that there was less than a month to go before North Korea’s self-imposed end of year deadline to cut off nuclear negotiations with Washington if no new concessions were given in the path towards denuclearization.

President Trump has told reporters he has a “good relationship” with Kim Jong Un, though he has said the US reserved the right to use military force against Pyongyang.

With talks stalled and denuclearization off the table, it appears that the US and North Korea have wasted several years in discussions and have accomplished absolutely nothing.

As Kim and President Trump are back at flinging insults at one another amid a breakdown in talks, North Korea said it’s preparing a “Christmas gift” for the US, likely in the form of a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch.

Stay tuned as geopolitical uncertainty on the Korean Peninsula could erupt into the new year with a 20 megaton bang.

Any country with nuclear capability would be insane to give it up.

The South Korean gov’t needs to tell the US to get out of the country and negotiate with the North Korean gov’t on their own.

The north has nukes. The south has everything else. They should be able to work out an amicable reunification where both leaders compromise to form one nation.

The north has no incentive to further inflame the rest of the world by gobbling up the south via a nuclear threat or invasion. The south has no designs on a destitute north. Combined, their people can embark on a decades long transformation of a unified peninsula that’s peaceful but with a nuclear deterrent capability.

I would assume the ideological differences between north and south are just to large to overcome. This, I do not know. What is the overwhelming reason for the 2 to come together? What does the North gain if the ruling family cannot continue? What does the South get out of it if they cannot get control of the nukes?

The elite of the north can retire in style and become folk heroes. Decades on alert is no way to live a life, even a privileged one like the Kim clan.

The unified country has the nukes under a gov’t that looks more like the current south, but with an attitude that reflects the gadsden flag.

nah. sk used to push and pine for reunification. after germany reunified the sk’s studied the event and its consequences heavily and in detail. when they saw how much trouble germany had absorbing the now culturally different east germans, and how much germany had to accomodate the backward and uneducated east germans, and how much germany had to pay to clean up after the communists, the sk’s stopped talking very much about reunification.

The Asians are known to be patient people, but enough is enough.
The North is failing just a bit more each year. At some point, life will be so intolerable that the Kim clan might get lynched and they might realize that. I suspect that leading a failed state may not be as enticing as living a good life in a thriving one.
I think Kim is pushing to get out from under given a reasonable opportunity. Why else all the recent noise after decades of silence?
South Korea is going to experience issues regardless of what happens. I think it would be better if the South tried to broker a deal that allows the Kim clan to survive and end the stalemate.

Ahhhh, a distractive prelude for the Ig report. Bet monday a missile flies and the media acts like it was the first one and pits the ig report on page 9 while Nk get headliner status. Then a real gun mass shooting will take the cake. They will start naming guns and identifying the guns gender instead of the human……
