Yes, the broader trend is cooling thanks to the solar minimum. But there are also wild swings from new record lows to a single day of record high temperatures. This is similar to what was taking place during the 1930s. There was the dust bowl with drought and heat in the summer, and the winters were still the coldest on record which we have not yet reached on a sustained basis. It is just nonsense to claim that the violent swings from cold to heat are caused by us driving cars around when that pattern has taken place throughout history.
Storms are also not an indication of CO2 levels as they are claiming. There was the famous Spanish Treasure Ship fleet where all 11 ships were sunk in the Hurricane of 1715. The list of the worst storms from the 19th century forward is 1804, 1806, 1821, 1900, 1903, 1938, 1944, 1955, 1960, 1999, 2011, and 2012. The worst hurricane was 1900 insofar if the measurement is the number of people dead which reached 12,000 in Galveston, Texas.
The 1938 New England Hurricane pictured here was far worse than anything we have seen in my lifetime. Computer models rooted in cyclical analysis with a long database simply reveal that there is really nothing new in weather that we have not seen before.
The bottom line is rather clear. The broader trend is moving colder. That does not mean that there will be days where the temperature will swing abruptly to a record high. We are looking at sustained trends, not a single day that makes a record low or high. It is sustained trends, not just the volatility.
It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Mid 60’s in NH this weekend.
And heavenly rain.
Glad to see you here. Others asked about you. I won’t say who. But they did.
That’s nice. Yer feet don’t fit no branch, anyway.
welcome home.
Yay!!!
Things change all the time. Global warming a tax and control scam aimed at the simple-minded.
I think we have a cooling sun and the future looks colder, how long? Who knows. I sure don’t need to be taxed more because of it.
But if you will send lots and lots of money, they will “fix” it for you. They promise they will. Really! Just send the money, OK?
But the idiotic and tyrannical experiment with alcohol prohibition ended in late 1933, so at least everyone was able to ignore the weather and go have a legal drink.
When the earth is a couple of billion years old, a decade or more of meterological “history” is hardly the basis for any speculation.
According to another poster it is mildly sociopathic to believe what you see with your own two eyes.
Much better to listen to the experts.
It is whatever they say it is.
Always the Comedian! You gat me belly laughing out loud with that one.
60s here in Moville. And rain, rain and more rain.
Mississippi rising.
1 above here at sundown. -18 by morning. Sunshine with little umph and a NW breeze of 11 mph. Vehicles complain when started. Wool socks are a comfort not to be ignored. Something roasting in the oven makes a house feel like a home. Two fingers of good whiskey and Emmy Lou Harris in my ear. Life is good here.
according to this article we are currently in an ice age–
During a GSM period (30 to 90,000 years; we are in the Eddy Minimum), the Polar Jet Stream meanders farther south with frigid air (sorry I forgot the exact term but it’s sort of like the Polar Vortex) and of course, the Jet must return (with warm air). The path down loops close to the path up and as the weather system (front) moves swiftly east across North America, there are rapid changes in temperature at fixed locations (first a blast of arctic cold followed shortly by tropical warmth). It’s been like that in GSMs about 2 million years.
Follow the Jet Stream.
reversed polarity sunspots have appeared on the sun as they should–
Don’t tell Greta , Al Gore or address the UN . Lest wait and see what they blame next since it’s only Americans not India or China fouling water & air at record levels
I looked outside this am when I got up it appeared as though the moon was wickedly full and bright. Wrong. Snow! WTF? Yesterday it was 70. It never snows in w Texas, only the second time in 5 years for me. Oh well, back to the 60s & 70s tomorrow.
Wolf Moon on my birthday, a fabulous thing to see….
So far I’ve seen barely a couple inches of snow here in Central NJ. The Farmer’s Almanac predictions of heavy precip has come up short so far because the temps have been mild.
When winter comes I secretly pray for snow. It not only covers up the dead grass and garbage-strewn suburban streets, it keeps some of the Rabble off the roads. Much of our weather is determined by the jet stream and I expect, like most years I’ve been here, to see a Nor’Easter roll around near St. Paddy’s Day.
68 this morning at 0500 when the storm alerts went off. It is 57 and dropping right now.
