I have two friends 72 and 62 years old who I recently taught, for the first time in their lives, how to throw decent punches, into my heavy bag in my barn. The 72 year old really took to it. He found a boxing gym, and now works out twice a week in it. He was raised without a man around.
My first son, brought him over and over to karate class. Got his black belt, proud of him for that. That’s masculine. Could take your knee out with one well placed kick. Or in this case, someone’s balls. If they ever existed.

When we were young teens, my buddies and I would go to my friend Sean’s house and in his basement his brother had a small gym set up.
His brother boxed and played football ( eventually was O-line at Univ Maryland).. so we’d strap on these giant gloves which were too heavy for our spindly 12-13 y/o arms and have “tournaments”.
We’d draw cards and then have 30 second rounds just wailing, flailing away at each other– the occasional bloody nose or fat lip but no real damage.
I’d have to say we threw better punches back then as sixth graders than these 2 did…strangely engrossing to watch though.

Lots of fire. Lots of it. Kangaroo Island, one of my favorite stopmping grounds for a trip back to nature, is in ruins. Huge amounts of wildlife gone, some maybe even to the point of extinction.
Arson and lightning are the causes. The arsonists, many of them teenagers, need to be woodchipped. Really. It is the worst crime imaginable on a continent as dry as this.
