To be fair, ha!, mark grossed me out with the link about animal cruelty. The article asked how it would look like if people were treated the same way cows are treated in a slaughterhouse. Chainsaw gives us a glimpse of that with a bunch of cannibals slaughtering people like they were cattle. Curiously, while we feel sick at the cruelty, we also feel titillated by the scantily clad women who we know will soon be sizzling on the grill or slow cooking in the smokehouse.

That is not evolution. That is adaptation. I adapted to beer consumption in 1981. In 2001 I had to re adapt to life without beer or alcohol after adapting to drinking a gallon of vodka a day. If you’re drinking in school, you’re probably headed for jail, institutions, or death unless you quit. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’. 🙂
I adapted to beer at 14, smoking at 12 (off and on until age 17, from which I have continually smoked). I’m still here and not in an institution, hold a steady job and support myself and my son, and remain healthy. The key is not letting these things take you over. And add things that improve your health, such as a healthy diet and supplements, such as herbs and teas.

Bob, you did the right thing by stopping, for sure, and it’s very hard to do. I watched my brother go through it. Not easy at all.
Some studies say alcoholism runs in the family. For example, if you father was an alcoholic, you’re more likely to be one. The result are mixed, though, with some people whose parents who were alcohol addicted never drinking at all, yet others will, and some only occasionally.
My family shows that. My father drank enough after work and on weekends to be called an alcoholic, and my step-father was a full-blown alcoholic and died from it. My oldest brother wouldn’t drink, my next oldest brother became an alcoholic, and I’m an occasional drinker.
You have to be very strong to overcome an addiction and I’m glad you were strong enough to do so.
