What If the Lockdown Was All A Big Mistake?

Guest Post by Ron Paul

From California to New Jersey, Americans are protesting in the streets. They are demanding an end to house arrest orders given by government officials over a virus outbreak that even according to the latest US government numbers will claim fewer lives than the seasonal flu outbreak of 2017-2018.

Across the US, millions of businesses have been shut down by “executive order” and the unemployment rate has skyrocketed to levels not seen since the Great Depression. Americans, who have seen their real wages decline thanks to Federal Reserve monetary malpractice, are finding themselves thrust into poverty and standing in breadlines. It is like a horror movie, but it’s real.

Last week the UN Secretary General warned that a global recession resulting from the worldwide coronavirus lockdown could cause “hundreds of thousands of additional child deaths per year.” As of this writing, less than 170,000 have been reported to have died from the coronavirus worldwide.

Many Americans have also died this past month because they were not able to get the medical care they needed. Cancer treatments have been indefinitely postponed. Life-saving surgeries have been put off to make room for coronavirus cases. Meanwhile hospitals are laying off thousands because the expected coronavirus cases have not come and the hospitals are partially empty.

What if the “cure” is worse than the disease?

Countries like Sweden that did not lock down their economy and place the population under house arrest are faring no worse than countries that did. Sweden’s deaths-per-million from coronavirus is lower than in many lockdown countries.

Likewise, US states that did not arrest citizens for merely walking on the beach are not doing worse than those that did. South Dakota governor Kristi Noem said last week, “we’ve been able to keep our businesses open and allow people to take on some personal responsibility.” South Dakota has recorded a total of seven coronavirus deaths.

Kentucky, a strict lockdown state, is five times more populated than South Dakota, yet it has some 20 times more coronavirus deaths. If lockdown and house arrest are the answer, shouldn’t those numbers be reversed, with South Dakota seeing mass death while Kentucky dodges the coronavirus bullet?

When Anthony Fauci first warned that two million would die, there was a race among federal, state, and local officials to see who could rip up the Constitution fastest. Then Fauci told us if we do what he says only a quarter of a million would die. They locked America down even harder. Then, with little more than a shrug of the shoulders, they announced that a maximum of 60,000 would die, but maybe less. That is certainly terrible, but it’s just a high-average flu season.

Imagine if we had used even a fraction of the resources spent to lock down the entire population and focused on providing assistance and protection to the most vulnerable – the elderly and those with serious medical conditions. We could have protected these people and still had an economy to go back to when the virus had run its course. And it wouldn’t have cost us six trillion dollars either.

Governments have no right or authority to tell us what business or other activity is “essential.” Only in totalitarian states does the government claim this authority. We should encourage all those who are standing up peacefully and demanding an accounting from their elected leaders. They should not be able to get away with this.

The essay by Dr. Paul should be titled “WHY the Lockdown Was All a Big Mistake!”

There is no “What If” about it.

Absolutely! Once again the American people have heard nothing, and I mean NOTHING, out of the a large majority of the congress asshats. Just what the hell do we need so many of these parasites for?

America needed a good kick in the pants, and needs more.

The Communists are on the march.

Ron Paul and the libertarian crowd aren’t much good in a firefight.

This is war and folks don’t even realize it yet.

The lockdown wasn’t a mistake.
It was a calculated choice by the government, banks, and politicians. They chose to wreck the economy and the virus was as good an excuse as any to deter and delay potentially devastating bank runs.
The large scale bank runs haven’t happened yet but they will, if or when real estate foreclosures and corporate bankruptcies are allowed to occur. IMO, this was a prelude to what will happen within the next 6-9 months as the economy slows further and MMT with attendant currency inflation aggravates the situation.
Ron Paul is holding back. The cure IS worse than the disease and it won’t be corrected until the financial system is reset … but even then, without some sort of comprehensive change in politics and banking, a reset may bring an even worse system with it.

This was NO MISTAKE!!

This was planned, that’s why they call it a Plannedemic.

The house of cards was about to collapse.
The overnight repo market was beyond repair.
All the QE-inflated cream had to be systematically scraped off the top in the fashion that simply made it look like “everyone” lost “everything.”
The few folks who were “sacrificed” in the public’s eyes, have already been given way more than they lost via the “stimulus” package and more is likely coming in the current one being shoved around.
Those who did this to us were paid off with the advance knowledge that allowed them to skim a shitload of creme for themselves before we all woke up to a collapsing stock market. And they are in BOTH major parties.

Ron gives these mass murdering, liberty-destroying, future guillotine testers way too much credit.

The marketplace already has an outstanding way of determining essential versus non-essential workers. The government has NO business making those decisions for us all. They in fact need to be put back into the voluntary marketplace so the market can once again decide if THEY are in fact essential or not.

Noem has been giving mixed messages since the beginning… In Rapid City, SD, nonessential businesses are closed. Sadly, there are small businesses that will not reopen after the shutdown.

This afternoon, Noem said the lack of supplies is making it challenging to address COVID-19 outbreaks across the state. And “I would like to be a lot more aggressive, so that why I am continuing to advocate for more supplies.

The biggest complaint from people is no one really knows the true number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

I like Ron Paul, but he is completely wrong about this. The lock downs were not a mistake, and were the only weapon available to fight this thing. First, stop with all the bullshit about this being the flu or anything like it. This is a bio-engineered virus containing both elements of SARS and of AIDS . It attacks both the respiratory system and the circulatory system shutting off blood supply to the organs and causing organ damage, in addition to attacking the lungs. It is basically a killing weapon. Also stop the bullshit about “herd immunity” there is no herd immunity for this thing. Once you are exposed to it, you can still catch it again and die from it. YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE. In fact there is evidence that you are actually more likely to die from it when reinfected because of the irreparable damage done by it the first time.
Even if you only have a moderate case of this virus, the damage done by it is permanent, and will effect your health from that point on.
In short, this is some nasty shit, and even with all the extraordinary measures being taken worldwide to stem the tide of damage, hundreds of thousands will die, and millions will have their health permanently impacted. This puts the damage done by this thing on the scale of a major war. And that is WITH all the lock downs. Without them this could be 100 times worse.
So suck it up and stop whining and complaining. You do not have the right to be a danger to others. Your rights end where you begin to be a danger to others.
I know its hard.. but try to be a responsible human being. And stop with the idiotic conspiracy theories.

How do you intend to avoid infection, especially since you’ll keep on getting it for the rest of your life and will suffer permanent lung damage each time?

What do you recommend for the future?

Move out of the densely populated urban centers, grow your own food, work hard outdoors, sleep deeply, drink plenty of untreated water, laugh frequently, spend time with the ones you love and admire, do something that brings you meaning, etc, etc.

Everyone dies. The common denominator between those who fear this and those who do not is that understanding. Once you realize that death could come for you at any moment from any cause no matter what kinds of precautions you take, suddenly life becomes at once far more vibrant and valuable and at the same time you can face the inevitability without any fear. It’s just another leg of your journey. And if you’ve been doing all those other things I mentioned at the top, then you haven’t missed out on anything and can say, this was a life worth living.

If THEY (the CDC, for example) had been proactive, say, at the end of January when it became clear that there was a problem, we may have avoided all of this, but since they waited six weeks and were forced, instead, to react, quite poorly and with a lack of proper tools (because they neglected to do their FUCKING JOBS and actually PREPARE), this was the only hope for them to save some face AND let the economy (already crashing) wipe out (yet again). I don’t think they ever gave a damn about the death rates but were more concerned about exposing our healthcare system for the joke it is (guaranteed to bankrupt you and put you on the street without a cure as soon as you can’t afford to pay; they don’t triage patients, they triage wallets), so that they can continue to kick us when we’re down.

That is to say, like their lackluster response on the front end that “forced” this . . . the lockdown IS a mistake but it’s a little late, don’t you think?

Remember when they changed the name from The Department of War to The Department of Defense? And right about that same time we went from being a defensive nation to one that acted in an aggressive, imperialistic fashion that was almost entirely offensive in nature.

The budgets of groups like the CDC, WHO, NIH, etc, etc. demonstrate that they are not without resources to accomplish a goal like responding to a viral outbreak. Likewise their highly credentialed staffs who are all focused on a singular and extremely specific task- the prevention and treatment of diseases. And yet they behave in a manner that appears to someone like myself to do the exact opposite.

Perhaps the purpose of these organizations was never to prevent an outbreak of pathogens, but to maximize their spread as a matter of course in order to further justify their existence and to enlarge both their budgets as well as their power.

If you wanted to limit the spread of virus outbreaks around the globe, the solution is both inexpensive and quite obvious. First, you limit the movement of vectors. Human viruses exist only in human hosts. All viral outbreaks begin with a single person and spread throughout a community based on factors such as general health, age and standards of hygiene. Once identified those affected and everyone they have come into contact with could be easily quarantined for a period sufficient for the virus to either run it’s course or immunize the remainder of the immediate population. If we had a system that put in place mandatory quarantines for all global travelers, it would be impossible for any single outbreak to spread beyond it’s immediate site and absolutely zero chance of turning into a global pandemic. That isn’t an opinion, it is a fact. If we were to require that every international visitor were to spend a period of time in quarantine to observe that they are not infected before moving on to their final destination it would be inconvenient for them rather than for the entire population of the place they could potentially infect.

Do you imagine that global elites would implement such a simple and effective plan as that in order to eradicate pandemic spreads?

The second and perhaps more draconian action would to simply prohibit cities. The idea of tens of millions of human beings living all together in confined areas the size of Hong Kong or Manhattan is completely insane and serves no other purpose than to maximize economic activity at the expense of human life and health. I have covered the reasons behind this extensively in The Case Against Cities for far more reasons than the obvious and ready transmission of viral epidemics, but it bears repeating. Cities, particularly in the age of electronic communications are an anachronism that serve no purpose other than to create an environment for all of the worst behaviors and practices known to man; poverty, degeneracy, vagrancy, criminality, etc. Since this option will never be considered especially by elites, perhaps walling them in would serve the purpose just as well. Allow jet setting, world wandering, urban cosmopolitans to flit and fly from one city to another, but strictly prohibit them from venturing into the surrounding countryside to spread their diseases created in the petri dish of crowded spaces and poor sanitation. Why should the vast majority of humanity that lives outside of the cities be subjected to the whims of people who not only look down upon and despise them for their simplicity and rural character, but actively seek to impose their will on them every time they create a crisis?

Again, insanity rules the day.

Are you serious? The CDC is a just one of the many Alphabet agencies along with academia and media that are 100% Deep State assets. If you want to know wherein the blame for the pandemic lies look no further.
