The guy is lucky his Glock-o-matic didn’t misfire. The beauty of a revolver is that fact you can firmly press it against someone’s body, pull the trigger, and expect it to go bang every time. Things are even worse if the slide is interfered while wrestling with an attacker and you have a misfeed on your hands.

Theoretically true about the autoloader too. Have you ever been in a close up gunfight. If you can grab a slide you can grab a cylinder. What you’re saying is crazy. The best gun in a gunfight is the one you have with you at the time. Next is the one you have confidence in.
There is a steel device you can mount on the M1913 rail on the bottom dustcover of a semi auto. It functions like a brush bar on the front of a truck. It has a hole in front of the bore and allows the pistol to be pushed up against something without causing the slide to move out of battery. Developed by retired Navy Seal Harry Humphries.
Don’t forget the old trick where you get the web of your hand between the hammer and slide. Won’t help with all the new striker fire stuff of course.

This little trick saved my life when, once upon a time, I was attempting to effect an arrest on a certain bad guy person of color and we went to the pavement in a wrestling match. I suddenly ended up looking down the barrel of a .38 which was about 2 inches center between both of my eyes. As I was desperately clinching the cylinder with all my might with both hands, the bad guy was squeezing the trigger with all his might. When, after about two minutes, and loosing my strength and about to give up, my partner suddenly appeared and deeply inserted the barrel his .38 into the right eye socket of the bad guy and cocked the hammer ………….. end of story.
.22, you are right about the Glock-o-matic, and the same holds true for other semi-auto pistolas. Unfortunately as much as I love my 1911’s, they also will fail to fire under the same circumstances … and especially true if the bad guy has learned the trick of jabbing the palm of his hand against the front of the slide/muzzle. The Springfield XDs .45 ACP, however, is a bit difficult to jam in these manners, which is why I carry it or my favorite, the S&W 2 1/2 inch Model 66 .357

APD reports they have arrested 31-year-old Stephen Ray Baca in connection to the shooting. Baca is being booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on a charge of aggravated battery. APD reports the shooting is an active investigation. It remains unclear if Baca was a part of the armed militia group.
