The first ever CIA backed coup took place in Thailand in 1948, soon after the spy agency was launched on the foundations of the wartime Office of Strategic Services. The American ambassador in Bangkok in 1948 was ‘Wild Bill’ Donovan, previously head of the OSS during the war. The CIA acquired control of the Golden Triangle opium/heroin trade which they kept until Burmese warlords, aided by the Thai military, edged them out in the 1990s which in turn created a need for the CIA to take over the Afghan drug trade which continues to this day. The guesstimated gross take on the Afghanistan heroin trade is $1 Billion per year. The CIA has to share these profits with many cohorts, to be sure. Still, the US Army ( taxpayers) covers security and the Air Force, distribution worldwide.

The taxpayers pay M.E. security for the oil cartels. Why not the drug cartels too? Besides, all those coffins coming back through Dover AFB provided the perfect cover for smuggling in the processed heroin for the American/Canadian markets.
Most people do not know that Thailand was part of the Axis powers. They backed the wrong horses in WWII and paid the price. The Golden Triangle was established to protect the southern contingent of Chiang Kai Shek’s military fighting Mao’s army that got detached from and couldn’t regroup with the Nationalist Chinese forces that fled to the island of Formosa. These abandoned Nationalist Chinese forces were put in place as a check to both Thailand and China and have remained to this day as an autonomous region within Thailand. These guys were the major source of heroin during the 1960s – 70s smuggled in by CIA contractors and distributed to niggers in inner cities by the Italian and Jewish mafias, with proceeds going to buy US military hardware shipped back to Golden Triangle via same contractors. These actions were taken before the US adopted its pure fiat money system in 1971 as before fractional reserve requirements and public disclosure prevented direct funding of what CIA considered essential operations. After unlimited fiat money printing under Reagan .gov didn’t give a shit anymore and the billions just piled up under undifferentiated miscellaneous expenses.
