What Biden's First 100 Days Might Look Like

The Biden-Harris administration will confront “a pandemic, an economic crisis, calls for racial justice and climate change. The team being assembled will meet these challenges on Day One.”

So declares the transition team of Joe Biden, to echo what he’s defined as the lead items on his presidential agenda. And if this is his agenda, then how our presumed 46th president will proceed suggests itself.

The COVID-19 pandemic is now close to its apex, with a million new cases and a death toll in excess of 10,000 each week. We appear to be near the crest of the “second wave.”

Biden’s emphasis, as he has signaled, will be on slowing down the spread of the virus by universal masking and locking up and shutting down sectors of the American economy.

Yet, even as the worst of the pandemic appears directly ahead in December and January, the last six weeks of Donald Trump’s presidency, the light at the end of the tunnel may be sighted within Biden’s first 100 days.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which have proven 90-95% effective against the virus, begin to come on line this month. By the end of Biden’s first 100 days, May 1, the beneficial effect of scores of millions of vaccinations should be visible to all, and the pandemic should be seen as irretrievably receding.

At least, that is the hope and expectation. And the media would naturally attribute the new dawn not to the triumph of Trump’s Operation Warp Speed but to the new president.

Biden’s response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will almost surely be along the lines of what Congress is now debating, contingent upon whether Mitch McConnell is prepared to accept what comes over from the House.

A trillion-dollar package seems baked in the cake, as the country would not long tolerate congressional inaction if the pandemic were still raging through the population as it is today.

As for racial inequality, the pandemic has exposed, deepened and widened it. The surge in shootings and killings in major cities during the pandemic is hitting the Black communities hardest.

The decline in test scores at schools where kids have been kept away from formal classes since March is most pronounced among minorities. Black and Hispanic workers in service industries are a disproportionate share of the victims of the pandemic.

If half a century of social progress after the civil rights revolution of the ’60s and eight years of the first Black president have failed to reduce racial disparities in income, wealth, employment and incarcerations, does anyone believe Joe Biden has the solution?

As for climate change, John Kerry, the new climate czar, will begin his tenure after a year of the deepest reductions in carbon emissions in recorded history.

By Dec. 31, U.S. carbon emissions will have fallen 9% from the end of 2019. Emissions from cars and aircraft fell 4% in 2020, from power 2.8%, and from industry .6%. On the flip side, forest fires reduced the 9% cut in carbon emissions by fully one-third.

Yet, it is in foreign policy where the traps appear.

The drawdown in U.S. troops in Afghanistan, to 2,500 by Jan. 15, will leave us with the smallest contingent since the U.S. plunged into that country to remake it more in our image in 2001.

And the troop drawdown comes at a time when the Taliban control the largest swath of Afghan territory since being overthrow 19 years ago. The possibility of a collapse in Kabul, chaos ensuing and the country disintegrating early in a Biden presidency cannot be ruled out.

Would Biden be willing to preside over an American defeat similar to that in Vietnam in 1975?

But the truly formidable challenge for a President Biden will be China, which is not the China of 2016 that Vice President Biden recalls.

While the U.S. refuses to recognize China’s claims to disputed islets in the East and the South China Seas and has committed itself to defend the Japanese and Philippine claims, Beijing has not backed away from its claims and, indeed, has grown increasingly bellicose in making them.

The U.S. has also been thickening ties to Taiwan.

Yet, what many Americans see as a democratic island of 25 million whose defense is a moral obligation and strategic necessity, China sees as a breakaway province, and signals in every way that it would fight a war rather than let Taiwan go.

These issues are likely to be decided in this decade. And it is hard to see how the U.S., 7,000 miles away, with a slowly shrinking share of the world’s economic and military power, would prevail indefinitely over a China that has the advantages of proximity and population, and whose power is steadily rising in relative terms to that of the United States.

There may be a silver lining in some very dark clouds. If Trump violates his oath of office and fails to use his executive power to stop the theft of the presidency and the naked old man pulling his dog’s tail (the scene is too ghastly to even process) actually occupies the White House, there is a more than even chance that total chaos will rapidly ensue, on several fronts. The collapse of the Kabul government (the “president” of Afghanistan is often referred to as the mayor of Kabul, since he controls little beyond the city) on Joe’s watch would be a rather cold douche, as the French say. Actually, I doubt that the Taliban will bother to take the city by storm any time soon. They will sit around their camp fires giggling as Biden is forced to send tens of thousands of U.S. troops back into that dirty shithole. Red state America, which supplies most of those soldiers, will not be amused. We can count on Iran to humiliate Biden by launching some form of attack to which he will be forced to respond; the American people will see a Three Stooges skit as the clowns around Biden dissolve into a Chinese fire drill. Ah! China! Well, the Chinese are no fools and they have absolutely no sentimental bones in their bodies. They KNOW Biden is a corrupt non-entity and will not wait long to cash in their chips. I would not invest in Taiwan real estate just right now….
It is in finance that Biden is likely to run smack into a brick wall. Our government’s finances are already in a ridiculous state and Biden and Company are pledged to run up the tab into the clouds. An already fragile and swaying world economy may not take it. Depression II might teach some of the Wokesters a thing or two about reality.
If Biden or Harris attempt to actually implement some of their crazier policies beyond Manhattan and the Beltway, the pot is going to boil over. As gutless as most Red state Republican politicians are, they know there are lines they simply can’t cross. Nobody is going to turn in their rifles or magazines. That is a fact. If the Feds attempt to send bands of armed thugs into the hinterland to seize them, they are likely to find local sheriffs and other officials politely telling them to go home. If they foolishly insist on trying to carry out unconstitutional “laws”, they may find themselves shadowed by deputies and citizen groups. This will inevitably lead to confrontations and if blood is spilled it is all over. Federal law enforcement can’t operate without the support of a majority of the population. The agents know that and they have no more desire to be pariahs in the places where they live than anybody else. They may simply engage in what the Russians call an “Italian strike”. Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full! Then they will go back to reading the newspaper and eating donuts. Those few stupid enough to do otherwise may have a short shelf life.
The key reason why Biden will fall flat on his false teeth hard enough to force his plugs to pop out is that the Democratic Party is run by lunatics, affirmative actions cases, crooked lawyers, and various aggrieved mutant forms of life. Each and every one is an incompetent buffoon without exception. If they had any common sense or capacity to confront real life they would not be Democrats. Our government will soon suffer in comparison to that of Haiti. It will be painful but amusing to observe.
At some point enough will be enough. The Covid nonsense may be a blessing in disguise as anger over this faux “pandemic” is finally rousing the average Boobus Americanus. Slowly but surely, our bovine fellow citizens are starting to connect the dots.
This may well result in the end of the Republican party; I dearly hope so. What we need is not a traditional political party but rather a movement that will defend out culture, our children, our jobs, our religion, our history and traditions. We need to be able to call hundreds of thousands out in the streets to confront the Leftists, we need to be able to threaten weak and cowardly politicians – if not with violence, at least with extreme discomfort. We need to spit in the faces of the aliens who have slithered into positions of power in the country. And as a last resort, such a movement would serve as the foundation to build a self-defense force for our people.
I have mentioned the Spanish Civil war several times in my notes because I believe our situation is similar to that of Spain in 1935, right before civil war broke out. In northern Spain the Carlist movement provided just such a foundation for a military force. The specifics of the Carlist program are of little interest to Americans, but their civic movement should be. When the war broke out and the Nationalist forces were hard-pressed by the Republicans (Communists in all but name, at least by the end of the war), the Carlists were able to instantly convert their civic movement into a formidable, armed force. Taking their rifles from their hiding places , the Carlists, devout Catholics, marched to the sound of the guns. They helped turn the tide.
Perhaps it will not come to that here, but if Biden and Harris do not wake up from their dream world, they may bring this hell down on us all.

You refer to the Requetés, who with Franco’s Moroccans were the most feared of the National Movement’s forces for good reason: they (the Requetés were crusaders and their rising wasn’t spontaneous; they’d prepared for years. Unless and until John/Jane Q Public recognize that their way of life, their values, their culture and traditions are at stake in the present situation, they are unlikely to rise up in an organized and determined movement. If they don’t form such a movement, they are destined to defeat.

So it’s masks outside for everybody until the virus is gone. After that, you can keep wearing a mask if you want to do any robbing, car-jacking or murdering. Got it.

Come on Pat, quit spreading propaganda man!!! The death toll IS NOT 10,000 people a week!!! Only 6% of those actually died from the Chinese Cold. That makes the number 600. A far cry from 10,000. I expected much different from you, Pat. Really disappointed in you for parroting the Liberal Biased Mainstream News Media line. SMH.
