A Hill To Die On

Guest Post by L.E. Thissell (TS)

I will die on this hill. - FORGE DOJO: KYOKUSHIN-KAN

“Never let a crisis go to waste.” Saul Alinsky

“Crises reveal character. When we are put to the test the hidden resources of our character are revealed exactly.” Oswald Chambers

Surprisingly (even a bit disturbingly) I find myself in agreement with Alinsky. It is a profound and effective piece of advice. These two comments share a similar element; crisis can be – should be – a catalyst for change. That, however, is as far as the commonality goes.

There is some dispute who first gave voice to the concept about not wasting a crisis. Mark Twain, Winston Churchill and several others have been credited with at least similar quotes. Alinsky, however, was the first, as near as I can find, to apply it as a tactic to destroy rather than to improve. Of course, his goal was to destroy in order to ultimately reach what he believed was an improvement, whether ill-advised/impractical or not.

Chambers is much more in keeping with the positive view. As his quote shows, testing reveals our character. That is invaluable if we are to make decisions consistent with who and what we are. Our lives are a testament to the choices we make. We are a product of what we do or don’t do. If you are ignorant of why you make the choices that you do, chances are many of those decisions will be faulty, when push comes to shove. Perhaps even, in these exponentially imploding times, fatal.

There are three main influences on how and why we make specific decisions; the innate, the cultural and the environmental.

First, we all have a certain combination of natural-born talents and tendencies, strengths and weaknesses – despite where we are born or to what ethnic group – that makes each and every one of us a unique me. The influence of this inherent core make-up is incredibly strong, it is the stuff of our primal urges and reactions. To self-analyze – indeed, often to even accurately recognize – this basic make-up is often not an easy task. To try and change or control it in any meaningful way… well, that can present a real struggle.

For one example out of thousands – try as a person might to cross, bend, blend or suspend their gender, the DNA will always and forever be their actual make up. That is true for every aspect of our incredibly complex design.

But the key is not to change these attributes but to first recognize them and then learn how to apply them, how to channel them.

Just to give an idea of what I mean – consider someone who is impulsive by nature. This type has several things going on. They are able to make quick decisions, tend to cut through the BS and don’t over-think their situation. They generally are bold and have a tendency to move by instinct. On the down side they are prone to an unhealthy instant self-gratification, tend to ignore negative consequences and can easily be rash to the point of foolhardiness.

That is a very simplistic view of just one aspect out of thousands, but you get the picture. Self-assessment is not a quick nor an easy task. But the payoff is huge.

Second, the culture we are raised in – the foundational existence around us of the larger social group we belong to – has a profound impact on our behaviors and beliefs. We are immersed in it from before birth. Everything we hear and experience from the day we come squalling from the womb into the light only strengthens that influence. It is what shapes our natural proclivities into a direction that is consider ‘normal’ by the world at large. By and large, that would be the civilization we are a small part of. At this point in time, global. Practically everyone on the face of this earth can inter-act fairly easily because we are all a part of a cultural human whole. That doesn’t necessarily mean that we want to, only that we are capable of it.

Tribes, gathered ethnic groups and regional affiliations (countries, geographical regions, etc.) are sub-cultural components of that over-arching global culture. Each has a more immediate impact on what is considered normal within that sub-set, an even stronger and more defined influence than the basic human culture.

And third is the specific personal environment we exist within, and the life we have experienced. That is what hones us to a razor’s edge of beliefs and reactions. That final touch of reality’s strop is what puts the final edge on the who and what we are, and has a tremendous influence on how we view ourselves and the world around us.

Put all of these ingredients together and that is the stuff from where our decisions arrive. As I said, figuring it out is not a quick nor an easy task.

We, as humans, are the only beings on the face of this planet with the ability to parse out the why of what we do. No other creature, as well-trained as they might be, are capable of that kind of self-introspection. Though difficult, we can recognize the influences of each of those three components of our make-up. If you are unwilling to do so then your decisions, by definition, will always be suspect. For the vast majority of decisions we make, that’s really not an issue. Good choices, bad choices; life goes on and there usually aren’t all that many ramifications outside of our general daily goings on.

However, we are now confronted with decisions that have more and more of an impact on our lives. Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask. Vaccinate or not. These are the most immediate concerns for the moment. But it’s a slippery slope, and every decision strengthens the next, regardless of which direction that takes us. The further down the slope, the harder it is to stop, let alone backtrack. It’s far preferable to be on a slope we want to be on.

And now, we can see, looming on the horizon, the distinct possibility of having to choose to preserve life by being herded into a FEMA camp and hope that it’s temporary, to hunker down in place or head for the hills. Fight it out, in whatever set of circumstances that would lead us to that, or submit. For each of these there is a why, and a when. And these are far from a complete list of what we are facing.

What hill will we choose to make that final stand? What hill will I choose?

For me it’s more about standing unwaveringly upon the hill of my principles than where the final physical confrontation actually happens. Allow me to explain my own set of circumstances and reasons for my choices.

As I have written before, I live in a very secluded place, one that is generally about as safe from any type of ‘zombie apocalypse’ that might show up. I also am retired from having to work for anyone else, and have a small place that is as self-sustaining as it needs to be, all things considered. This plays an important part on why I can choose what I choose. My neighbors are like-minded and trustworthy, and this valley as a whole is close-knit. Like I said, we are secluded. It’s about 140 miles to any place with a larger population, in any direction.

Natural proclivity, this sub-culture I was raised in and my life’s experiences have all brought me to this place. Looking back, I could’ve easily made different choices, and nearly did so several times. But I ended up making those decisions that eventually brought me here because of who and what I was, what seemed right at the time, for whatever reason. And each one took me further along the path that finally dropped me here.

I have chosen to not wear a mask, because of the obvious reasons that practically everybody here on the Platform will understand. It’s an intentional farce based on a lie fostered by (at least on the lower levels – I can see the fingerprints of those far deeper in the shadows in all of this) incompetent corrupt liars. That is evident. As such I refuse to enable or tacitly approve of such a sordid scheme. This is a result of who and what I am, and what I know.

Because of my life and where I live, not wearing the didy is at worst a minor inconvenience. The biggest loss, the heaviest burden has been in the more social aspects; I am missing out on some things I truly love with some people I really care about. But I will not surrender my principles for momentary gratification.

This, however, is not the hill to die on.

What happens if I have severe trauma or affliction and need to go to the hospital? I’m not about to refuse and live in agony or die over a mask. What if I need to wear one in order to save someone else’s life? It would take extraordinary circumstances, but if I am willing to wear one for the proper reasons, it’s not the hill to die on. Despite the implications and recognition of where this is taking us, I consider it more of a forward defensive perimeter, not the place to refuse to budge.

There are many such distinctions that need to be assessed, by every one of us. No one – and certainly not I – is able to see with complete certainty what comes next. Is it the vaccine and all of the attendant mandates or service refusals? Or civil chaos brought about, one way or another, by however the election fiasco finally plays out? Or a complete economic collapse? A combination of those, or something else completely unexpected?

If vaccine, that is a hill to die on. I won’t, and I never will, accept any injection or pill or tonic for that. I will lose everything I have, up to the point of death, before I ever agree to it. I am willing to kill and die for that principle.

As far as a FEMA camp or rehab facility for us ‘ungovernables’ goes, if you choose that step back, then the who you believe you are will die on that hill, the internal self-view. The body will simply drift toward it’s own death, later on. I personally will be dead before I ever allow that to be done to me.

We’ve got some serious shit heading our way. I doubt if anyone who spends any time here on the Platform would argue that. There’s an obvious variance in what people believe about the details, timing or ultimate conclusion, but everybody knows the shitola-show is about to splatter far and wide. We ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

In these uncertain times, one salient point stands out; life will never again be as it was. All of our experiences, hopes, dreams and fears cannot prepare us for the reality of what lies ahead. There is always something unexpected, something that is impossible to prepare for with certainty because, by definition, we never saw it coming. What that leaves is the imperative need to stand upon solid fundamental principles, both corporate and individual.

Nowadays, more than ever in our lifetimes at least, we face the distinct necessity of choosing what hill – unless we would have it chosen for us – we will die on. For some that will seem more figurative, at least for now; for others it will be – or maybe already is – a literal reality. Be that as it may, in the immortal words of Jim Morrison, none of us get out of here alive. We would do well to take that to heart.

A great many. They will continue to boil the frog. A great many hills to die on have already occurred, and we did little or nothing as a society. What suggests that will change?

I personally have been trying to tell everyone I meet or know, for almost 40 years. I started resisting when silver was 3 dollars. ATT blocks me from calling people. They also block people from calling me. I live in the country, I dont have a cell phone. I eat organic and grow much food. I am the real resistance!

Greetings, old friend! All I can do is speak for myself. My personal lines(as if anyone gives a shit) are 1. no vaccine, ever. 2. I will never give up my legally owned means of self defense. And 3. I’m too fuckin’ old to remember but I’m sure there must be something else! My best to all here. Keep yer powder dry, I’m afraid we just might need it.

Well, like you I am a bit long in the tooth.I would say left alone (seems will not be a option)might have 2-3 decades left. That said,I have no wife or kids and thus in one of those”Nothing to lose/Everything to gain”points of life.

Lines to die over,camps/loss of bill of rights/threats to mine or others well being/actually,have a pretty long list of hills, feel unfortunately one of those hills is heading my way and soon.

I have had despite a lot of really rough patches a pretty damn good life,am willing to fight on hills so my friends kids and future generations have a shot at a pretty good life.

I will admit also am a bit angry and just want to take some fucks with me,am channeling that anger energy though to get tasks done ect.,one day of just being real angry without any other thoughts enough!

You, O comrades and brothers, lords and nobles, soldiers and commanders—great and small. You yourselves are witnesses and observers of that great goodness God has given us in this life… But if the sword, if wounds, or if the darkness of death comes to us, we accept it sweetly for Christ and for the godliness of our homeland.

It is better to die in battle than to live in shame. Better it is for us to accept death from the sword in battle than to offer our shoulders to the enemy. We have lived a long time for the world; in the end we seek to accept the martyr’s struggle and to live forever in heaven.

That’s true for some. Others have said they don’t have kids so they don’t care about the future. By soon, I think before summer hits.

Great post TS.

I am doing everything I can to ensure once given no choice (or sooner) – I die on my feet as a Free Child of the Living God…and not a submissive serf soon to become a slave or even deceived and eternally dammed by taking the mark of the beast.

For what?

A few more days, weeks, months, years of serfdom that will be quickly followed by slavery and then culling/death at the hands of the Luciferians and their ORCs and Flying Monkeys! (Some of who have No Names here).

My situation is similar to yours by my long determined intention. Many in my family and some friends are now admitting I have been prophetic for well over a decade about where we find ourselves today as a collapsing empire, and a soft, propagandized, brainwashed, and dumbed down tattered Republic.

Some are no longer snickering about my defiant stances, my non masking wearing, obvious prepping, armed to the teeth gun culture guy lifestyle, and hardworking rural self-sufficient lifestyle.

I am the only one in my family who lives the above…and most in this country who depend on others for everything…will end up paying them everything.

I have no desire for anyone eles’s hill…I have charged a few hills in my miss spent yout.

Now…I’m more than ready to die defending my hill.

My prayer for what is coming is for an honorable stand…and if it be…an honorable death.

Great post TS.

Couldn’t agree more. Like many here I’m the odd ball by having biblical principles that I have never felt I needed to compromise on, nor would I. It was drilled into me early that my word was my bond and integrity was worth gold. Neither of these could be destroyed by another, only I could destroy them.

With that said, this canuk’s knees bend for only one person in whom I trust implicitly, Christ. Like the ant, we work hard and prepare for the winter ahead and will help where we can. But try to rob us or enslave us… a world of hurt will ensue.

Amen, brother.

We only have one, precious life to live. What we do with it us up to us. Live with integrity, fight with honor, die with dignity intact not having compromised with evil. Not much more we can do than that.

We stand on the side that is right, and true, and Good. It isn’t about Trump, or political parties, or flags, those are immaterial and fleeting. It is about the God-given right of humans to do with their lives as they see fit, free to pursue life, liberty and happiness.

I love this song. These are dark times, and it helps me find strength.

That’s interesting. Rush Limbaugh is controlled opposition. His job has always been to keep conservatives on the reservation. Either Twitter isn’t aware of that or, more likely, they are just getting rid of him now that he has served his purpose and they have the Right on the run. As I said in a recent comment on another post, the fact that they are getting rid of the Judas goat Trump means they don’t care about to trying to deceive the Right anymore. They are just going to brazenly rout the Right without any pretense of fairness or legality. The Judas goats and the controlled opposition are the first to go.

TS – Great to see you put fingers to keyboard and enlighten us with your prose. Many years ago, I was encouraged to write down my 10 core principals. It took me about 2 weeks to reach the final draft with the correct order and verbiage. It was a good exercise for me to put into words what makes me who I am and I am glad I did it.

I look at them several times a year and confirm that they are still valid. I believe that when the time comes for me to choose the hill, I will fall back on those 10 beliefs to help me make my choice.

For me, there will be no vaccination taken voluntarily. Obviously, if I fall unconscious and end up in the hospital, I will not have say in the matter. FEMA camps are also a non-starter. I would rather die in the woods and be consumed by animals as to go to one of their “re-education” camps. I will fight to the death to stay out of the boxcars.

I count on the good Lord to continue watching over me until the day that I see him face to face.

James – Sorry to hear about your mum. My wife’s mother had a bad case, but was healthy as a horse and lived to 94. My wife had to put her in a nursing home as she started wandering around at night and managed to get outside a time or two. She would go see her every day at least once and sometimes twice or more. Many times, she would come home crying because her mother did not know who she was or was hallucinating about taking care of the baby, cooking for all these people, etc.

I saw so many in that home that were on feeding tubes, others who never had any visitors and it broke my heart. I decided then and there that I did not want to ever be placed in one of those institutions.

Now, it is even worse as they will not let anyone in to visit and there is very little human contact. Ordo wrote a piece about his mom who is in a home. He is to be commended as he visits her daily through the window, but is not allowed to come in to hug her or talk face to face. Another contributor who works in one wrote about how the older people are being neglected to death.

I admire you for taking care of your mum. It is a difficult task and requires you to become the parent of your parent. I kept telling my wife she was the parent now, but she could not accept it. Like you, I just want them to leave me be and let me live out the rest of my life taking care of my property, loving my family and visiting with grandkids and their children.

Good luck to you my friend. Keep your powder dry and your location hidden.

I am still pushing hard on the core issue; the testing. I got several ‘duck n dodge’ answers on my initial phone discussion with the county health admin. earlier in the week, which is a nice way of saying he lied to me…

Been in that state of mind myself. It’s horrible. Many times I told God I would rather die of cancer than Alzheimers. Be careful what you pray for. Just sayin..lol! I’m 5 years out but everyone I know that has had cancer it always came back 10 years or so later.

Speaking of coyotes a pair were going crazy tonight barking, yipping and howling behind the horse and goat barns during my night checks.
I got a 50 yard pot shot at eyes on the manure pile with the M4 but should’ve taken the extra 2 minutes to grab the scoped scout rifle.
Apparently I missed but scared the crap out of the horses.

Her original name was Sparkle. But I have never, in all of my years being around dogs, seen one so dedicated to finding, eating and rolling in the nastiest of stuff. Even in winter, for crying out loud. She even had to have 3 tries with a skunk before she gave that up. And then I think it was more about the baths/remedies than it was the actual spray.
She’s very intelligent and an outstanding cow dog, but she has most definitely earned her name.

I think that that you laid that out very well. You stated your premise, you gave examples, you made your point. And because you posted it where people are of a similar level of intelligence as well as being on the same page in terms of outlook I don’t think you will find much disagreement.

The problem is with the other 97%

We are no longer in the midst of a political or ideological struggle, we are in the midst of a mass movement. Who or what kicked it off is of minor importance because while they may think they control it due to their full spectrum dominance, this beast has no master. This is a human stampede, a civilizational lemming jump- and once the bloodletting starts? All the wealth and titles in the world will offer no protection from what is coming.

Like the Durants observed, History appears like a bloody river clogged with the bodies of tyrants and innocents alike, but it is lived on it’s banks, far above the high water mark where people tend their gardens, sing lullabies to their children, and make love in the dark.

I trust that you have selected your hill wisely, I pray that I have done the same, but in the words of another American sage, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

See you on the other side.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

My father gave me a piece of sound advice for these times. He was born and raised in Germany in a rural peasant family in 1903. He emigrated to the US in 1925. He had a large family in Germany and we still keep in touch.

What he told me is that in times of serious trouble, such as his family went through with the Nazi years, the best thing to do is keep your head down and your mouth shut. Those were the people and families that made it through without too much trouble.

I know some people want to let everyone know just what they think. But consider what repercussions that might have down the road. For myself, I will keep my head down and my mouth shut during these days, for the safety of myself and my family.

If you are white..won’t work. Whites are now on the menu so the Borg is getting ready to send the Orcs out to eliminate the problem children. Being Christian will also be a big plus. Wrap your heads around the fact that we have a bullseye on us. They delight in telling anyone who will listen what horrible things they will do to us. This also includes the children. Many white children were attacked last summer and a couple killed……remember? We fight, leave the country or cuck out and be at their mercy. Harris has stated this a few times already. Look at you children and grandchildren and the decision shouldn’t be too difficult…unless you’re a spineless pussy. I think a lot of people are in shock and can’t imagine something like this happening. Bitch slap yourself into reality and pick up a history book and notice how socialism and communism follow the same program. In Germany it was a political devide unless you were a Jew. Here the white Christian will be the one nailed big time and eradicated as much as possible. We are horribly screwed because of no leadership, discipline , training and financial backing. The first three were big red flags with the DC incident. Their hearts were in the right place but they treated it like a big party with no plan, PR and walked into the .gov ambush. Doesn’t matter about the good intentions. They will be screwed. One guy already lost his job talking about his adventures there on Facebook.

While I entirely agree with the sentiments expressed here, I think I would prefer that all good Americans adopt the IRA rules of engagement (regardless of your views on that organization).
Simply put, an IRA operation was not considered a success unless the goal was accomplished and – this is the crucial point – the IRA itself suffered no casualties.
Of course, in a war or any conflict both sides will take losses but proper prior preparation will indeed prevent piss poor performance. Who knows what is coming in the next month or year? Nobody.
Do not throw away your life or freedom in pointless failures. If you intend to do something to save the country for God’s sake study the problem with the greatest care, take no more than 3-4 people into your confidence (if that many), say nothing to anybody else (and that includes wives, relatives, children and “best friends”), thoroughly clean yourself, your residence, your computers, and telephones of anything related to your work BEFORE you do it. Prepare with meticulous attention to detail. Do not waste your energy on secondary objectives. Strike hard, strike fast. Forget about mercy or moral qualms. Those things will get you killed. Once you cross the Rubicon there is no going back. You can’t be half pregnant or half fighting a war. If arrested, rigidly follow IRA guidelines. Say nothing. Nothing. Not. One. Thing. You are already in deep shit. Stop digging. Nothing you say will help you and it may hurt a comrade or your family. If they did not think you were guilty of something you would not have been arrested. And remember, when you are sitting handcuffed in an interrogation room, there are no “good cops”.
Do not engage in infantile grandstanding. Things have reached a point where the operation itself will say all that is needed to be said. No need to leave evidence lying around or provide it to the enemy.
Study the work of the great IRA leader Michael Collins, the Italian Red Brigades (Commies, but so what), the Latin American guerrillas (who raised hell on a shoestring), and Communist Party cell organizational techniques.

I sincerely hope that none of the above will be needed to carry out peaceful protests against the gang of traitors who will take power on 20 January. Barring a miracle, they will, and they will go hog wild. If it comes back on them, they will have only themselves to blame.

Remain calm, prepare, take precautions, and, most important, figure out who you can trust. Trust will be in short supply in coming years.

SS, excellent advice from one who has been there!

Picked up the IRA handbook a few years ago.

Your advice on compartmentalization…alone or with very few others is spot on.

Since I am from the Vietnam era I was thinking about picking up some black pajamas and flip-flops as they seemed to work back then…

Good ballads for revolutionaries: “By The Rising of the Moon”. Another is “Me Little Armalite”.

Remember, the game can be played in all three dimensions, not just on the ground.

War is when your government tells you who the enemy is. Revolution is when you figure it out yourself.

While I don’t plan on actually doing any guerilla tactic warfare, I can give one piece of specific advice for anyone who is considering it. Acquire drones. Now. Lots and lots of cheap drones. Figure out ahead of time how to turn them into ‘sticky-bomb’ type weapons for, for example, disabling tracked vehicles in strategic areas. Or any other creative use along the same lines. I won’t go into any deeper detail.
Oh, yeah; just the appearance of a threat will often be more effective than an actual threat. In WWII, resistance fighters used upside-down pie plates roughly the same size and color of anti-tank mines. They were scattered along a restricted travel area, causing the tanks to pause while the situation was being looked at. Making them ripe for whatever unconventional attack was released.
Think WAY outside the box.
Just sayin’.
