This popped up bottom of my duck-go-go search page after finding 3 Qanon and 2 conservative sites BLOCKED.
Time to dump Firefox, will try Dissenter, a Free-speech browser.
Firefox was (is?) a much better browser than Internet Explorer, but when they tossed the ceo over the gay issue, I left. Use Brave now, along with DDG for search. I tried to ditch Windows, but it was a bridge too far for my limited tech savvy. I gave in to convenience and still use W7.
The media monopolies need to be broken up. I have no “social media” accounts save WhatsApp, a super-convenient tool for keeping in touch with friends all over the globe and for photos. I don’t belong to any of its groups, however. Meanwhile, the arrogance of those people is astonishing. Censoring the president! I don’t envy y’all having to fight those people, but I see fewer and fewer possibilities that a fight can be avoided. Those hypocrtical shits, including Pelosi & Co., desperately need a paid-up ticket on the kick-ass express forthwith!
I will have to ditch Firefox then. I used DDG for awhile but not sure about ((their)) integrity, switched to Swisscows as a search engine — but really not sure about them either. A friend told me about “Libre office” which is supposed to be software that replaces MS Office apps like Word, Excel, etc. but haven’t tried it myself — I still need to switch to a better e-mail service than gmail. I’ve heard about proton mail but don’t know much about that one — do you have any suggestions?
I have Libre Office and use the word processor often. It’s not quite as convenient as Word, but it works well. Spreadsheet is also okay. Don’t use other features, but it has them.
I’ve had the gmail accounts (two) for many years and changing to another would be very inconvenient. I don’t worry about security because unless the spies are interested in my grandchildren’s (and mine to a certain extent) antics, I don’t have much on offer. Unless you’re a tech whiz, my suspicion is that no email service is or can be made “secure”.

Yes, FM. My hope is being shaken here in my Toronto suburb. I saw one more ‘stop the lockdowns’ lawn sign this week, but on a neighbourhood walk this week I crossed paths on the sidewalk with an elderly woman in -5 celcius weather who covered her mouth with her mittens as she came near me. I laughed and said ‘I’m not sick and neither are you. Don’t worry about it’ and she responded with ‘I don’t want to make you sick’. The fear caused by government and the media is hurting so many people.

Apple has banned Parler as has the Google app store. Gab is upgrading to hopefully accommodate Trump’s accounts.

Some people have actually forgotten how to do anything they used to do just 2 years ago. Way too much electronic “convenience” for these folks. But I will admit that when folks create an app, it does appear nicer and easier to read (generally) on your phone, etc. than it does going to the website.

Twitter isn’t just some silly messaging service for teenagers. It’s how Trump has been bypassing the bias (and foreign controlled) mainstream media for the past 5 years. Cutting off his Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts is censoring the President 100% from directly speaking to the public without going through the corporate media filter. It’s also what many elected representatives, public officials, and foreign leaders use to communicate with the general public. Just because you’re an old fart who is not on social media doesn’t mean this is trivial. Especially because all these social media companies are controlled by China. Effectively, China was just able to interfere with the US President speaking with the American people. This is a major national security issue.
Also, you don’t have to be a West Point grad to know how important communications and quality intel is during war. This is basic warfare knowledge any layman could find out on their own.

I have a very well curated Twitter account.
I run an online business which affords me great latitude and time to peruse the internet.
I usually have more than 30 tabs open on my PC and after completing a task or 2 I’ll come over here to TBP or Twitter.
I also take a walk outside for fresh air multiple times per day. When doing so I bring up either FB ( due to a notification about a family member) or Twitter.
I follow over 2500 on Twitter. The mix is probably around 200 or so people in my industry with the remainder mostly right leaning but with maybe 500 or so being lefties or people who at one time seemed to have common sense.
So I was reading HSF’s comment on TS’s post then decided to take a walk outside. Opened Twitter-and what did I see-
