Why is the Biden Administration Pushing Ukraine to Attack Russia?

Guest Post by Ron Paul

On March 24th, Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky signed what was essentially a declaration of war on Russia. In the document, titled Presidential Decree No. 117/2021, the US-backed Ukrainian leader declared that it is the official policy of Ukraine to take back Crimea from Russia.

The declaration that Ukraine would take back Crimea from Russia also followed, and was perhaps instigated by, President Biden’s inflammatory and foolish statement that “Crimea is Ukraine.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was a chief architect of the US-backed coup against Ukraine in 2014, continued egging on the Ukrainians, promising full US support for the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine. Many Americans wonder why they are not even half as concerned about the territorial integrity of the United States!

Not to be outdone, at the beginning of this month US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin – who previously served on the board of missile-maker Raytheon – called his counterpart in Ukraine and promised “unwavering US support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.” As the US considers Crimea to be Ukrainian territory, this is clearly a clear green light for Kiev to take military action.

Washington is also sending in weapons. Some 300 tons of new weapons have arrived in the past weeks and more is on the way.

As could be expected, Moscow has responded to Zelensky’s decree and to the increasingly bellicose rhetoric in Kiev and Washington by re-positioning troops and other military assets closer to its border with Ukraine. Does anyone doubt that if the US were in the same situation – for example, if China installed a hostile and aggressive government in Mexico – the Pentagon might move troops in a similar manner?

But according to the media branch of the US military-industrial-Congressional-media complex, Russian troop movements are not a response to clear threats from a neighbor, but instead are just more “Russian aggression.”

The unhinged US “experts” behind the 2014 coup against the elected Ukrainian president are back in power and they are determined to finish the job – even if it means World War III! The explicit US backing of Ukraine’s military ambitions in the region are a blank check to Kiev.

But it is a check that Kiev would be wise to avoid cashing. Back in 1956 the US government pumped endless propaganda into Hungary promising military backing for an uprising against its Soviet occupiers. When the Hungarians, believing Washington’s lies, did rise up they found themselves all alone and facing Soviet retaliation.

Despite the cruel US propaganda, at least Eisenhower was wise enough to realize that no one would benefit from a nuclear war over Budapest.

Why is it any of our business whether Crimea is part of Ukraine or part of Russia? Why is it any of our business if the Russian-speaking population of eastern Ukraine prefer being aligned with Russia?

Why, for that matter, are unproven allegations of Russian meddling in our elections a violation of the “rules-based international order” but an actual US-backed coup against an elected Ukrainian government is not?

We are seeing foreign policy made by Raytheon and the other US military contractors, through cut-outs in government like Austin and others. Feckless US foreign policy “experts” believe their own propaganda about Russia and are on the verge of taking us to war over it.

It seems as if Americans are sleepwalking through this dangerous minefield. Let us hope they soon wake up before we’re all blown up.

Of course I expected the neoliberals and neoconservatives to reignite their regime change war in Syria, advance their efforts to attack Iran and continue their compulsive agitation against Russia, but then I thought for a second that maybe they’ll be busy enough with vaccine passports, lockdowns and establishing the New Normal that they would put their hegemonic schemes on hold for a while. Nope. They’re going full bore on everything. They’re also using their slim congressional majorities to enact procedural changes ensuring control of government akin to the 70 year rule of the PRI in Mexico, while using their woke corporate allies to blackmail states into towing the line – whether in Georgia with its election integrity law or in South Dakota with its effort to ban biological males from girls’ sports. Manchin is just waiting for an excuse to end the filibuster. Unfortunately I’m downwind from North Dakota’s nuclear silos, although it depends on whether it’s blowing in a northeasterly or southeasterly direction. Of course I hope they hit San Francisco. If that cloud wafts its way here, I’ll consider that “taking one for the team”.

Man is a learning animal…. just that some learn to scam scheme and cheat their way into postions of power while self enriching themselves. This drives them deeper into seeking more wealth and power with zero regard for the destruction they leave behind.

At this point in history, anyone who voluntarily joins the military is either an idiot, or void of all ethics and morality.
How can any person rationalize supporting a government that uses its military to steal resources and control their flow?
Not to mention these morons will probably get you killed or maimed to make billions for the elite.
I can easily see a situation where the US commits to military action in Ukraine, and China takes that as their opportunity to take Taiwan. China sinks an aircraft carrier or two, and Russia dominates the battlefield in Ukraine sending the US military hegemony into a spiral along with confidence in the dollar as the worlds reserve currency.
China breaks off trade with the US, and the US sinks into third world status as its economy crashes and it is incapable of producing what it needs to maintain its trade and economy.

Nope, they join the military to escape life in Bugtussle. They join for job training. They join because it is a welfare system where their wife and 4 kids can find a roof and medical care. Some even believing they are defenders of “democracy”. They are usually young, desperate and impressionable.

So? They could always join an organization that does less damage in the world – like the Bloods or the Crips.

“China sinks an aircraft carrier or two,”

That seems rather unlikely.

First, the Chinese must determine “can we actually sink a carrier?”. Of course they can. Carriers are sitting ducks. Modern military technology with hyper-sonic missiles and advanced submarines can fire their weapons from hundreds of miles away. A carrier costs multiple billions. Missiles a few million. Twenty or so incoming missiles would overwhelm the carrier group’s defenses. Auf Wiedersehn, Herr Carrier.

Second, they must consider the economic and political advantages in carrying out the attack. I can’t think of a single one. Can you?

Lastly, they must consider the American response. Some of their bat-shit crazy military leaders believe sinking one or two carriers will break America’s will to fight. Maybe, maybe not. But, we have our own batshit crazy leaders … who will demand complete vengeance and retribution … an all out hot war … leading inevitably, to a nuclear conflict which nobody wins and everybody loses. Both countries are bat-shit fucken crazy … but, not THAT bat-shit fucken crazy. Yet.

Nuclear war is a stawdog. It is never going to happen outside of a freak accident. MAD has assured that.

When all the institutions that you are taught to trust lie to you about everything, does this make the young man an idiot, or just naive because he has not yet been stung by betrayal. I wasn’t the only one to believe the lies, but the fact that they are lying to us is much more common knowledge.

For what it is worth, Crimea voted to remain with Russia.
This from wikipedia, but even the BBC said that was the outcome.

When you have everyone doing the wrong thing, the patterns start to emerge. Maybe this is how the cycle is restored. Wars are just an extension of the corruption of politics.
