My reason for writing this book is very simple: I would like to keep the record straight. I want to put in permanent form. the full story of my experiences as a Lend-Lease expediter and liaison officer with the Russians during the war, when I served for two crucial years, from May 1942 to Lune 1944, both at Newark Airport and at the big air base at Great Falls, Montana.

I went into the Army as a businessman in my forties and a veteran of World War I. From the first, as my story shows, I worked wholeheartedly on behalf of the Russians because, like everyone else, I considered it my duty to do so. That they were satisfied with my efforts is indicated by the fact that it was Colonel Kotikov, head of the Russian mission at Great Falls, who requested my promotion to Major.

But the tremendous volume of Lend-Lease material going through under “diplomatic immunity,” the infiltration of SOviet agents through the Pipeline, the shipments of non- supplies and even military secrets, were more than I could stomach. I finally protested through proper channels, first in Great Falls, and then in Washington; nothing happened. This was in 1944, while I was still in the Army.

“For the Marxist reviled the man of faith and ideals as bitterly as he did the financial exploiter. It was his creed that nothing existed in the world but matter and that no motive
could animate and man but self-interest. The great-organized institutions and societies based on faith and love and maintained by self-sacrifice though which man had raised himself above the primeval slime were to be ruthlessly destroyed and their adherents liquidated. First, they were to be undermined by criticism repeated again and again until
the corrosive ate into the old State so thoroughly that finally crumbled to pieces. Mob violence was to finish the process. The world would then be ready for an international
order that admitted of neither separate race, nor tradition, nor religion and in which all men would be subordinated as unthinking automatons to a single ruling clique Marxist intellectuals and bureaucrats .

For Hitler was accurate enough to realize that the Marxists did not stand for the freedom they pretended, but for a despotic uniformity, enforced by terror and annihilation of all who opposed them. In this, they differed only in their superior violence from the international financiers and exploiters they professed to supplant. Like Belloc and other earlier modern socials philosophers, Hitler perceived the twin roads down which mankind was being herded toward the servile state. First came the economic development which changed the social structure of the nation and substituted for its old feudal rulers, who at least had a certain sense of responsibility and noblesse oblige, the financier and the middle man who had none. Under the joint-stock company system, the search for profits became the sole guiding principle for life. The small artisan class slowly disappeared and the factory worker, who took his place, had scarcely any chance establish an independent existence of his own, but soon sank to the proletariat level. His present and future passed into the sole power of the man of figures who, calling himself his employer or master, acknowledged no responsibility for his moral or physical wellbeing. The hungry sheep looked up and were not fed.

The member of the new social class so created were “disinherited “in a treble sense. They were deprived of their independence. They were herded together in vast factory towns under conditions of living and employment that not only ruined their health, but robbed them of all faith in their country and its system of justice. And they were made to feel that the manual labour by which they lived was degrading and inferior to other forms of work. The ancient Order of the Peasantry, as Disraeli had once called it, had been transformed into a herd of helot without privilege or status.

But the process of social leveling was not yet complete. The poor were enslaved, but the higher and middle orders-the last repositories of culture and national social tradition of the past- still remained independent. Their independence was the final barrier that stood between the architects of constructive chaos and their goal. To destroy it no effort could be too great, And here the archenemy of the nation and society, the eternal and denationalized Jew, whom Hitler in his strange obsession saw in all places working to destroy the living state, seized his opportunity. By a masterpiece of ingenuity -“one of the most infamous deceits ever practiced”- the Jew turned the bitterness of the poor, whom his own usurious and irresponsible capitalism had dispossessed, against those who had till now escaped enslavement. “At first he had used the bourgeois class as a battering-ram against the feudal order; now he used the worker against the strongholds of the bourgeois. Just as he had succeeded in obtaining civil rights by intrigue carried on under the protection of the middle class, so now he hoped that joining in the struggle which the workers were waging for their existence he would be able to gain absolute power over them….He kowtowed to the worker, hypocritically pretended to feel pity for him and his lot and even to be indignant at the misery and poverty he had to endure….He showed himself eager to study his hardships, real or imaginary. He strove to waken a longing in the masses to change the conditions under which they lived. Artfully the Jew enkindled that innate yearning for social justice which is a typical Aryan characteristic. Once that desire became conscious it was transformed into hatred against those in more fortunate circumstances of life. The next stage was to give a precise philosophical explanation of this struggle for the elimination of social wrongs. And thus the Marxist doctine was invented.

Yet, the ultimate objective of that sinister Movement was not, it appeared, the triumph of the proletariat, but the domination of those who by exploitation had created the Proletariat – the Jews.”Without knowing it the worker is placing himself at the service of the very power against which he believes he is fighting. In appearance he is made fight against capital, while all the while he is furthering capitalistic interests.” The ultimate aims of Marxism and international Capitalism were in Hitler’s eyes the same: the concentration of all power in the hands of a few, and the elimination of every independent agency that could resist the process. “

I have studied the issue of Stalin´s plans to invade Western Europe for years. I have reached the conclusion that Suvorov ( A GRU officer, not a KGB officer – the GRU is Soviet/Russian military intelligence) hit the nail on the head. Stalin did indeed plan to attack Germany and then roll up the rest of Europe and was confident he could do it. A series of events and miscalculations upset his apple cart.
The “historians” who claim that Stalin had abandoned Communist plans for world conquest and that the Soviet Union´s military build up was to defend itself from a threatening “capitalist” world, are bunk mongers. They lie and they know they lie.
Stalin knew perfectly well that none of the major Western powers (UK, USA, France) had the slightest intention of attacking the USSR – his spies kept him well-informed and they swarmed in every Western government. As for Japan and Germany, Stalin´s military had given Japan a bad bloody nose in 1939 in a significant clash in a disputed region near Mongolia and China (Khalkhin Gol). The Japanese Army, while in some respects formidable, was utterly outclassed by Soviet armor formations, one of several reasons why Japan went south instead of north (which Hitler desperately wanted them to do). As for Germany, it was rearming as fast as it could but despite its advanced technology and the tactical superiority of the Wehrmacht, Germany was in no position to win a war of attrition with the USSR. Knowing that a clash with the Soviets was inevitable and that the Soviet forces were growing stronger by the month, Hitler rolled the dice, betting that his forces could knock the Soviets out in a short but massive campaign. He miscalculated, to say the least.
The court historians point to the rapid collapse of the Soviet forces in June and July of 1941 as evidence that they were unprepared, incompetent, and armed with obsolete equipment. Their humiliating drubbing in the 1939 Winter War with Finland supposedly adds weight to this position.
The facts are far different. The Soviet forces did suffer from some serious deficiencies, some of their equipment was obsolete, and the Soviet system did not lend itself to infusing initiative and imagination into the officer corps. However, the Soviet Union in June 1941 was a huge arsenal with unlimited potential for producing war material, thanks to a brutal program of industrialization financed with the blood of millions of Soviet citizens (and with much of the heavy industrial equipment, technology and know-how supplied by the USA). Stalin had spared no expense in preparing the Soviet Union for an offensive war. The Soviet forces were armed and deployed to attack, not defend. The idea that the Communist regime genuinely feared an attack by any country except Germany is absurd. Germany was a real threat and Hitler always hoped to destroy the Soviet regime but Stalin had cleverly moved the chess pieces to involve Germany in a war with the UK and France, one he thought would be long and drawn out.
Surprise, surprise. The French collapsed and the British had to run for their lives. Now Stalin had to deal with a victorious Germany which had all but rid itself of two of its main enemies. Stalin knew he had to act, and fast. it is likely Hitler beat him to the punch by only a month or two.
The Soviet armies facing the Germans were largely destroyed but the Germans paid a heavy price. Yes, they overran huge areas and took millions of prisoners but the Soviets inflicted terrible losses on them. The Russians were no pushovers, like the French, the British, and the Poles.
The primary reason for the early Soviet catastrophe was the fact that Hitler caught them right in the middle of their preparations to attack Germany. Imagine a powerful heavy weight boxer caught by a middle weight while his trunks are around his ankles. The smaller man will land some tough punches, but weight will eventually tell.
Western historians have covered for the Communist regime for decades, downplaying the importance and effectiveness of a massive world-wide campaign of espionage, sabotage, political subversion, treason, and violence, directed from Moscow.
The Communists never for one minute wavered in their ultimate goals. We have to ask ourselves if the formal disappearance of the Soviet Bloc really changed anything.
I am not a Russophobe. I do not believe Putin is a reincarnation of Stalin. That said, the rot and decay sown by the Soviets in the West in the period 1920-80 is finally coming into full flower, even as the architects of it passed from the scene long ago.

For anyone interested in the war experience of the Waffen soldier on the Eastern Front. This is a fascinating read for any history buff.

The Russians came at dawn, the better part of two regiments, men and tanks silhouetted against the blood-red sun as they moved forward across the steppe. Huddled among the peasants’ huts of Gromovaya-Balka, the men of the Wallonian Legion awaited them, silently cursing the frozen earth, which had offered implacable resistance to their entrenching tools.
Against the oncoming Soviet troops—4,000 of them—and the 14 tanks which accompanied them, the 500 Belgian volunteers who held the village disposed of no weapons heavier than machine guns. Their only hope was to hold on until the German command, hard pressed all along the Samara front, could rush them reinforcements badly needed in other sectors.
Corporal Leon Degrelle crouched behind the frozen carcass of a horse, sighting down the barrel of his MG34. He gave no heed to the bitter cold or to his injured foot, painfully broken two weeks before.
The Russian artillery shells were already landing in the village, inflicting terrible casualties when they were on target. Now the Soviet infantry broke into a run, their blood-curdling battle cry, “Ourrah pobieda!,” “Hurrah for victory!,” ringing in the ears of the French-speaking Walloons, drowning out the cries of the wounded and dying. Degrelle and his comrades began to fire, tearing big gaps in the ranks of the advancing Russians…
