The Right to Bear Arms

The Right to Bear Arms

Would carrying a gun make you feel safer?

Robert Nash and Brandon Koch thought so. But the state of New York denied them gun permits, saying they hadn’t demonstrated a “special need.”

Why did they have to prove such a “need”? The Supreme Court ruled more than 10 years ago that all Americans have a right to keep and bear arms, no matter where they live.

“Many other courts have thumbed their nose at that Supreme Court ruling,” Alan Gottlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation tells me. He’s excited that the Supreme Court will soon rule on Nash and Koch’s lawsuit over New York’s law.

I understand Nash and Koch’s frustration. I once tried to get a carry permit in New York.

First, I had to read 60 pages of instructions about irrelevant things like “metal knuckle knives” and “kung fu stars,” fill out a confusing 17-page form, get it notarized and then go in person to police headquarters.

There they fingerprinted me, demanded reasons why I should be allowed to have a gun and charged me $430.

I heard nothing from them for half a year. Then they wrote me saying that my application was “denied.”

I called to ask if I could appeal. They said I could try again if I could prove that “special need” to carry a gun. After years of confronting crooks on TV, I actually do have a special need for self-protection. I showed the cops threats on my life.

Not good enough, said the NYC permit department. They turned me down again.

Apparently, my mistake was not bribing the cops. Later it was revealed that the police in the permit department were giving out permits for money.

Scams like that thrive whenever politicians impose too many restrictions on people’s freedom. In parts of California, people got gun permits if they donated to a sheriff’s campaign.

It’s one more reason why Gottlieb is excited about this new Supreme Court case. Court watchers predict his side will win, especially because there are now more originalist judges on the court.

That means it’s likely that soon, almost all Americans will be legally able to carry guns.

Some people say that will be terrible.

“Women are less safe!” says professor Lisa Moore of the University of Texas on TV. “Every vulnerable population, LGBT people, students of color, has more to fear!”

But then why are 58% of new gun owners Blacks, and 40% women?

“An awful lot of women bought a firearm to protect themselves and feel a whole lot safer!” says Gottlieb. “Eight hundred thousand times a year, a person uses a firearm to protect themselves. If you call 911, the police usually get there after the crime is over.

Over the last decades, most states liberalized their gun laws. More allow concealed carry. Gun control advocates predicted that would lead to an epidemic of shootings.

The opposite happened. As concealed carry was legalized, violent crime went down. Especially telling, crime dropped in each state right after the law was changed.

Gottlieb says that’s because “an armed society is a polite society.”

As a reporter who attended only liberal schools and worked in liberal newsrooms, I’d been taught that more guns means more violence. Even after interviewing violent criminals in prison and hearing many say that what they feared most was “not the police” but that the person being robbed “might be armed,” I still believed that more guns meant more crime.

Only when I started researching gun crime and studying the data did it become clear that most of my anti-gun assumptions were wrong.

More guns really does mean less crime.

Unfortunately for those who would like to link Hitler and the National Socialists with gun control, the entire premise for such an effort is false.”
Depends on weather or not you were Jewish German Citizen. Gun Control was pretty severe for Jews and they were much less safe because of that gun control as history will reveal.

” In 1938, Hitler signed a new Gun Control Act. Now that many “enemies of the state” had been removed from society, some restrictions could be slightly liberalized, especially for Nazi Party members. But Jews were prohibited from working in the firearms industry, and .22 caliber hollow-point ammunition was banned.
The time had come to launch a decisive blow to the Jewish community, to render it defenseless so that its “ill-gotten” property could be redistributed as an entitlement to the German “Volk.” The German Jews were ordered to surrender all their weapons, and the police had the records on all who had registered them. Even those who gave up their weapons voluntarily were turned over to the Gestapo.
This took place in the weeks before what became known as the Night of the Broken Glass, or Kristallnacht, occurred in November 1938. That the Jews were disarmed before it, minimizing any risk of resistance, is the strongest evidence that the pogrom was planned in advance. An incident was needed to justify unleashing the attack.
That incident would be the shooting of a German diplomat in Paris by a teenage Polish Jew. Hitler directed propaganda minister Josef Goebbels to orchestrate the Night of the Broken Glass. This massive operation, allegedly conducted as a search for weapons, entailed the ransacking of homes and businesses, and the arson of synagogues.
SS chief Heinrich Himmler decreed that 20 years be served in a concentration camp by any Jew possessing a firearm. Rusty revolvers and bayonets from the Great War were confiscated from Jewish veterans who had served with distinction. Twenty thousand Jewish men were thrown into concentration camps, and had to pay ransoms to get released.
The U.S. media covered the above events. And when France fell to Nazi invasion in 1940, the New York Times reported that the French were deprived of rights such as free speech and firearm possession just as the Germans had been. Frenchmen who failed to surrender their firearms within 24 hours were subject to the death penalty. ”

Funny how all the places with strict gun control laws have a lot of violence and criminals and Democrats in charge. Corrupt officials that want to control people also.

I think I understand the mind of the left. They love discord. They love chaos. It is their road to rule. After decades of nonstop needling, huge cracks are showing. They’re like rats gnawing at a barn door until your barn is looted of all your hard work. Work that allows the farm to continue to thrive and support your local community. Centralization is the end goal. Centralization of thought. The devil.

They do not love it. They just don’t understand that they have enormous internal chaos. The mind is good at hiding its motivations. Just like how junk food eaters mistake their cravings for nutrients, I think the few positive things in their life like basic social interaction benefits maybe interpreted as reinforcing whatever more specific behavior they were engaged in on some level.

I pity them, but I am not about to let them take my shit and kill my family because they had shitty nurturing or were born brown.

no, they dont love discord or chaos. they, however, only ever exist as parasites on something else, and they always shift into discord or chaos mode as a mechanism to distract , weaken, deflect, or defeat the host’s defense mechanisms. if they ever do get their hands on power, it is not at all discord and chaos. what it is that they dismantle is very specific: they dismantle civil society that existed outside of their control. That includes customs, morals, culture, and the day to day meat and potatoes law and order we often call ‘the peace’ or ‘polite society’, which is the basic ‘dont steal, dont attack people, dont rob people, dont kill people, dont vandalize other peoples shit’ and that sort of thing. that sort of law and order, no, they arent concerned with. but they will have armies of cops swarming all over enforcing ideological diktat and enforcing their new ownership of everything. their discord is a specific and targeted discord aimed at harming the host organism.
of course no marxist/leftist/communist/whatever you call it this day of the week regime has ever been able to stand on its own two feet for very long, because the parasite kills the host. that has never mattered to them. one of their motivating factors is a hatred of everything, and destruction, even if it is their own doom as well, is preferable to them than seeing free people happy and not under someone’s control.

collapse works if nothing else does. usually at least for a generation or two people remember what a clusterfuck it was and dont give much room for that shit to catch anywhere for a while. in smaller societies it’s harder for that disease to grow to proportions where it can cause such harm. the bigger the entity, the worse it can get.

I absolutely think they love chaos. And by chaos I include upsetting longstanding social norms and just not letting people be normal and free. I think part of the allure of deviant sexual behavior is that it’s deviant. After they got gay marriage legalized it only took about 5 minutes for them to start pushing to let self-declared trans people to use bathrooms where they interact with children. They don’t push for trans rights DESPITE it having an unfortunate impact in children. They push for it specifically BECAUSE they like the discomfort normals feel when a guy with a dick in a dress is able to expose his dick to little girls. They like the face tats and piercings and pink hair because they’re trying to shock you. They bring up past racism in the context of July 4th not to educate people but to make sure you can’t enjoy your weekend. You can’t even cook a goddamn hamburger or have a campfire or use gasoline without them lecturing you about how it impacts the fucking weather. They are just one giant anchor on our collective dick.

Okay, so Mr. Stossel who lives in a Democratic Shithole State had his “concealed carry” permit turned down after waiting 6 months. If he’s that afraid, maybe he should just go on and stick a small pistol in his pocket and go on his merry way. If I was that afraid, I would worry about the laws later after still being alive following an attack by some assailant.

The whole shtick about Hitler banning firearms is nonsense. The Nazis only banned firearms ownership for criminals and Communists, more or less (they were usually one and the same). Who REALLY banned firearms? The Communists in the Soviet Union. With some logical exceptions (people living in Siberia, shotguns for bird hunting and pest control, etc.) all weapons were rounded up, to ensure a minimum of secret police casualties when they went to round up innocent people. We have not quite reached that point yet but one day we will have to greet “American” secret police with weapons in our hands. After the first two or three hundred are blown off their feet the others will seek new careers. Remember always what Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said. In the Gulag camps how they burned to think that if each of the prisoners had bashed in the heads of the NKVD agents with frying pans the whole system would have collapsed. We have no need of frying pans. Any man in this country who is not armed by now is a coward and a fool.

Don’t forget about the Turks. Hate +Govt+Gun Control = Democide

“It’s the traitorous Armenians! It’s the greedy Kulaks! It’s the filthy Jews! It’s the oppressive Rwandan Hutus! It’s the white-racist rednecks! Let’s go get them, and make them pay!”

• 1911: In Turkey, the Ottoman Empire killed 1.5 million Armenians.
• 1929: Soviet Union implemented gun control, and after 20 years, killed over 20 million dissidents.
• 1935: After 17 years of gun control laws, 20 million dissidents were killed in China.
• 1938: Nazi Germany enacted gun control laws for Jews and by 1945, had murdered 13 million Jewish people.
• 1956: In just two years after gun control laws were enacted, one million people were killed in Cambodia.
• 1964: In a nine-year span after gun control, Guatemala killed over 100,000 Mayan Indians.
• 1970: In Uganda, 300,000 Christians were killed after gun control was implemented.
• 1994: The government of Rwanda disarmed the Tutsi people, and executed almost one million of them.
