Rural Diapers

Guest Post by Eric Peters

So many things are topsy-turvy these days. Every day. It will not be surprising if the sun comes up at night tomorrow and goes down in the morning the next day. Equally unnerving is the reversal of Diapering.

Last time this year, most people you saw in rural areas were still showing their faces – a stark contrast to the near-universal face-effacing one saw in suburban and most of all, urban areas.

Now it’s the other way ’round.

At least, in my rural area. There are few face-effacers to be seen in Roanoke, Va – until just a month or so ago, a “hot spot” of face-effacing. Even where not enforced, one rarely saw another face when Orange Man was still very bad. It was a sea of “masks” – as these disgusting items are styled by those who do not understand what it means to wear one.

Or – worse – do.

But as of this week, even at the hottest spots of all – such as the “clean foods” store, Earth Fare, which is very popular with people superficially concerned about their health (italicized to reflect the fact that any otherwise healthy person who wears a “mask” is not healthy in the head and any otherwise healthy person who assumes the risk of being Jabbed is most definitely not actually concerned with their health) there are now lots of faces showing.

And only a handful of sad-looking face-effacers, generally the very old and the very young – the former with at least some reason for effacing; the latter’s capacity to reason having never developed or been superseded by he need to broadcast what they believe to be their moral superiority.

But otherwise, it appears almost normal downtown.

It is when you travel out of town that you begin to feel sick again – on account of what is to be seen. Fewer faces. More face-effacing. At the Food Lion on the outskirts of the tiny town of Floyd, Va – the hub of the rural county where I live (population approximately 15,000 last time I checked) it looks like it’s still last summer. There are Freaks everywhere. Some of them recoil in terror when a face-shower such as myself approaches too close to the prescribed Kabuki circle of six feet and no closer. I became aware of one such as I was pondering barbecue sauces and felt the presence of a disturbance in the Force. Well, of someone standing behind me – but making sure to “practice” the strange distance rituals of the Faucian Kabuki.

As I turned to ponder other food items, this creature – hard to know what it was, behind its “mask” – reared back like an alarmed cockatiel and bug-eyed-Moonwalked itself in the opposite direction, so as to avoid my deadly Undiapered breath.

I almost said boo! – but decided to behave myself.

But what accounts for this Rural Diapering? Country people used to be more sensible – less easy to dupe – than city people. Well, in terms of practical things – like cheating them on a land deal, for instance. Or feeding them a BS story about what’s not really wrong with their car. Country people tend to know how to do more everyday things that city (and suburban) people have no idea how to do – and usually have to call someone else to do.

But country people are also less sophisticated in other ways. Many – and I know many, personally – do not know there are other sources of information besides CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN. It’s what’s on cable, you see.

Or rather, it is all they see – and hear. And so, believe.

Many of these people are fine, hard-working people- and that’s precisely the problem. They work. Usually, outdoors – or at least, with their hands. Not that this doesn’t involve their minds; of course it does. Anyone who can weld or wire a house or operate a backhoe isn’t stupid. But often such people do not have the time or the inclination to root around online for a different point of view – and facts – than those presented by what’s on cable.

So, all many of them hear is “mask,” “mask” and more “mask.” Even if they have been Vaxxed.

Lately, they are hearing about the “Delta” scariant – without any countervailing facts about its similar-to-the-original-Rona marginality as a threat to the otherwise healthy; and they’re not hearing that the Vaxxed are the ones that may be most at-risk from this new scariant of the ‘Rona.

Which is tragic because the reason for ongoing Diapering appears to be a propagated – by the cable box – fear of the “vaccine hesitant,” concentrated in rural areas. In other words, the rural face-effacers are terrified of the unVaxxed which they imagine to be exhaling death all around them when in fact the real threat is posed by the Vax being injected into them – which makes these poor people more likely to get (and die from) the newest Scariant.

But they haven’t heard that on the TeeVee – which is become something far worse than the idiot box it used to be.

Out here in the real suburbs of the sticks outside Podunk, Nowhere we are more worried about the return of the Delta Burke than the Delta Variant.

There’s rural, Eric. And there’s hillbilly nowhere. We never work the masks; we just had a few in case someone made a fuss. Very rarely was a fuss made. It is strange and rare to see a mask now. Even in the parking lots… they’ve just gone away.

I think your small town experience needs to come visit the real rural America.

The mask wearers east of Tallahassee are mostly the Negros, who generally reside in Monticello City and are not actually rural folks.

“But what accounts for this Rural Diapering”?

Yes, the negroes have the same mentality of the rural. It’s all about trust or lack thereof.
The negro can sometimes be offended by explaining their pigment disallows absorption of vitamin D while others will nod their head and go along.
It’s all about trust.
Negroes believe it’s another Whiteman scheme, this Rona, while the country folk don’t trust a new variant to be any less harmful. After all, the Chinese invented it and country folk all know not to ever trust the chinese.
That’s the best idea I have witnessing the same behavior in the backwoods and waters as Mr Peters writes about.
In closing, I don’t blame the rural people for not trusting anything anymore.

My experience has been different as well, all the guys I know that could ” weld, wire a house, or run a backhoe” have not and are not now, face diperers.

Amen to that! I live out in the boonies, and it never got bad. Most people ignored the fear.

Practically no one in my very rural area has ever worn a mask. Even when mandates were in effect.
We know the law out here.
Mask/lockdown mandates are UNENFORCEABLE. Most rural authorities know that. If they try to arrest you for non compliance, you can and should sue them personally.
DO NOT COMPLY

Boy, talk about a housing market crash in the making. Then municipalities. Then pensions.
Could be very distressing watching the oligarchs snap up all that property like the Robber Barons of old.
Again. States selling to the highest bidder begetting the metropolis’ renamed Chiang city. We ain’t seen nothin yet.

I’m surprised to find this clip here. KaD are you just kidding around?
I live in Calgary, Canada. I watched this clip and this guy for the first time today. He’s full of shit.
They hyped up hard how two provincial governments had lifted the state of emergency and didn’t tell anyone. The outrage!!! He and some mouthpiece from AwakeCanada.org were blathering on hysterically about how the courts this and that. All bullshit and complete misinformation. He’s either stupid, lazy, or dishonest and click baiting.
It took me 2 minutes on Duck Duck Go to find the real information right off the same govt sites they were referencing. The comment section was chock full of willing idiots who ate it up and went on to say how they were going to hang the govt, Nuremburg Code justice, it was the jews, etc.
Not one of the useful idiots bothered to check the info that was readily available. Instead, they just gobbled up what they want to hear. They deserve to be locked down and kept off the streets. Oh Canada. I could weep.
Both provincial governments extended their lockdown mandates and can continue to do so every 30 days until December. The courts had nothing to do with it. I posted the links on his comments section for the fools. Didn’t seem to faze them at all.
Sorry for the rant. This stuff doesn’t belong here except on the Friday Fail.

The only way to win this, despite all of the newer more scary “variants” is to say bring it on and walk proud and let my genetics and not your mRNa run a switch never off in my life. Be unafraid of the the barbs and arrows which have no flight, no science and no fact. Currently the cure is killing more than the “disease”. Delta scary … please!
Have we forgotten we have an immune system that has tasted the Black death the Spanish Flu , aids, H1N1, and every time they attack the survivors get stronger.
Someone is Lying because have you ever seen the desire to jab nearly everyone, all around the World for what is essentially a highly contagious Flu with a death rate that is so low the Spanish Flu looks to be the winner, winner chicken dinner.
If you do not read History you cannot see the future.
This is a nothing burger, cherry picked by the MSN urged on by those who Know this is the most ridiculous thing a thinking person has ever seen.
To the Fully vaccinated people you have only one question to ask yourself, Why after both vaccinations you tell me I can still get it, carry and spread it and please wear a mask..oh.. that all folks ..

Something evil this way comes!

The Earth Fare in West Ashley/Charleston still has a sign asking that everyone needs to wear a mask. The funny thing is that very few employees wear one and the hipster/aging hippie customers predominantly do.

Dumbasses.

It’s more like the people wearing the diaper are those who are easier to control with fear. I think I’ve worn a mask of sorts a dozen times in the last year or so just to make others happy. I’ve seen people recoil in fear at the sight of my unmasked family, this happened yesterday when we went for burgers. Masked Asians behind us moved backwards and started talked fast to each other in some foreign lingo when they saw us.
Both my kids are going back to public school this fall because they like having real in-person friends and the local school doesn’t require masks. The online schools were teaching basically the same crap the local schools teach.

Wearing a mask is not just fear but also a statement of what political tribe you belong to. When you see them in rural areas, they are generally worn by people who recently relocated or are visiting the area. Masks were never a big thing in any of the western states rural areas we either live in or travel to/through from November through March each year. Other than the occasional Costco or Walmart, we’ve never had to wear them.

Not true of Southwest Arkansas. Outside of health establishments, masks are pretty rare here. And where they appear, they are usually worn by employees at the demand of corporate headquarters.
