I’ve been doing some reading on excess mortality statistics just now. There’s a nice little widget which allows you to go state by state, medical condition by medical condition, and every one has a higher than expected

Now keep in mind this includes the over-reporting of covid deaths.*.
The mainstream line on that topic is that “Look, higher excess mortality, we must be drastically under-reporting covid deaths!”
*If you’ve seen the recent CDC mortality reporting guidelines, it’s a heck of a lot easier to list a death as covid than a VARS report. You don’t even need a positive test.
FWIW, CDC death numbers for all causes in 2019 (latest published data) total ~2,800,000.
