I hope this column becomes not only a TBP regular feature, but grows exponentially with time. I know Hope is Not a Strategy, but our current crises needs us to feel like the tide is finally turning. Perhaps it is.
Does this mean we won’t again see Andy in those red clown uniforms bedecked with medals earned whilst climbing the bluffs under withering fire at Point Du Hoc or leading the bayonet charge over no-man’s-land at Verdun? Pity.

Yes, FM, I would call all of these events #Winning, and look forward to more of these posts. Being stuck in Ontario, under yet another lockdown and unable to travel by any means to leave Canada, posts like this provide a bit of hope in an otherwise weary world, and I could sure use some good news these days.
With regards to ‘lock downs’ just do like we do in BC. Fucking ignore it all.
It’s not so easy when you live in a suburb next door to Toronto, where the crazy is deep and strong. I still see people daily double masked with face shields driving around alone in their own private cars, and people obsessively sanitizing at every station in the grocery store.
I can ignore most of it, but after a while, this situation just wears on you.

Just yesterday I overheard a conversation. In it someone on a worksite was bemoaning the lack of compliance and insolence by some holdouts. At some point my name came up, and the fellow on other end of phone said, that he was surprised that I was being such a meathead.. The reason for his shock is he does not know me well. The door quickly closed and I heard no more.
That was yesterday.
Something I learned a long time ago is, when working in an explosive environment, to make damn sure that everyone has matches. That way everybody is forced to be on their best behaviour. Ensures polite conversation in the game of chicken , guaranteeing Mutually assured destruction, if by chance the game of chance is played…
