Jay Binder, Top-Notch Casting Director for Broadway, Dies at 71

Jay Binder, who served as the casting director for nearly 100 Broadway productions, from Lost in Yonkers, Laughter on the 23rd Floor and The King and I to Chicago, The Lion King and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, has died. He was 71.
Binder died peacefully Friday at his home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a publicist announced. The cause of death has not been determined.

Charnett Moffett, the Bay Area jazz star who worked with Art Blakey, Ornette Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and so many other legendary artists during his nearly 40-year career, has died at the age of 54.
“I am deeply saddened and shocked to confirm that the beloved and iconic jazz bass innovator, composer, and leader Charnett Moffett suddenly passed away due to a heart attack early Monday, April 11th,” publicist Lydia Liebman wrote in a news release. “He was with Jana Herzen, his wife of two years and musical collaborator of twelve years at the time. He was pronounced dead at Stanford University Hospital.”

Chick Corea is known as one of the most powerful pianists, composers, and bandleaders in the history of jazz. He earned 27 Grammy awards and blazed trails across bebop, straight-ahead, free jazz, fusion and Latin jazz over the course of nearly 6 decades.
When he he died unexpectedly last February from a rare form of cancer, he left dozens of musicians heartbroken. On Apr. 15, Jazz at Lincoln Center will celebrate Corea’s legacy with a concert of his music performed by band members from every phase of his long career.

Dance Gavin Dance Bassist Tim Feerick Has Died

Dance Gavin Dance are mourning the loss of their longtime bassist, Tim Feerick, who died on Wednesday (April 13), as the band revealed in a statement.
Feerick, who plays the bass guitar on Dance Gavin Dance’s latest album, last year’s Afterburner, had maintained membership in the group for the past decade after joining in 2009 but leaving the following year. He returned to the post-hardcore band in 2012, supplanting bassist Eric Lodge.
Dance Gavin Dance said on Thursday (April 14), “We are absolutely devastated to share the news that our friend and bass player, Tim Feerick, passed away last night.”
They added, “We ask that you respect our privacy and that of Tim’s family while we deal with this heartbreaking and untimely loss.”
Dance Gavin Dance did not offer Feerick’s cause of death or his age on Thursday. Regarding their upcoming tour dates, they said they would share updates “as soon as we have them.” They’re due to start a U.S. tour with Memphis May Fire this month.

Swell frontman David Freel has died at 64

David Freel, who led San Francisco psych band Swell through the ’90s and ’00s, died on April 12 in Oregon City. He was 64. Stereogum points out that the news was shared today via Swell’s Facebook page: “David led with spontaneous curiosity and an appreciation for the world around him, always learning more, he even learned how to surf. “
Former Swell bassist Monte Vallier wrote a lengthy tribute to David, saying in part, “The Swell days were some of the best ones of my life, also the most challenging. What held me there was the gravitational pull of David. I was lucky to be one of the planets in his orbit.”

Brian Wallace, a former lineman at the University of Arkansas, has died at the age of 26, the team announced on Friday.
The Razorbacks organization confirmed the sad news in a statement, saying, “Our hearts are broken.”
Wallace was reportedly struggling to breathe while at work, so he went outside to sit in his car to gather himself. When Wallace returned, the 26-year-old collapsed after he suffered a heart attack, according to FOX 16.
Medical personnel tried to restore Wallace’s breathing on scene — and they were successful — but when Brian arrived at the hospital, he suffered another heart attack.
His father, Brian Sr., said Wallace was in the Intensive Care Unit of a St. Louis hospital because the heart attacks left him in a coma and with apparent brain damage, according to the outlet.

Former NFL player Ed Jasper dies at 49

Ed Jasper, a defensive lineman who played nine seasons in the NFL, has died at the age of 49.
A sixth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 1997, Jasper played two years in Philadelphia, six in Atlanta and one in Oakland. Jasper’s best seasons came in Atlanta, and he started all 16 games for a Falcons team that made the playoffs in 2002.

Auburn football: Ex-Tigers QB Jeff Klein, 42, dies following sudden hospitalization

Former Auburn quarterback Jeff Klein died Wednesday afternoon, per a post from his wife, Adrienne. Klein was admitted to Piedmont Columbus Regional, a medical center in Columbus, Ga., on April 8 with what was, at the time, an unknown illness.
He initially went to the hospital after suffering from severe back pain and underwent an MRI, which revealed “spots on his lower back,” per a GoFundMe page set up by his family. He was later diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and, Tuesday night, had a severe stroke.
Klein most recently served as a teacher, football offensive coordinator and head baseball coach at Loachapoka High School in Auburn, Ala. Klein signed with Auburn in 1998 and redshirted in his first year.

Mike Bossy, Islanders great, 4-time Cup champion, dies at 65

Mike Bossy flopped to the ice as the puck went in, then scrambled to his feet and leaped into the air to celebrate scoring another goal. It was a familiar sight as the New York Islanders were on their way to their third of four consecutive Stanley Cup titles.
Bossy danced on his skates the same way after his 50th goal in 50 games, but so many other times, his reaction was more muted simply because he scored so much and so often, more than almost anyone in the long history of the NHL.
The Hockey Hall of Famer died Thursday night of lung cancer. He was 65.
Bossy revealed his cancer diagnosis in October in a letter to TVA Sports. He wrote in French: “It is with a lot of sadness that I need to step away from your screens, for a necessary pause. I intend to fight with all the determination and fire you’ve seen me show on the ice.”
It’s the third loss from that Islanders era this year. Fellow Hall of Famer Gillies died in January and Jean Potvin died in March.

On April 12, the famous Soviet figure skater-world champion (1981), European champion (1981), USSR champion (1976), participant of the Olympic Games (1976) in pair skating Irina Vorobyova died suddenly.
Irina Vorobyova was born on June 30, 1958. She started figure skating at the age of 7 in Leningrad. In pair skating, she competed with Alexander Vlasov and Igor Lisovsky. Under the guidance of coach Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina, she achieved outstanding results.
After completing her sports career, Irina Nikolaevna switched to coaching. She moved to the United States and trained at the center in Colorado Springs.

37-year-old Scott Rettich of Springboro, Ohio has sadly passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2022.
The cause of Scott Rettich’s death is unknown at the time of this publication.
Scott raced with Kerin Motorsports in the SCCA Central Division in the Formula Mazda and Spec Racer Ford classes in 2006. In the Formula Mazda class, he won five out of ten races to win the title.

3 Navy Sailors Serving on Same Ship Found Dead in Less Than a Week

Three sailors posted to a Navy aircraft carrier have died in the space of less than a week, officials have said. Last Friday, a Navy spokesperson said, an unnamed sailor was found unresponsive aboard the USS George Washington and later died. Then Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp was found dead at an off-base location on April 9. One day later, Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Natasha Huffman was also found dead ashore.
“While these incidents remain under investigation, there is no initial indication to suggest there is a correlation between these tragic events,” said Cmdr. Reann Mommsen, the spokesperson. She did not name a cause of death for any of the sailors.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service and local authorities are actively investigating all three cases, according to CNN, and ship commanders have brought on a Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention Team to support the rest of the crew.

Durham, N.C. — Tyson Steffens, 48, of Durham, N.C., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Tyson was a devoted and active dad who built impressive multi-story backyard structures (one was featured in the local newspaper) for his young boys to explore and share his love of the outdoors. As they grew older, Tyson was an active spectator and coach, cheering his boys on at every event — be it a race or a concert.
Tyson took every opportunity be outside with his kids and took them mountain biking from a young age at Lake Crabtree. He helped his oldest son, Jackson, construct his own bike a few years ago and biked with his younger son, Gage, almost every weekend. The bike he had built himself was the bike he died on — doing what he loved, in the place he loved, with people he loved.

Authorities ID San Ysidro woman killed in I-5 rollover crash

San Diego — A woman who died last week in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 near San Diego’s Nestor neighborhood has been identified as a San Ysidro resident whose husband was behind the wheel of their pickup.
Leticia Gutierrez de Ordaz, 64, was killed April 12 in a crash that also seriously injured her husband, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office and California Highway Patrol. Another woman, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision, suffered less serious injuries.
The crash occurred about 10:50 a.m. on north I-5 approaching Coronado Avenue, CHP spokesperson Officer Mark Latulippe said last week. Witnesses told investigators that a Ford Ranger — driven by Gutierrez de Ordaz’s 65-year-old husband — was headed north in a left lane when it suddenly veered across the five-lane freeway.
As the pickup reached the right lanes of the freeway, its back end was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta and the truck rolled several times, according to the CHP and Medical Examiner’s Office.
Gutierrez de Ordaz was thrown from the pickup and gravely injured, officials said. Paramedics took her to UC San Diego Medical Center, where she died just after 11:40 a.m.
The victim’s husband suffered major trauma to his extremities and was also taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, according to José Ysea, a spokesperson for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Paramedics took the Jetta’s driver, a 24-year-old Chula Vista woman, to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest for treatment of minor injuries.
Hollis Resnik, acclaimed Chicago stage actress, dead at 67

Hollis Resnik, a Chicago actress who made her home on musical theater stages in a host of memorable and critically acclaimed performances, has died. She was 67.
Ms. Resnik died Sunday at Swedish Covenant Hospital, where she had been hospitalized for the past week or so, according to the Rev. Jim Heneghan, a longtime friend, who said her ex-husband, musician Thomas Mendel, was at her side.
According to Heneghan, the actress was looking ahead to a possible return to the concert stage this summer.

South Hadley mourns loss of ‘extraordinary educator’ Hank Skala, 67

South Hadley, MA — Cooke and others were sharing their fond memories of the beloved Skala, who died the evening of April 1. He was 67, and had been on leave since February when he had fallen “quite ill,” according to Assistant Superintendent Mark McLaughlin.
McLaughlin shared the news with families in the school, which educates the town’s youngest students in kindergarten and first grade. McLaughlin described Skala, who was known to refer to students as his “tiger cubs,” as a “mentor to many and a friend to all.”
In a social media post, Skala’s younger brother, Mark, said that the family was “heartbroken and in shock” at Skala’s death.
He said Skala’s death came suddenly, however; the school had hired an interim principal, but had made it clear to Skala that the position was his if his health improved and he was able to return.

19-year-old ASU student dies after being found unresponsive in Sun Devil Fitness Center

An Arizona State University student was found dead Saturday night in the pool area of the Sun Devil Fitness Center.
Adam Wolfe, a spokesperson for the ASU Police Department, said around 7:20 p.m. officers responded to a report of an injured person in the fitness center and found Andrew Bryan, 19, unresponsive in the pool area.
Police took over CPR efforts from the reporting party but Bryan was declared dead on scene. The Tempe Fire and Medical Rescue department also assisted in the efforts.
Police believe Bryan was swimming laps at the pool, Wolfe said. The medical examiner will determine what led to his death, but no foul play is suspected.
The reporting party has not given permission to release their information, Wolfe said, and it is unclear whether they were in the pool area with Bryan.

Rome, Ga. — She served her community for 34 years before retiring in 2018. The Rome Police Department announced this week Pamela Gibbons Richey has died.
Patrolman First Class Richey unexpectedly passed away on Monday, they said. She was “one of the first” Black female officers hired by the department in 1984.
While with the Rome Police Department, PFC Richey served in the Patrol Division, Rome/Floyd METRO Task Force, SWAT team, and as a hostage negotiator. She also served as a school resource officer at both Rome High School and Rome Transitional Academy, they said.

County emergency personnel mourn death of KSD Det. Jeffery Bliss, 43, 23-year department veteran

The Kenosha Sheriff’s Department (WI) announced Tuesday “with deep sadness and sorrow” the death of Detective Jeffrey S. Bliss, 46, a 23-year veteran of the department.
“Detective Bliss was a valued member of the department,” Sheriff Dave Beth wrote in a statement. “We ask that Detective Bliss’ family and Kenosha Sheriff’s Department members’ privacy be respected at this time.”
Bliss died unexpectedly over the weekend. The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office and the City of Kenosha Police Department determined Tuesday the cause of death was not self-inflicted and no foul play is suspected.
Dalsing, 55, Dubuque’s former police chief for more than a decade, dies

Dubuque, Iowa – The recently retired police chief for the Dubuque Police Department has died, according to a report.
The Dubuque Telegraph-Herald reports that Mark Dalsing, 55, died on Friday. A brief obituary posted by Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory said that he had suffered a sudden illness.
Dalsing began his career with the Dubuque Police Department in 1989, rising to the chief’s position in February 2010. He served in that role until his retirement became effective on September 25, 2021.

The Brookfield Police Department announced the death of emergency telecommunicator Stephanie Kulowiec on Tuesday.
“It is with great sadness that we announce to you the untimely and sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Emergency Telecommunicator Stephanie Kulowiec,” police wrote on social media. “Stephanie, better known as Steph and for her obsession with tie-dye, has served the Town of Brookfield’s Emergency Services for 29 years.”

Jail inmate died of blood clot in leg

San Diego – Jerrell Lacy, 38, of San Diego is the latest person to die in custody locally. The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy today which found the preliminary cause of death to be “pulmonary thromboembolic due to deep venus thrombosis of the lower extremities,” also known as a blood clot in the leg, says Lieutenant Chris Steffen. The manner of death is natural.
The San Diego County Jail inmate was seen yesterday by medical staff due to chest pain and shortness of breath, who arranged for him to be transported to a hospital. While awaiting the ambulance, he went into medical distress.
At least 210 inmates have died in custody since 2006 at San Diego County detention facilities, prompting the state auditor to urge reforms, which the Sheriff’s department has indicated are being implemented.

52-year-old inmate dies in Chatham County Detention Center

Pittsboro, NC — A Siler City man serving time for probation violation and scheduled for release in May was found dead Friday night in the Chatham County Detention Center, apparently of “natural causes.”
Michael Capone, 52, was found in “medical distress” just before 8 p.m. Friday by staff members performing rounds at the detention center.
“Upon further inspection, the inmate was found to be unresponsive with a weak pulse,” the Chatham Sheriff’s Office said in a release on Saturday morning.
“Detention Officers leapt into action to provide emergency care, performing CPR and other life-saving measures alongside FirstHealth EMS for nearly 40 minutes,” the release said. “Unfortunately, their joint attempts to resuscitate the inmate were unsuccessful.”

A 32-Year-Old Wichita County Jail Inmate Dies Suddenly

Matthew Ray Maxwell was housed in a single-occupancy cell after entering Wichita County Jail, Wichita Falls, Texas. He died on April 1, 2022, and the custodial death report (CDR) filed by the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office shows that he was complaining of stomach pain that day. He was then moved to the medical separation unit for observation. While medication was being provided, Mr. Maxwell became unresponsive. He was transported to the United Regional Health Care System in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he was pronounced dead.
B] Police investigate inmate death at Fishkill Correctional Facility

New York State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Fishkill Correctional Facility. Joseph Clarke, 37, of Newburgh, died last Monday morning after receiving emergency medical attention at the prison, according to the New York state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
News 12 reached out to DOCCS after receiving several calls and emails from Clarke’s family and friends with concerns and questions about how he died.
So far, it’s not known how Clarke died, but DOCCS authorities say any death that does not appear to be from natural causes or a known illness is investigated. State police say an autopsy report could take weeks or months.
Officials did not say if Clarke was involved in a fight with inmates or staff.
The father of four was serving a 12-year sentence for criminal possession of a weapon and was reportedly up for release in November.

Bill Forrest, a senior engineer with the city of Galt, died suddenly on April 4, city staff announced at the April 5 meeting of the Galt City Council. Forrest had worked for the Public Works Department for more than 15 years.
“(Forrest) was responsible for all aspects of development on the public works side,” Public Works Director Mike Selling said during the meeting. “He was a stalwart engineer and was a wealth of knowledge for staff, myself included.”

Arts community grieves death of Bend potter and musician Michael Gwinup

Family and friends in the Bend arts community are reeling after the sudden death of well-known local artist and musician 67-year-old Michael Gwinup.
A Bend resident since 1976, Gwinup suffered a heart attack on March 31 at Mt. Bachelor while snowboarding with a friend, his daughter and son-in-law. Medical personnel reached him quickly, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Gwinup is survived by his wife, Michele, their two children, Matthew and Melissa and their spouses, April and Patrick, along with five grandchildren.

Jeff Goldberg died unexpectedly on Friday. We are told he passed away in his sleep.
When you showed up at Goldberg’s deli, Route 58 Delicatessen, he’d be there slicing pastrami and corned beef. He actually wanted to install a microphone by the slicer so he could yell at people when they came in and sat down. But his manager won out on that discussion and refused to let him do that because she thought Jeff Goldberg was too loud already.

Pioneering Newfoundland film producer Paul Pope dies

St. Johns, N.L. — There has been a devastating loss to the film and arts community specifically, and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador broadly, as award-winning film producer Paul Pope — a man largely responsible for growing the film industry in the province — died suddenly Thursday morning, April 14.
A post on his Facebook page said he died peacefully surrounded by his family, who asked for privacy.
He produced or worked on hundreds of films (most recently producing the popular television series, “Hudson and Rex”), was a founding member of the Newfoundland Filmmakers Co-operative (NIFCO) where he served as president for more than 20 years, and he spearheaded the creation of the Film and Media Production Centre at College of the North Atlantic (CNA) which was announced just this week.
For those who knew him, he’s remembered as generous above all else, but also hard-working, creative, intelligent and humorous.

Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée’s sudden death last Christmas at age 58 was due to natural causes, his family disclosed Wednesday.
A final coroner’s report determined that the cause of Vallée’s death was “a fatal cardiac arrhythmia secondary to severe coronary atherosclerosis,” the family said in a statement.
Vallée, the director of acclaimed films like Dallas Buyers Club and Wild and prestige television series such as Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects, died unexpectedly on Dec. 25 at his lakeside cabin outside Quebec City, shocking his collaborators and fans around the world.
Preliminary reports issued late last year weren’t able to establish an exact cause of death, but did rule out “the intervention of another party, a voluntary act, or a known disease.”

Lance Galbraith, a two-time Kelly Cup champion with the Idaho Steelheads who was widely known for his crowd-pleasing antics during his playing days, died early Friday morning in a single-vehicle car crash in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
According to the Ottawa Sun, the crash occurred when his pickup truck hit a culvert close to where he lived. Galbraith died on the scene. He was 42.
“Lance was the heart and soul of our championship teams and a larger-than-life personality and character that touched so many lives within our Steelheads family,” Steelheads president Eric Trapp said in a statement released on the team’s Twitter account. “He was a fan favorite for many years, even after his playing time ended with the Steelheads.”
The details provided in this next article suggest the teacher may have passed out at the wheel, and plowed into the school bus, which had stopped to let some students disembark. There is no suggestion that the victim had been speeding, or drinking, or made some driver’s error, to account for such a fatal crash in the middle of the afternoon.
The school’s “vaccine” mandate, which has only recently been lifted, tells us that that teacher had been jabbed.

Toronto – The community of Alma is in mourning following a deadly school bus collision that took the life of a teacher.
According to OPP West Region, emergency services responded to calls of a collision between a school bus and an SUV at Sideroad 21 and 14th Line, Mapleton, just outside of Alma, around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police confirmed that none of the children were seriously injured during the incident. However, the passenger vehicle driver, a teacher at the school, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peter Sovran, director of the Upper Grand District School Board, tweeted out on April 14, reporting that the victim was an Alma Public School teacher. However, at the time of this article, the identity has yet to be revealed.
OPP Constable Joshua Cunningham told Narcity that the 12 students were being dropped off at their homes at the time of the crash.

The University of Manitoba says one of Canada’s most influential and accomplished Arctic researchers has died.
The school says in a statement that David Barber was best known for his groundbreaking work on snow over sea ice and the application of satellite technologies for their characterization.
It says Barber died Friday following complications from cardiac arrest.

Matias was only 43 years old. There were a few differing reports online about what illness he was fighting, one report says prostrate cancer, that was only diagnosed two months prior, and was in a very advanced stage.
A few other articles online said it was a lung illness he had been battling for the last month and a half of his life.
“After his disease was detected in a very advanced state, his family remained low and in recent days they tried to contact a healing priest because in medical terms there was not much to do anymore.”
He was vaccinated less than 7 months prior. On March 11, 2021 he posted a picture of his vaccine card saying: “One year after the world completely changed today I can say I got vaccinated. Let’s continue to take care of ourselves!”
He passed away October 6, 2021, less than 7 months after is COVID Vaccine. It’s unclear if he had more than the dose he posted on his Verified Facebook post.

He also worked in the south west with stints at Orchard FM and Palm 105.5. More recently he was hosting syndicated programmes and appearing on radio stations all over the world with The Daily Show.
Phil hit the headlines himself in 1998 after being fired from Sun FM for falling asleep during the breakfast show, following a party representing the station the night before. He died unexpectedly on 11th April 2022 and family, friends and colleagues have been paying their respect online.

Father-of-five Ed Matts, 59, died during an early morning swim off West Beach on Monday.
His family have described Mr Matts as someone who was ‘full of energy, enthusiastic and had a love of life’.
The incident saw a major emergency response at the harbour, (Dorset Council image, above), including, police, paramedics, coastguards, RNLI lifeboats, firefighters and two rescue helicopters – as efforts were made to try and save Mr Matts.

Much-loved retired police officer, 61, remembered after sudden death

A retired police officer who spent almost three decades making Beccles and Lowestoft safer has been remembered after his sudden death aged 61.
Stirling Parsk passed away at his home, near Norwich, on March 30.
His career saw him police the London 2012 Olympics, help protect world leaders at the Dublin G8 summit and join the search for murdered five-year-old April Jones.
He spent 29 years in the police force, starting his career in Lowestoft before his first spell in Beccles. He then moved to Halesworth before returning to Beccles, where he spent 20 years on the patch.
Following his retirement, he worked as an urgent specimen porter at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and planned to travel with his wife Wendy when she retires in the coming years.

A woman described as “beautiful, inside and out” died suddenly when she went to bed on Christmas Eve and simply “did not wake up”, her heartbroken partner has said. Stuart Hatton says he has been left devastated after finding Jo Bird, who was fit and healthy and not ill in any way, dead in bed on Christmas Day.
He called an ambulance after trying to resuscitate her but paramedics couldn’t save her. And Mr Hatton, known as Stu, has been left distraught and baffled by Jo’s death as he tries to pick up the pieces. He says he cannot do anything that reminds him of accountant Jo, aged 47, as it is just too painful.
An inquest is set to be held at a later date.

Sylvia Lancaster, the mother of murdered 20-year-old Sophie Lancaster who was attacked for dressing as a goth in 2007, has died suddenly.
An announcement made by the charity set up in Sophie’s name said Dr Lancaster died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning.
“It is with great shock and disbelief that we announce that Sylvia Lancaster has passed away,” the organisation said on social media.
“She died early this morning in Blackburn hospital. She had suffered from ill health for the last couple of years, but her death was sudden and unexpected. Sylvia had such a powerful life force; we cannot imagine a world without her in it.”

The 27-year-old, identified as Patrick F, was found lying at the side of the road in Flaine, France.
It is understood he had been on a week-long break with friends and spent the night of March 30 in the social bar of the Grand Massif alpine sports domain.
He was found unconscious at the side of the road the next morning, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Gendarmes from nearby Scionzier are carrying out enquiries in the area.
A source said: “The deceased’s body was found late in the evening lying by a road nearby.
“Efforts were made to revive him, but he was declared dead at the scene. We are appealing to anybody who might have seen him on the night of March 30 – a Wednesday – to come forward.
“The aim is to try and piece together the circumstances leading up to this tragic death.”
A UK Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who died in France and are in touch with the local authorities.”
Flaine is known as the “big snowy bowl” in skiing circles owing to its abundance of snow in the area during the season.
It comes as another British skier was found unconscious on a slope in the Alps on March 24.
An investigating source said at the time: “Emergency services were alerted at 9.40 am on Sunday morning, but the first team on the scene was unable to resuscitate the man.
“He was alone on the slopes, but further enquiries suggested he was on holiday from England with a friend.”
The tragedies in Meribel-Mottaret, in the Savoie region of France, are the latest in a series of fatalities involving skiers in the French alps.

Richard Moore, who has died suddenly aged 48, was an international bike racer and writer who enhanced the sports media landscape with the foundation of the Cycling Podcast, created with his fellow journalists Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie in 2013.
The Cycling Podcast was born when Moore and Birnie were looking for work at the 2013 Tour de France, having lost a magazine writing gig shortly before it started. The sexagenarian was with his wife in his car when he suddenly felt unwell. He nevertheless managed to park before his wife called for help. Passers-by and an SMUR team tried to revive him, in vain. The man unfortunately died in the street.

First aid was administered on him but when he could not be revived, he was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Owerri where he gave up the ghost. The incident led to the suspension of all activities relating to Easter celebration in the school.
The priest in charge of students formation in the university, Chukwuemeka Iheme, who confirmed the incident said he could “only speak further when authorised to do so”.
A resident of the area, who gave his name as Charles, said it was the second time a student would die in similar circumstances. He said a student had died in the past while taking part in a jugging exercise.

Masebe’s family confirmed the news of his untimely passing on Sunday evening in a statement.
“The Masebe family regrets to announce the sudden and unexpected death of our beloved brother, father and uncle, Mr Thabo Maemo Masebe. The family wishes for privacy and sensitivity during this difficult time,” the family said.
The Gauteng provincial government said it was deeply saddened by Masebe’s passing, describing him as a loyal and committed servant of the people.
Masebe was a multi-skilled communicator with over 20 years of experience in public service and served as a spokesperson to former deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe.

Former striker of Moscow “Dynamo” and the USSR national ice hockey team Sergey Yashin suddenly passed away at the age of 61, according to the club’s website.
Other details of Yashin’s death are not specified.
In 1988, Yashin became an Olympic champion in the USSR national team, after which he was awarded the title of “Honored Master of Sports of the USSR”. Yashin is also a two-time world champion (1986, 1989), USSR champion (1990), eight-time medalist of the national championships. In 1989, he was selected by Edmonton with the 141st pick in the NHL Entry Draft, but did not play a single game in the North American League.
In 2014, Yashin was inducted into the National Hockey Hall of Fame.

In Kamchatka, an athlete who arrived at these competitions from Tatarstan died while passing the route of the Avacha Marathon. The man was 61 years old. He arrived in Kamchatka with a medical permit to participate in competitions. According to the organizers, the certificate was issued to him by a doctor of one of the city polyclinics of Naberezhnye Chelny.
“Valid for health reasons, can participate in ski marathons,” the document says.
Before the start in Kamchatka on the morning of April 17, the organizers checked the man’s documents, which he provided. He didn’t complain about feeling unwell.
The athlete passed about 40 km of the Avacha marathon route when he became ill. Other participants called rescuers, who evacuated the man to the sports complex named after him. Fatyanova in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. An intensive care vehicle was on duty there. Doctors at that time were already powerless to help in any way and pronounced him dead.

Man dies in emergency department after waiting hours at rural hospital

A man has died after waiting more than three hours for admission into an emergency department at a regional hospital in Victoria, as rural doctors warn they are increasingly treating people in corridors and struggling to find intensive care beds for the most critically ill.
An investigation is under way into the death of the 70-year-old man, who went into cardiac arrest and died about 3.30 pm on Monday after waiting 3½ hours for treatment at the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service in East Gippsland.
The Age has been told the patient was taken to the hospital by ambulance and arrived shortly before midday on Monday. He died after suffering a cardiac arrest in the bathroom of the emergency department at 3.30 pm.
A senior health source, who cannot be identified as they were not authorised to speak publicly, told The Age that the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service was facing an “increasingly desperate situation” amid severe staffing shortages and ambulance ramping outside the hospital “is rife and the worst it ever has been”.

Destination Queenstown and Great South staff are reeling from the news their colleague Graham Budd died suddenly on Friday afternoon while walking on Arrowtown’s Chum Track.
Emergency services said they were called to the two-hour track around 4pm where Mr Budd had been walking with a friend.
Crews were unable revive him.

Teen was 3rd person in NZ whose death linked to Pfizer Covid jab

The Ministry of Health announced the death on Monday night. The ministry said the person had myocarditis when they died.
The heart condition – usually caused by a viral infection, including Covid-19 – is a rare side effect of the Pfizer vaccine, with around 30 cases per million vaccinations in New Zealand, according to Medsafe.
The Director-General of Health said on Tuesday the death was “very sad” and “quite sudden”.
Bloomfield said the person hadn’t shown any symptoms of the heart condition before they died.
He said the Covid-19 Vaccine Independent Safety Monitoring Board had worked with pathologists, the coroner, and the teen family to come to its conclusion.
The board concluded that the death was “most likely” vaccine related, although it wasn’t absolutely certain, Bloomfield said.
“The family were very clear that they didn’t want this death … to in any way put people off from being vaccinated or to be used by groups to undermine vaccination efforts in New Zealand.”
The Covid-19 Vaccine Independent Safety Monitoring Board said on Monday the teen had received a dose of the Pfizer vaccine in the weeks before their death.
“The Board considers that the development of myocarditis was possibly due to vaccination with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.”
The Board said the death reported on Monday is “the third death in New Zealand that is considered to be linked to vaccination with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine“.
All three deaths are currently with the coroner to determine the cause of death, the board said.
516 people have died with Covid-19 in New Zealand since the pandemic began.

I’ve been reading these daily, and he was the first in our area that young that “died suddenly”. Beaufort Co. is a HUGE retiree destination.
What’s the population there and how many “suddenly dieds” do you read about every day?
My daughter (22) and 4 of her coworkers (all 5 have been jabbed) recently came down with Covey.
