wasn’t drafted because his birthday was on June 14, his number in the draft lottery was 356, and the highest number drafted from that lottery pool was 195.

Oh…it’s a “system?” After living in my second round of runaway inflation, I had concluded banking in the U.S. was a scam, just not yet prosecuted. Did you also notice that his lottery number in the draft was 330, and the highest number in his lottery pool called for a physical was 215. So since he wasn’t called for a physical, he couldn’t have been given a medical waiver.

I was talking to an old army guy. He asked me what my “disability” was. His was 80 percent, shin splints or some crap. He insisted that I had to have a disability, “because everyone gets one!”
Apparently, I disappointed him, since I never got on the “disability” gravy train.

First Infantry Division April 67-68. I do not have a disability, short of being a slow learner, as I volunteered. I know someone who worked for the VA who urged me to get a disability rating. She said, “It’s easy. I got one for my husband!” No thanks. I can’t criticize crooks if I’m one too!
The “disability” bullshit is little more than a money racket. IMO, if you have a 100% disability you’re incapable of doing anything except eat and breathe. The percentage is relative, depending on someone else’s subjective opinion of your physical fitness.
Spent 26 years as a soldier and DOD contractor. Shot at, rocketed, and mortared like many. Never cared to retire for Sam’s pension and despised the chairborne sponges who did their time, counting their days to retirement. They can fuck off.

Indeed NO PRESIDENT served in Vietnam. “W” was cleverly protected by his connected father and got into an Air Natl Guard unit flying obsolete aircraft, so he would never have to go. Interestingly, Bush the first was a Navy bomber pilot in WW2, shot down and rescued by a U.S. submarine–and he was the last U.S. president to have served in the military. It’s also why he knew when to end the first Gulf War and not venture into Iraq. Unfortunately his idiot son was not so wise.
