The following quote is from yesterday’s Elon Musk article:
“Millions of conservatives, independents, and libertarians recognized this years ago and departed for alternatives that advertised a dedication to free speech and expression online. This resulted in the balkanization of microblogs with tribes retreating to their preferred echo chamber platforms.”
Following is a straight-forward, no-nonsense, and serious question.
Q: Is The Burning Platform an echo chamber …. or, are we reaching people with differing opinions?
THE END
echo chamber sadly
not yet. there’s an in-crowd, sure, that thinks they define it all and that those who disagree are government agents. but there’s still quite a few divergent opinions available.
(looking at the downvote) see?
Trying to provoke violent action while sitting behind a keyboard doing nothing but pestering others is a guaranteed way to:
1. Get yourself accused accordingly, for the obvious
2. Prove yourself a hypocrite and make a general nuisance of yourself
3. Piss people off
So quit your bellyaching.
(laugh) we got trannie perverts parading in front of school kids, and I’m the one trying to provoke violent action?
are you not provoked?
Within the last five minutes, I said (in private conversation) the people responsible for that should be killed. And I said I do not believe God would frown on their being killed; attention to Phineas in the Bible for my meaning.
But that’s not what you advocate for regularly, and it is not what I’m objecting to. As you know.
we can let the readers decide.
I was more specific. I said they should be wood chipped. My semi-lefty friend chuckled. I said I am serious. He stopped chuckling, and my more conservative friends said yep, good idea. Thousands of years of ethical and moral development should not be tossed away in a twenty year span. It is insane.
Of course it is, to a degree. But I think it still has value, because it might reach occasional people looking for answers and straying from their former chambers which don’t feel right to them any more, and it also makes people like me feel less atomized, lonely and sad because they thought that they are stuck in an echo chamber of one (and not just recently, but going on 15 years or more).
So thanks, all of you. You have made life for me better, more than you will ever know. Godspeed.
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
is there anybody out there?
I’m here, waiting for the bombs to start falling.
The Townhall/HotAir/RedState/PJMedia group will no longer support a nonpaying comment board. The Grift.
look at the cesspool that is zerohedge comments and it makes perfect sense
1 rule I love to tell normies is never trust a site without a (mostly uncensored) comment section. They’re afraid of counterpoints.
No it is not.
How dare who?
Some agree and some disagree. Therefore it is not. Point proven.
We make a lot of distinctions without much difference. (echo chamber) but it makes us feel a little better.
Truths can never be echoed enough, no matter how many times it is bounced off the readers, it is still valuable information/truth that they will never get from the MSM.
“Truths can never be echoed enough”
as long as new people are showing up, yes. but the insiders who think they’re the only ones here will call it “ax-grinding”.
rant…..There are 80 THOUSAND people reading here daily, does that sound like enough? They don’t comment, not sure why, but they absorb the banter. How do you know we are not reaching them to counter the MSM indoctrination squad? I think we are getting truth to many out there.
“80 THOUSAND people reading here daily”
if true, hey, that’s great. but how many are bots?
“They don’t comment, not sure why”
they’re not engagers. or they don’t feel competent. or they’re just listeners. or they can’t handle disagreement. or they don’t like being called names and personally attacked. or they just don’t think fast enough to engage in a timely manner. or they’re bots. any or all.
They don’t comment because they have more important things to do than blasting off an opinion unlike myself having to much time on my hands and mostly read and post comments for entertainment value with an occasional biblical insight which I also enjoy doing..
“because they have more important things to do”
if that were true they would seldom be here at all.
and building consensus is important.
I’ve only posted one time but I’m on here daily for news you don’t see at other sites. The comment section is still on point with no one trying to sell work from home crap, or trolls that make other mainstream sites unreadable, or not worth scrolling through trying to find an informative statement. I like the comment section because some people with knowledge in that field will comment occasionally. I’m a news junky since I’m retired and will spend hours researching or reading up so not any one article or comment will pass muster if it’s bullshit or false. Overall, this site is an echo chamber, but it’s informative and when I share articles with people in my sphere, it’s usually from the burning platform. I like American Thinker, but they turned the comment section off. One last comment, I hate coming across misspelled words or bad grammer, it’s like a speed bump to me and distracting, I have to fix it mentally. Overall, the writing here is at another level above most other sites.
“…I hate coming across misspelled words or bad grammer [oh no you didn’t!!!], it’s like a speed bump to me and distracting, I have to fix it mentally. Overall, the writing here is at another level above most other sites…”
The corruption and degradation of written language is a bigger deal than most people make of it. Language and grammar are worthy to be protected — to be conserved.
And by far, the majority of commentators at this site are excellent grammarians, which is exceedingly rare these days and says a great deal about exactly what kinds of people gravitate to this unique (in all the web) website.
Lol, you got me on that…and it must have been a log in the middle of the road for you to come across from someone like minded but still not perfect. (I’m working on it.)
Rant you sound like it’s personal when you emphasize insiders and in crowds. Did you get your feelings hurt?
Sometime a comment is just so erroneous it just can’t be left unchallenged. I am constantly challenged on things I say and I hit back right away. Not because it was challenged but because I want to be sure they believe it and are not just slinging mud.
Sometimes we present a good argument that just needs a little revision and the readers supply alternatives. Half the time it’s accompanied with cursing and insults but it gets done. If it can’t stand up to the fire it’s not worthy of acceptance.
This is not group therapy where someones “share” is sacred and untouchable although we have sent many hipster snowflakes to the Shrink in the past I’m sure.
Too bad rant missed all the good 9/11 shitfests. I think he is pissed off at the flat Earthers, he was happy over the rainbow but we have challenged his belief system. That said I’m glad he is here to challenge us.
Is it possible rant is a bot? Nah……
“…Is it possible rant is a bot?…”
Probably not, but an ‘off’ aromatic aura goes along with that one.
“an ‘off’ aromatic aura goes along with that one”
yep! I ignore the person and try to focus on the ideas. lots of people just hate that ….
You are intentionally missing the point.
You know who else does that as a matter of routine?
Leftists.
everyone. downvote if I appear to be a leftist. upvote if I appear to be anything else.
“Nah ……”
I feel … (sniffle) validated ….
“you sound like it’s personal when you emphasize insiders and in crowds. Did you get your feelings hurt?”
(laugh) hardly. just observing the facts. the ad-hominem attacks illustrate the perspective of the one making them – for them, it’s all personal all the time.
Flea – I used to be concerned with some irate responses to my comments, but if they have a different point of view, then bring it on. We have not seen many personal attacks in quite a while and that is a good thing. About the worst I have seen lately is pointing out someone is acting like a federal inciter boy (FIB)
Prudent is as prudent DUH oes.
“The prudent man sees trouble afar off and takes cover”.
[ how about colonizing the oceans, maybe carve a room out of an iceberg ]
“Truths can never be echoed enough”
Thats good. I like that. Good answer.
An echo chamber, and I’m just fine with that. However there are some here who have excellent persuasive skills to challenge one’s thinking.
That AA is the point. Challenge the thinking of the indoctrinated and if they have courage to step out of the box…..then they are free of the B3rg.
Not to mention the dozens of times I forward articles to fence sitters or print pieces and anonymously post them in the lunch or break room.
Plus, plenty of chit flinging so we have plenty of contentious discourse.
yes yes yes yes yes
Having me and Stucky and GCP in the same room and calling it an echo chamber is a hard sales job.
lol lol lol lol
Fucken brilliant argument, bro !!!!
How do you know Fleabaggs is a ‘bro’??
If fleabaggsis NOT a ‘bro’ …. then that will be as shocking a revelation that Zara was a dude — considering that I flirted with “her” on a regular basis.
Is flea a xi / him / her / non-binary? For fuksakes what pronoun should I use????
Zara wasn’t a dude???? He was a old redneck boy that liked to work on old cars over there in Oregon or somewhere in that area. Hell, I’m old and forget things now.
I did not do a good job phrasing.
Yes, Zara was a dude. But, for many months I thought Zara was a middle aged woman …. maybe because the fucker had an avatar of a nice looking middle aged woman …. and I hit on “her” from time to time …. and he and Admin thought that was some funny shit. I did not.
Ah fun. Misgendering makes an appearance on TBP.
.
You never saw my picture that Yoji posted. How do we know you’re not Punky Brewster?
Nope, I missed that one.
can’t get it to print. My pc skills are limited.
Me 5 years ago at my old bugout camp before my new career as a shut in.
I did not know you were no longer mobile. I’m very sorry to hear that.
That was just my inner whiner showing through. It’s been more blessing than curse. Once again I’m defying their timeline. They gave me six months seven months ago and they gave me 1 year five years ago.
It has allowed me to devote most of my time to research things I didn’t have time for back then. The real world wide flood in Pre-Adamic times. The Bloodlines of the Nobility. Tartaria, a major force and huge empire scrubbed from history recently by the usual suspects and many other things quite relevant to today’s events.
Gosh, I was not aware of all this. Godspeed, my friend. I’m a believer but, faced with what you’ve faced, I’m not sure how I’d handle it. I’m senior myself and in the winter of my years so, one way or another, none of us are getting out of here alive.
It’s no bigee anymore. Every extra month is more time to convince someone of their need for a Saviour not of this earth and not from below.
Bad news is good news if it helps a person seek our Lord’s face.
Will the real Mike Ehrmantraut please stand up!!!
We’ve got that far away look for sure.
Glum.
That guy is ugly. Here is a better doppelganger

Hemingway huh? Flattery will get you everything my dear.
You need a bigger hat.
You are a ruggedly handsome man, flea.
— No, I’m not just saying that.
— No, I am not a homo.
I stepped in front of too many socks full of nickels.
Don’t forget the big dog down under who is always potentially ready to swoop in and tell you why you are fucking wrong.
You mean the Redskin Chief?
And it’s great when that Big Dog occasionally gets it right. 🙂
You misspelled always.
Haven’t seen GCP in a while. Has the rapture happened?
I read many other sites ( this is my favorite). They all trend in one direction in the comments. This site is the most open minded in the allowed posts that I follow. Everyone seeks affirmation of their own thoughts, so, yes to the echo.
Well, I had a differing opinion when I first arrived here! I was a flat out neocon … and I didn’t even know it. That’s true. Admin called me a neocon —- or was it a fucken neocon? —- and I replied that I didn’t even know the meaning of that term (really). I then threatened to come to his house and beat him up. He can verify this if he wants.
Smokey made perhaps the most iconic comment ever on TBP ===> “He should have ducked”. I was either the first or second to respond, and I laid into him with anger and vengeance that was scary, and eventually with the help of many others (some still here) evolved into The Biggest Shitfest Ever on TBP. If Smokey said “he should have ducked” TODAY …. I would truly agree with him.
In other words, I had a strong differing opinion when I first arrived …. and I changed, thanks to many very intelligent people on this site! And it wasn’t just my hawkish stance on wars and shit which changed. Some of my views on prepping, religion, Jewish influence on American politics, and even food choices have changed over the years.
Some hardcore assholes here accuse me of being wishy-washy. Bullshit. When new data comes in that challenges old data, I go with the new data. That’s one of the functions of intelligence.
I’m positive many of YOU have changed opinions also from when you first came here. But, for some strange reason people don’t like to admit that … so they say nothing, and we’ll never know. And that’s their prerogative.
In summary, I think a good case can be made that TBP is NOT an echo chamber.
Well said, Stucky. I must say you reminded me of some things that I’ve changed on, or at least have been open to new information that was provided in links to articles and videos. For example, the “moon landing” and 9/11. The bastards that supported Hitler through corporate funding, etc. So, it is more than just a sounding board.
Stucky- YOU called me the village idiot for saying the things that are widely discussed here now on a daily basis. Bloodline elites, uniparty, voting is useless, freemason/KM control, CONgress/USG is a criminal organization etc.etc. The whole quantum thing in relation to religion. I fell out of the box early in life, I sniff the wind before proceeding, THAT is the lesson to be learned here in this forum. SNIFF the f’n wind before you plunge headlong into the BS.
Let’s not give false impressions. It was all in good fun. I have never disliked you! Well, not more than for one day, anyway.
The point was that I am still preaching the same material today as a decade ago, only now it is accepted and you no longer call me the village idiot and join into the convo with approval. That’s year after year after year of echoes that are now understood as truth. It was worth it for me to keep going.
I know it was in good fun, back then you thought I was a crackpot talking shite until the system showed you different.
Been coming here for @ 10 years or so…don’t often comment, but agree 100% with Stucky’s comments here. I too have changed opinions and it IS the sign of intelligence and critical thought to be able to take new info and form new opinions based on that info. Sadly, many of us in this country are incapable of such things.
arj2820- Stop by again, I like the way you think.
Yep!
Pre-COVID I was a typical Bushie, Fox news “neo con” as well. 3 years ago a friend asked me to check this site out. Had a similar transition to Stucky’s.
Hell, even 6 months ago I thought people who questioned the 9-11 narrative and the validity of Newtown (etc.) were quacks. Now I’m using this site to help red pill others. (I just saw the Robbie Parker video of him laughing his way to the mic, 18 hours after his “daughter died,” and saying “ok, are we ready now? How the FUCK didn’t I see this until today?!)
Amazing bit of video, no?
His little prep job before starting to speak was priceless. Anyone who has taken drama or an acting class should recognize it.
Got a link to that video?
Ben Lurken – I found this
. I never even heard of this guy before just now. So no echo on this at least.
Thanks
LTL above has the better version.
Most excellent. Best one I’ve seen. I’m in the process of red pilling some of my Hospice care givers and I save things like this just for the occasion.
Flea , here is a 2 hour beatdown of the SH hoax
Thanks Lurkster. Does it come with a link to download to my pc?
You will probably need a plugin like VideoDownloadHelper to save it on your PC.
The direct link to the video.

At least in my experience, the trouble is that they won’t accept it. It will be just an odd thing but have no deeper meaning, like that he is obviously acting and therefore the whole shebang stinks to high heaven. Rationalizations will abound and they will go back to parroting the official narrative as if the video had never been seen.
Those who wish to know the truth look for it. Those who don’t, won’t even listen.
BEL- Please continue to comment, you are why we are here.
I remember when you used to get all swoony at gays wedding… too much cake and ice cream, I suppose .
It was ONE gay wedding.
Was I too swoony? I believe I was rather uncomfortable when they kissed. Fucken gross, man.
But they were nice homos. They never flaunted their lifestyle, ever. In fact, they hated their fellow in-your-face homos as much as I do.
Autism here so I felt the changes coming early on about 1983. TBP was the best when it started and still says the stuff I can’t express very well on my own. Being an echo chamber is ok since it is because it attracts like minded readers with a serious problem with what is going on in the world.
Me too, Stucky. TBP has no competition.
“…I’m positive many of YOU have changed opinions also from when you first came here…”
It is true. Now I have a greater appreciation for redheads with freckles, thanks to nkit and his Friday Fail contributions. I also swear even MOAR than I did when I got here, and I think I’ve become a full-fledged White Supremacist, whereas before I was only a moderate racist!!!
THANKS GUYS!!!
(But the flat earth and nukes are fake shit ain’t stickin’.)
Red. When the flat earthies can explain where the lava is stored and ready for use I might take a fresh look at their flimsy evidence again. Not to mention all the water that welled up from the deep when Noah shut up the Ark. That’s a lot of fluid to hide from us. Well diggers must have been some brave Hombres back in the day. Anything beyond 30 feet is a high risk for those living near the thin edges by the ice wall.
I dated a red headed freckled woman and it gave me an appreciation for natural red hair. I am with you on the flat earth and nukes – don’t think I will be changing on those.
The fake nukes thing will be short lived.
Two suns in the sunset will be kind of hard to deny once folks have seen it with what’s left of their eyes!!!
God forbid. But it certainly seems to be on the menu.
Oh, cheer. Our Stucky is the ever-evolving kind. He has stopped jumping up and down like a school girl when getting bombarded with down votes now, which is a good thing.
I used to be a neo-con, too, which is rather embarrassing to admit what a dummy I was.
Yes it’s somewhat of an echo chamber, but still one of the best, if not THE best, sites on the entire web.
I’ve recommended it to numerous people who seem at least partially awake and becoming aware of what’s happening in the world, and many of them appreciate it and become followers.
Not quite an echo-chamber but rather a forum for alert persons to confirm and verify that their perceptions about the world and its bizarre, violent, idiotic and demonic aspects are more or less correct.
And the sharing of information that reinforces the pragmatic-objectivist world view.
Not changing too many minds tho’… that’s because we all know just how totally fucked up the shit-show is now and only going to get worse moving into the future.
How the hell should we individual readers know. You present a wide variety of views and you have entertainment that should reach younger viewers. You should have the stats — how many hits are you getting on your variety of articles and fun things? I see you on Whatfinger, but what other aggregators are you on?
I’m a registered Democrat for context. Yes, dangerous echo chamber, and reminds me why I vote.
Why do you vote?
I thought you voted because you liked high gas prices.
That has to be one of our own trolling. 🙂
Yep. I believe to prove a point.
Biden’s win was squiggly…..
HAHA! That is rich! As if voting matters.
If you don’t clap, Tink will die.
It starts early .
“why I vote”
you don’t need to. dominion votes for you.
Boy is that ever the most butt-filled context imaginable.
===
“I’m a registered Democrat for context.”
We are a limited echo-chamber. We tend to agree on lots of things; however, we do disagree on several things as well and with rabid dedication.
I tend to avoid the holy roller diatribes as well as I find it nonsensical for the most part, but I blame that on growing up in a family with Jehobo’s Witnesses, Roman-Catholic hypocrites and Lutheran ding-dongs. Dont get me started on the hippies and Baptists in far family. Nor the Christianized sell-outs on the Yuma rez.
I accepted being the black sheep dog in the family and tend to be fairly isolated in family and friends as I get worn out hearing the same shit all the time and most people make me want to find a cave in a mountainside and not interact with another human ever again.
That being said, I think, overall, that we all have differing opinions with some common ground, but are all fairly independent in mindset and belief structures. It is a sign of a healthy mind to entertain opposing thought as it can reinforce or weaken a current position or line of thought or closely held belief.
I have seen some pretty fierce disagreements in threads here over the years. Twatter and shitbook this is not.
ZFG, out.
P.S. eat a bag of dicks if you dont like being challenged by rational, well-articulated opposing views. Which is why I suspect the intellectually weak do not last long here or choose to read-only. Danke bye.
“if you dont like being challenged by rational, well-articulated opposing views”
well very few actually like it. most people don’t seek the truth, but rather what suits them. they then internalize those views, and experience disagreement as personal attack on themselves personally – that is why ad-hominem is so often their primary, and sometimes sole, response.
True but ad-hominem is my favorite spice. We have to be tough with MyG about.
He hasn’t met the Redhead yet.
Well, when someone goes to super natural stuff like God and what not, “truth” is hardly a bit more than hallucination and wishful thinking.
When someone stoops to ad hominem attacks, it means they have no cogent response to your hypothesis.
TN- I’ll be in TN next week, I saw 103 for one of the days I’ll be there, I’m sweating already.
Depends on who you are up against, if it’s the commenters who use intimidation to shield their counter….all’s fair.
“it means they have no cogent response”
no, it means that from their point of view – “me” – the only logical and cogent response is an ad-hominem attack. for them, the other person is the entire and sole problem to be addressed. “reject the foreign god!”
P.S. eat a bag of dicks if you dont like being challenged
Thats your example of a rational well-articulated opposing view? I consider that comment intellectually weak.
THAT’S not an example of a well-articulated opposing view. That was a declarative statement towards others to consume dicks in a bag if they did not like to be challenged.
I consider intellectual weakness to be several things. One of which is the inability to use proper punctuation in a conjuction. However, as I do type from a government tracking device quite often it is forgiven as an autocowreck.
If you care to expound upon how that post-script statement detracted from the post I would greatly appreciate it.
ZFG, out.
P.S. Eat a bag of dicks. The upvote was me.
Frankly, I upvoted your original comment just BECAUSE of the P.S.
!!!
It distracted from and contraDICted the post.
Of course, a case can also be make that this joint IS an echo chamber.
Just try saying something not accepted here as gospel truth;
— try a post saying something positive about the state of Israel
— or, that you like Trump
— or, don’t like Trump
— or ANYTHING about Christianity that strays from the beaten path
— or that you believe voting matters
— or that starfcker is a wise investor by dumping cash on Tesla stock
— or that “falling at freefall speed in its own footprint” it bullshit conspiracy
— or that Russia is losing the war, and not adding the /s tag
And then just watch the thumbs down rise faster than the cost of gas, you being called a dumfuk moran and other colorful metaphors, and even some butterball snowflakes demanding Admin remove your posting privileges!!
Oh yeah … definitely some Echo Chamber proclivities here.
“ANYTHING about Christianity that strays from the beaten path”
Revelation already happened in 70AD when Rome destroyed the temple. We’re living in Christ’s 1,000 year reign. There won’t be a one world government, AntiChrist or mark of the beast.
“We’re living in Christ’s 1,000 year reign”
for almost 2000 years?
It’s not literal. It’s used a lot in the bible to signify a long time period. God ended his covenant with Israel when he allowed the Romans to destroy it and kill anyone who hadn’t fled. That was the whole point of Revelation (and the main point of the Bible) – the transition of his promise of eternal life with him from his chosen people to the people who accepted Jesus as the Messiah.
Matthew 24:34 “Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.”
well revelation says that “one third of all the life in the ocean died” and “the sea turned to blood” and “fire came down from heaven” and other such, which clearly didn’t happen yet. if it’s not literal then there’s no telling what any of it means and there’s no point in reading it except for the feelz.
IMO it’s written in apocolyptic metaphors that would’ve been used at that time and understood by the intended audience (Hebrews still sticking to the old way of doing things). I’m open to being wrong, but the Preterist view makes more sense than anything I’ve ever heard. Matthew 24:34 clearly states it would happen within that generation.
Ken Gentry has a few good books on it and some articles here:
https://postmillennialworldview.com
In Revelation 13:1–2 we are introduced to the beast from the sea who will play a prominent role in Revelation from this point forward: “I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names. And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority.”
We must understand the “first beast” in Rev 13 both generically and individually. This is not unusual in Scripture: Christ’s body is generic (the church) and specific (Jesus); Adam is generic (man) and specific (Adam). Generically the “beast” is Rome; individually it is Nero Caesar, the head of the Roman Empire of the day.
The rationale for the generic identity is as follows. The book’s time frame supports the identification (see earlier article; cp. Rev 1:1, 3). The beast rises from the sea, which suggests the Italian peninsula where Rome is located and when considered from the vantage of either Patmos or Israel (across the Mediterranean Sea). It has “seven heads” (Rev 13:1; 17:3) that are “seven mountains” (Rev 17:8, 9); Rome is famous for its “Seven Hills.” The beast’s number is an exercise in Hebrew gematria: converting letters into numbers. An ancient Hebrew spelling of Nero Caesar perfectly fits the value: “Nrwn Qsr” (Rev 13:18): n [50] r [200] w [6] n [50] q [100] s [60] r [200].

I’ll look it up. Is he a dispensationalist?
“Matthew 24:34 clearly states it would happen within that generation”
agreed. but it clearly hasn’t happened, either in its own terms or in revelation’s terms. saying “well the text is just rhetorical” renders the whole subject moot and irrelevant.
I’d disagree there and say it already did happen. There are historical accounts by historians that are referenced outside of Christianity referring to the sky darkening and other insane astronomical events around that time. I already gave a damn good hypothesis on the meaning of 666 and connecting it to Nero along with the 7 heads of the beast and it arising from the sea.
Does Noah’s flood have to be the literal entire world or could it possibly be referring to the known world of God’s chosen people at that time?
Literalism will eventually render Christianity as a relic.
Or, do you think that if yet another 2000 years passes without Jesus having returned that billions will still believe?
Literalism always boils things down to ONE TRUTH …..MY truth! “And God damn you to hell, heretic, if you do not believe in MY literalism!”.
Literalism is literally divisive.
Most flavors of Early Christianity … there we quite a few flavors, maybe even as many as 31 …. were NOT literalists.
Or, do you take Paul’s comment “Christ in you” as literally true? That there is a literal being named Christ that is literally inside your literal body? Isn’t that just silly? Paul was no literalist.
There are better more profitable ways to look at scripture.
There are both literal and allegorical verses in the Bible. It’s a lot more of the latter in prophecy passages. You have to think about historical context and literary style of the age more so in those than the literal ‘do not murder’.
To me ‘Christ is in you’ is speaking to the Holy Spirit guiding your inner conscious. Now whether that is literal or metaphorical, I’ll leave to the artistic non engineer brains among us.
“There are both literal and allegorical verses in the Bible”
you mean you pick and choose what to “believe” and what to dismiss.
like everybody always has.
“do you think that if yet another 2000 years passes without Jesus having returned that billions will still believe?”
yes. because people believe, not what they think is true, but rather what suits them …
“There are better more profitable ways to look at scripture”
… or as you say, what profits them.
New Math
nope
I believe in Jesus Christ and if what you say is true, He’s not doing a very good job. Maybe he should resign.
Jesus is long resigned, Satan is in charge now.
Really? How bad is life compared to the persecution of Christians under Rome? That aside, how often do you have to worry about being sold into slavery, your wife and kids raped and sold into slavery and ultimate torture?
That’s not to say lesser demons aren’t still running amok. This life is still a test.
The people running the show are evil and pursuing it vehemently. There’s no doubt about that. I’m just saying ultimately it won’t work out. This is an age of bringing people closer to Christ to convert as many as possible before judgement dday.
“try a post saying something positive about the state of Israel”
ok. their leaders look after their own people really well.
at everyone else’s expense of course, but they do.
You’re pushing your luck … but we’ll allow it for now …
😉
Well except for Pfizering their public like a fire sale on Zikron B.
Ezzakkkly.
Can’t you yell “anything”into an echo chamber?…..pffft! Inappropriate metaphor…..
Mis-metaphor?!?…..
“And then just watch the thumbs down rise faster than the cost of gas”
think of it as a challenge.
not as a challenge to your view. I once got 360 downvotes and 0 upvotes for a single post (not here). but there was not one single rational response to what I said. not a single one. just ad hominem fleer and scorn. it’s impossible to take that seriously.
instead, take it as a challenge to your ability to communicate. and not just immediately, but long term. when you present a new idea, it can take time, sometimes a very long time, for people to even hear it, let alone comprehend it, and then even longer to respond intelligently.
Damn, I would like to see that post, if you don’t mind.
sorry, a while ago and I didn’t save it. don’t even remember what it was about, wish I did. it wasn’t all that profound – least I didn’t think it was.
Why not? People should be allowed to express their views and opinions on the matter. If your bullshit ended up with a negative reaction, then it’s just the fact of the matter. Or would you rather be ignored or lied to when people think differently than you? Why are you even here?
Think it’s really that bad check out Genesis 19:1-11 or the book of Job.
Some sites it’s a badge of honor. Anything remotely political on Reddit with down votes is usually true lol
Honestly, fuck people with different opinions. It used to be a good thing. Now those with the different opinions are part of the reason we are in the mess we are. Plus, once someone with a different opinion (on mainstream topics anyway) get involved, it turns into more division and arguments. I am tired of it. I prefer to be here where most of us are on the same page with things, yet approaches may be different that we can learn from.
AMERICA is a singular ideal…….
“Honestly, fuck people with different opinions.”
Hey, as long as you have an open mind about it…….
An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.
-Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
“fuck people with different opinions”
(laughing)
but be warned. grid down, in your little circle of survivalists/preppers, there’s going to be a lot of people with just this attitude. and with no law or police around, they’re going to go full bloom and try to eliminate everyone who doesn’t think just like they do – and they’re going to feel completely holy and righteous about shooting all of the remaining “evil people”.
Most folks can’t handle the truths that are shared here. If they dare, they won’t find most of these truths anywhere else. Does anyone honestly think that stuff like this could be shared on too many other sites? And what would be the point of censoring if it means the AGENDA doesn’t get the criticism it deserves?
Kind of a silly question isn’t it?
It’s like asking if there is any truth to the rumor that Peter Luger’s serves meat.
We all speak English, so cross off 3/4 of humanity. We’re literate, check off half of the remainder. Most of the people who care about the topics posted here are adults, remove another half of whatever is left. Now subtract anyone who is easily offended by ideas that deviate from the Narrative, etc., etc.
In a way you are hearing a very narrow range of reflection. The progressives seem to eschew it- more because they can’t gain a reasonable foothold intellectually. We’re the boys JV soccer team versus their Women’s Olympic squad.
I think echo chamber infers that people only want to hear their own opinons reflected back when the truth is that most of the people here are extremely well versed in the contrarian views of the status quo, if not having held most of them during their lifetimes for one reason or another. I have been here long enough to have seen numerous posters change their viewpoints on a wide variety of subjects, myself included so it serves more as a sounding board where you are fairly free to articulate your position while enough people respond with contrary opinions to test whether or not their opinions hold up under scrutiny.
Places like Little Green Footballs, ZH, or any of the mainstream progressive sites that routinely ban people for commenting because of words or ideas that bother them are a much better example of an echo chamber.
I see this place as a laboratory for ideation.
Is it really? I recall several teachers saying that “There’s no such thing as a dumb question.” I guess I need to hunt them down and kill them.
You ask about 80% rhetorical questions and 10% legitimate inquiries. The other 10% I can never make heads or tails of.
This falls in the first category. It’s kinda Lucille if you catch my drift.
I will start asking easier questions. Tomorrow — just to prepare you — I will ask;
—Q1. What is your favorite color?
— Q2. Which farm animals are easiest to raise?
Leave it to you to make me laugh when I’m convinced that it can’t be done.
“I see this place as a laboratory for ideation.”
And wasn’t that what our Founders were about? I love reading their arguments & debates back then. How do we get back to that in the broader arena? Not sure we can on this side of the 4th Turning.
Side note: This is why we need homes with large front porches. This is why we need pubs. This is why we should sup together.
Someone on another blog stole one of my ideations just yesterday. 🙂 There is definite idea, “ism” farming here.
But the majority of commentators here are sowing ideas more than reaping them.
That may be what makes the site as valuable as it is.
I never thought about that big old southern front porch thing before.
Dead on.
One reason I come here, nuggets like finding out about another interesting website, like little green footballs. Never heard about it, and now I have something to explore when I’m done with the burning platform today.
We pretty much preach to the choir here. It is many times, as evident by many comments on posts, a sounding board for each other and a place to rant and get out frustrations about the rapid decline of what was once a great country.
And, a place to warn each other (through articles, videos, blogs, etc.) about things we may have missed on our own.
After reading the comments …. especially the one by Hardscrabble …. I wish I would have included a second question ….
Q2: Is there anything wrong with being an echo chamber?
So, let’s do a quick poll.
— UP vote = There’s nothing wrong with TBP being an echo chamber.
— DOWN vote = Being an echo chamber is a bad thing
Me?
If I could vote on my own post, I would vote UP.
What is church but an echo chamber? That is NOT a criticism. It is a fact. If you’re a Baptist, will you go to a Catholic Church? Of course not. We want to associate and congregate with people who are just like us …whether that’s a church, your gun club, or a web site.
Maybe HF is correct ….it was a silly question.
I don’t agree with HF, I wouldn’t waste time here if it were moderated and truth was not on the table. I feel it is a duty to lay things out for discussion. Challenge the official narrative even if you take a beating, with time you WILL get through.
Should we go back to swapping recipes like the old days, Stucky has a mean goulash recipe ? He got me hooked on marzipan.
I would like to see the names alongside the votes up or down.
nah, keep it anonymous. if people can’t speak freely then they can at least vote freely.
down. if all you want to hear is your own views, you might as well talk to the mirror.
(‘course, some people seem to think they ARE talking to a mirror, and freak out if the mirror talks back ….)
Obviously down.
A true echo chamber only allows same or very similar views, whatever the purported reasons for such.
Let our voices echo, let our whispers become thunder, let’s thunder strike down the powers that be.
I don’t care what other people think and other people shouldn’t care what I think. I read articles here because they illuminate perspectives I don’t see often enough. I also have little time to spare, so I have pruned my info sources down to the ten best aggregators for different points of view. This is one.
Ten!
Well I wouldn’t be able to find ten half-way acceptable aggregators anymore, if my dear life depended on it.
“…I don’t care what other people think…”
I do. I care about what reasonable and intelligent folks who like to read, think about various topics.
I also care what the leftist demons think because I like to keep tabs on the enemy run amok in this world.
A Mosaic of Perspective is priceless.
I see a web platform dedicated to the presentation of evidence, no matter the subject in question. That doesn’t sound like an echo chamber to me.
Lock her up!
Lock her up!
Lock her up!
Lock her up!
Considering you don’t have leftists spamming the site with their propaganda, it’s not reaching anyone who needs to hear it.
But, that doesn’t mean the site is not needed.
I think there’s enough differing opinions on here to keep it interesting, for me
What make’s the TBP unique is the way admin runs it. It’s about as open of a forum as I’ve seen since the days of fight club on ZH . Say what you think, say what you want with no filters. Echo chamber or not, the TBP is place to vent, have fun, and express your point of view. Let’s pony up and keep it that way.
Admin, it’s a great forum you created. Thanks
When the Ukraine subject pops up in conversation, I tell friends and family that I’m on Russia’s side and I hope they wipe out the communists there.
I get incredulous looks when I state my position.
I ask them if they know any Russian or Soviet history, the events in 1991, the Minsk Accords, Maidan in 2014, etc
.. and none of them do.
I tell them to research these things and to surf on over to the Burning Platform for uncensored news on world events and commentary from people that may have actually warmed a seat in a civics classroom in their lifetimes and that they too can express their opinions here without fear of banishment. (Looking at you, ZH Tylers)
I think a good third of the posters here are complete and utter idiots. They probably think the same of me.
I would say it is probably 1/3 doing the echo chamber thing, 1/3 window licking morans and 1/3 with some sense and understanding.
Ya but you could be just about anybody on any given post.
Do the words matter? Does the value of what is written depend on who wrote it?
See. I can even be you.
(not by Boogieman, just making a point for the idiots that complain, “You are an anonymous coward)
My view is me, sort of. I don’t care what others think, it’s none of my business. They can decide to hate me or not, but I am’s what I am’s and you can see my post coming like it or not. How can I be friends with Anonymous when he remains incognito?
“How can I be friends with Anonymous when he remains incognito?”
because what’s relevant is the ideas, not the personalities.
Ah, so your Anonymous. Got it, I’m cool with that.
No. I am.
Am I the only one who finds this irritating?
Taking a screen name is a courtesy to everyone else on the board. It fosters order. It mitigates confusion.
If you actually lock it down, yes.
Your right Red River D, I will repent and use some common sense. I can be such an asshole sometimes.
No I’m ran t 7- Hitler was a gay cuckold! That had Jewish roots and liked little boys.
I’m with ran t 7 on that one
I’m surrounded by a Jerkoff.
I am one, I am many, I am legion. Echos in darkness, whispers from the void. I can be anybody.
So, like 50:50 then?
Most of the complete and utter idiots post as Anonymous.
Nah. Maybe a third morons. But the rest are pretty switched on.
I do not agree with everything that is posted on this site and do not look at it as an echo chamber, more a source of additional information to add to my overall attempt at understanding what the hell is going on. Incidentally, I live in the UK and sometimes laugh at how the UK is portrayed. You could do with a “letter from the UK”.
Saturday morning Austrian Peter gives us the UK update and mid week, he posts his friend Gerry’s Boom financial report that has a UK/European slant.
Although many blogs and websites do now seem to attract only those largely subscribing to their general overall worldviews (TBP included), I think “Echo chamber” is a bit harsh. Most have their own Overton windows that are generally understood by the regulars, and within those ranges of “acceptable” opinion, the debates can still be lively.
Echo chamber? To some degree, yes.
Personally, I’ve learned a shit ton from this blog. Does it have value? HELL yeah, it does. What I’ve learned about Covid alone, is worth every second I’ve spent here. Lots of freedom loving people are going to agree on quite a bit so, inevitably we’re going to seem like an echo chamber.
There’s been tons of shitfests over disagreements. Lots of lurkers who learn from these comments. Invaluable, imo.
One thing I would suggest to everyone here is SPEEK UP. Don’t worry about asking a dumb question (I’ve certainly done a lot of that over the years). Speak out. We used to have quite a few people who would take the opposite side of an argument simply to keep others honest and curious.
Well, the cave is the cave (the Platorifice thing). The cave echoes & reverbs & all are inside it. But how a who is inside varies.
Variation is fated, or predetermined, by the kaleidoscope stopping @conception. That’s when each is “reached.”
After that, nobody is reached. Cave walls might be slate, but they ain’t blank.
And the distribution gets more & more lopsided over time as regression (“progressivism”) selection (to the mean) pressure stacks the decks with free piled higher & higher sandwich lunches.
“Opinions” are smalltalk-uselessly relevant only to things that don’t matter.
Applying-supplanting irrelevant opinions to the priniciples is immoral relativism, & is the slacker-spielunker selection pressure that begets majorities that clamor for the camp of the saints cave – & so for the necessarily resulting regular cave-ins, too.
Cave cell apoptosis goes the weasels is built in, & he looks like Charlie Bronson, doling out the saber-toothed deathwish.
But the smilodon godfather can’t keep up, can’t make enough irrefusable offers, & so the cut ‘em down markdown process regularly goes industrial-wholesale, begets “resets.”
And these days come the AI smilodons outta shit-for-brains outfits like Boston Die•namics. Toto the police dog-pitbull ain’t in “the nam” anymore. That robocop’s right around the corner. Every corner of the urban-suburban-exurban jungle.
Who is the real predator, Pogo? The one John Connor went back to the future to save possumanity from? Anyone? Anyone? The Ferrari-wrecking Ferris Bueller Sigh-Borg/”economist” asks….
Rush to judgement? What judgement? Projection ain’t judgement. Inanimate projectiles ain’t either.
Agreeing on reasonable argumentative standpoints is not an “echo chamber.”
To me, this is the last comment section of a blog that I know where every question can be asked (remember the bon-mot about how to find out who rules you), and every weirdest theory presented -if you can withstand the occasional shitstorm- and sometimes you get insightful responses.
“occasional”?
Look no further than the opinions of Trump as the flagbearer going forward. The answer is no.
No regarding this being an echo chamber, not about Trump.
Communicating with idiots is pointless. The best you can accomplish with stupid is to incessantly poke it with a sharp stick until it goes goes into permanent hiding. Tribe up or die.
Tee up ain’t immortality. Death motivates to attract way more than it dissuades.
What are you trying to say, bedwetter?
I “said” it.
I like the old incandescent synapses better. Who doesn’t like the best, most? These new, & “essentialized” LED synapses just don’t flash, light up, the scenes nearly as well.
Maybe another in your tribe can illuminate whatever it is that is evading your comprehension, get it through your bedsitter cover, before ya’ll get relocated to the res•emetary?
[Late Lament / Resolvement]
Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day’s useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right,
And which is an illusion.
Scale seems off. Giant hand reaches in, pours the red vino veritas, but alas, grey plastic.
“Communicating with idiots is pointless”
for most people, “idiot” == “anyone who disagrees with me” …
“tribe up”
… and the tribes are going to be FULL of such people. it’ll be “tribe up AND die”.
“If we do not hang together we shall surely hang separately.”
Differential meanings aside, hanged is hanged.
Solo mio…maybe add a spotter, right Carlos? (via seance: he be dead, too.)
Diversity be your strength… bless your sweet innocent heart.
You’re stronger alone ran turd.
that’s exactly what these guys think – that they’ll be better off after shooting “the idiots” – that is, anyone who disagrees with them. and that thought will grow stronger as their circle of acquaintances shrinks, until finally they are alone in the solitude they seek. “free at last, free at last.”
TBP is the only place left where people are welcome to question everything, and receive actual answers instead of invective. The redoubt of reason.
Moon landing question: The government lies about everything, but how did the reflectors on the moon get there? There are reflectors that have been there since the apollo missions that we can hit with a laser and get a reflection to measure the distance to the surface of the moon. Drone and robot tech of the 60s was not capable of setting up the reflectors that are still there and can be used today.
A: Cheese is naturally reflective to lasers.
Yea, and how could the astronaut get out of the moon with just “that” thing? And why there are no more moon landing after that?
It is NOT an echo chamber. How soon we forget all the SFs about religion, the bible,(is that redundant?) 9/11, the moon landing, and my personal favorite, flat earth among many others. Yes there may be a lot of like minded people on here but that is to be somewhat expected. I miss the old days when admin, Llpoh , Stuck, HSF and a few others would challenge a lot of peoples views. Maybe more echoing now but still some interesting discussions imo. Yes it would be a problem, if I want an echo chamber I will go to some of the other supposed “conservative” site where comments are “moderated” So down vote for me.
The Right: 2 +2 = 4. We all agree.
The Left: You’re in an echo chamber!!!
“2 +2 = 4. We all agree.”
about math, sure. beyond that it gets a little contentious ….
ran turd… lemme’ guess.. . Lolbertarian ….muh free market is muh savior… reeeee
We need echo chambers. I’m not *allowed* to express non-institutional, libertarian/conservative, contrarian views anywhere else. At work I would get fired, in family gatherings it gets me disinvited, and on most sites it gets me banned. They tried to fire me for not taking fake medicine. They forced my autistic kid to lose services for TWO years over a fake (overblown) virus and its accompanying lockdowns.
Fuck Everyone Else. Give me the echo chamber.
Echo chamber? Perhaps, but people read what they like to read; it has always been so. My father, my grandfather too, bought and read only one or two daily newspapers their entire lives. They weren’t interested in the viewpoints of those they didn’t politically agree with, and neither am I. I visit perhaps thirty websites / blogs daily, and not one of those is a main-stream / alphabet-soup media outlet.
I could second that affidavit if necessary. Haha!
I don’t actually read most of the articles as they are FROM the echo chamber, especially the economy/finance ones (pure propaganda). I just check out the headlines and sometimes skim. The best articles are from writers here, the rest are from alt mainstream.
However I do read some and usually the comments add to them.
I get hammered in the comment section periodically, so there are some wrong opinions here as well as mine. 😁
Stucky- Does this QOTD have anything to do with Uncola’s last article?
No.
Of course it is. You can’t talk about reality on mainstream social media. Especially in Canuckistan. lol
Following is a straight-forward, no-nonsense, and serious question.
I dont believe it.
Only a minute fraction of readers even comment and most an echo. The Admin might be able to answer that question. He post a decent variety of viewpoints and has all the traffic data on who’s reading. So what I’m saying is: How the fuc am I supposed to know.
It is a pseudo-serious, moronic question to begin with. But what do you expect from an idiot who makes “a strong case” for Covid vaccines?
“Echo chamber” is a pejorative leftists use. It means nothing to sane people.
What we have here at TBP is a place where we like minded people
can know we aren’t on an island. We also know the “conspiracy theories” are
what is being perpetrated on us, and aren’t fooled.
ohhhh … ahhhh …. the faggot Nazi from Germany magically appears to spread his dreck!!
