Ukraine Can Retake Crimea By Next Summer, Former Top US Commander Says

Via ZeroHedge

A top US general, now retired, has said he believes that Ukrainian forces can retake the Crimean Peninsula by next summer. Ben Hodges is the former commanding general of the United States Army Europe, and he’s predicting that “Crimea will be free by summer.”

He told German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in statements published over the weekend, “When I look at the situation, I see that the situation of the Russians is getting worse with every week.” Hodges went on to explain that Ukraine’s military is likely to keep this momentum given “far superior” logistics and motivation to fight.

“They say war is a test of will and logistics – and on both counts Ukraine is far superior,” Hodges told the German publication. “The Russians have to lose [the war]; otherwise, they’ll try again in two or three years.”

Right: then Commander of US Army-Europe Ben Hodges, now retired, DOD image.

He said the Kremlin is betting big on its “one hope” that the West and NATO countries will lose resolve in their military support for Ukraine.

The ex-top Army commander for Europe also said he expects to see more sabotage attacks against Russian assets and crucial logistics and resource hubs, such as with the recent bombings against the Kerch Strait Bridge and the Nord Stream pipelines:

“So they are doing everything they can to prolong the war and spread fear and insecurity in the West. Any means will do: The young men who are now being conscripted as cannon fodder, as well as attacks on infrastructure in the West,” Hodges told FAZ.

“I believe that we will therefore see more such acts of sabotage and attacks, or at least attempts, in the coming weeks and months.”

This comes as there’s been stepped up cross-border shelling and missile attacks against the Russian city of Belgorod, which lies just north of the Ukrainian border not far from the major Ukraine city of Kherson.

But despite much of the past month witnessing headline after headline declare rapid advances of Ukrainian forces against the Russians in the east, the Kremlin on Sunday has announced significant new successes:

Russia’s defense ministry says its forces repelled efforts by Ukrainian troops to advance in the Donetsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, inflicting what it described as significant losses against the enemy.

A ministry spokesperson said that “during fierce fighting, units of the Russian army held the positions they held, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.”

Regarding speculation that Ukraine could take the fight directly to Crimea, it remains that Russia’s military likely still has vast untapped manpower, as Putin’s partial mobilization is still underway. It also remains that Putin has still not declared a full and formal ‘state of war’. But this would likely be the case if there was any serious effort on the part of Kiev forces to invade Crimea.

Hodges is just another glaring example of our incompetent leadership, current and former, and why our forces do not stand a chance against Russia. Russia has tried everything it can since 2014 and before to settle this proxy (US) war and to no avail. If our criminally insane and stupid leadership keeps pushing Putin, then truly, “Hell will come to Breakfast”. Our depleted and largely ineffective weaponry and our meager capacity to manufacture more of the same will bite the administration in the butt in a lethal way. Russia has for the past 20 years, invested in hypersonic offensive and defensive missile technology and delivery capabilities that can take out anything we throw at them. Our carrier groups are sitting ducks. Oh, and guess where we’ve been spending our money? The level of stupid in our “woke” military is astounding. Just wait until the democrat energy policy’s effect the military’s ability to move. Do they think they can maneuver on solar cells? Windmills? It’s just a mater of time before we become just another third world hell hole. That’s all that the demon party can and has created in its entire existence. Anyone that votes democrat is our enemy and will be eliminated when SHTF.

According to this former top general, Ukraine is better at literally everything. Well, let’s see how good they are at making it through a cold winter with shortages of fuel, electricity, cold weather gear, etc.

Hey Ben, why are you so fat?

His CV shows that it took him 21 years to make full-bird colonel. 21 years. His wiki picture looks like he was promoted due to make-a-wish.

And he lost both theaters he served in.

Sounds like he knows what’s what.

Quite excellent.

Unfortunately those who fell for all the other lies are self deluded morons. They will tell you they never fell for any of those lies as they suck down this latest one. And they will proclaim they were not fooled by this one as they eagerly parrot the next set of lies.

Their revisionist “reality” prevents them from ever understanding. Only those who can accept that they have made a mistake can learn from them. Those people are extremely rare.

There is a lot of gaslighting going on about Ukraine’s successes in the field and Russia’s declining military capabilities. Not sure what the purpose of this is, except to justify even more money and aid thrown into the black hole of Ukraine. With 200K+ troops amassing on the Russian side, perhaps the west is panicking, and needs to justify further actions. That or perhaps even after Ukraine is defeated, the west will claim victory and try to get their respective populations to believe their propaganda once again.

It takes time to train and equip mobilized reserves.
A Russian “retreat” could well be a withdrawal to solidify current gains before a larger Phase 2 attack attempts to knock out Zelensky’s government. Not so sure about the tactical military aspect of the war, but Russia definitely seems to be winning strategically and coming out ahead financially, despite what the news propaganda outlets say.

If you still need proof that our military is led by downright morons, take General Hodges, please. Just as the Russians are gearing up to eliminate the Ukrainian ulcer once and for all (as they see it), this nincompoop suggests that the hapless Ukies are going to retake Crimea. Leaving aside the undisputed fact that Crimea is historically a part of Russia and was never by any definition part of Ukraine until in the 1950’s the Soviets casually tossed it in, the Ukraine army has no chance of mounting the kind of combined arms, air-sea-land attack that would be required to throw the Russians out. The twaddle spewing out of Western mouthpieces has become so absurd that it seems like they are engaged in a SNL comedy routine.

The General’s statement is one of many being floated to move the Overton Window towards public embrace of escalation to WW3. Notice he says (or was paid to say), “RUSSIANS HAVE TO LOSE, OR THEY WILL TRY AGAIN IN A FEW YEARS.”

Well gosh, I guess we just better jump in there and proactively save the world for mom and apple pie. Here, take my kids and more of my earnings for this imperial priority, Gen. Moloch. /s

“This comes as there’s been stepped up cross-border shelling and missile attacks against the Russian city of Belgorod, …”

Belgorod is a city of just shy of 400,000 people. It’s economy consists primarily of Iron Reductions, Semi-Finished Iron, Iron Ore, Steel Bars, Margarine, Unpackaged Medicaments, Raw Zinc and Palm Oil.

The Russian military presence in the Belograd oblast is the 26th smallest in Russia. it consists of the 237th Tank Regiment, 752nd Guards Motor Rifle, and 252nd Motor Rifle Regiment, and 84th Reconnaissance Battalion. In other words, relatively small potatoes in terms of military value.

Even so, the Ukienazis are not shelling these military bases. They are lobbing artillery and missiles solely into CIVILIAN areas. So, let me ask you … where is our whorefuk MSM??? Why aren’t they condemning the slaughter of civilians?? Don’t RLM (Russian Lives Matter)??? Ummm, it’s a rhetorical question.

Looks like a pretty city.

The Crimea belongs to Russia and has belong for almost 300 years. It was purchased by Russia from the Ottoman Empire, furthermore Crimea was “leased” to the Warsaw Pact Country of Ukraine by the old Soviet Union back in 1956 and when the Soviets collapsed that lease was made null and void thereby returning the Crimea back to Russian hands. This Ukraine crap is the biggest money Laundering and theft of American Tax dollars in history and the Democrats are getting away with it.

So Hodges confirms that Russia did not blow up its own pipelines nor its land bridge to Crimea.

Yet he still wants us to believe that Putin thinks “Hope” is a strategy.

Meh.
