My dad was a piano player and told he would when he was 12 never make it as a pro player,his wife was a pro with the BSO and told me in confidence that he was mislead.That said,he had a piano in Boston/Vermont/Florida,all Steinway matches and he flew his tuner to all homes to keep them identical.

It’s very real. The benches go up and down. We had a local Chinese girl that was just as good as this kid. She won all the local competitions, and made it to the states, and also won all of those competitions. Watching her was like watching Amadeus. She made it to Carnegie hall, playing, at age 14 or so. I think that is far as she ever got,and probably the highlight of her life. She also made it to the figure skating competition in the US after only two years of skating. She was also an excellent dancer, a straight A student, and a 100% knockout #10 when she grew up. She was the most talented person I ever met. I would like to say she grew up happily ever after. But that is not the case. I hear she has big time depression issues.
I saw Alma Deutscher at Carnegie Hall. Unfortunately, she is Covid vaccinated, which may rob the world of a great talent. I hope not.
