Has Putin’s delay in using sufficient force to terminate the Ukraine conflict made Russian victory impossible by US threat to use nuclear weapons?
I warned that Putin’s drawn-out “limited” war would greatly widen the war. With the latest declaration of US nuclear strategy, Washington says it will respond with nuclear weapons to a non-nuclear threat if Washington thinks US and NATO security is involved. Some officials have said that it is not in Washington’s national security interest for Russia to prevail in Ukraine. The implication is that Washington would respond with nuclear weapons.

Clearly, A Russian victory in Ukraine would increase the perceived Russian threat. That is why the Kremlin needed an immediate and decisive victory before the West could become so heavily committed that a Russian victory could ignite nuclear war. It is becoming ever more clear that Putin’s go-slow, limited military intervention was a strategic blunder. In my opinion the blunder resulted from Putin permitting Western propaganda to constrain Russia’s response to the threat in Ukraine. Consequently, Washington has escalated to the point of the threshold to nuclear war. As I recently pointed out, Western governments are making no effort to de-escalate the conflict. What makes you think it would have played out any differently if Putin used the old “shock and awe” tactic PCR is proposing? It would have given NATO the green light to move in. These warmongers would have done to Ukraine what they did in Southeast Asia, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and Syria using the same rational, the same playbook with the same results only this time using nuclear weapons .
