It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Disagree with the George Elliot quote. I’ve seen old broads acting like teen girls, pretending from some dumb self-help book that they can do it all over and be sillier and sluttier this time. Life’s short. Better start now:

FROM the Woods video: “According to Dr. Robert Epstein, adolescence is an artificial construct of recent vintage, unknown in earlier times or indeed in many parts of the world today. The creation of this category, and the assumptions that inform it (by state and society alike) have harmed young people, he argues, and are responsible for the anxiety and angst we associate with the teenage years. These problems are not evident in cultures that lack this category.”

Most societies in the past had no or little teen aged years. Why? because their lives were short.
Much shorter than modern times. They married very young, had kids, died around 25-30. Old age was 30+ and not many lived past that at times. Arranged marriages were commonplace and sometimes the rule with older men marrying young girls as young a 12 in many cultures. This was very common back then for financial and other security. I may add that the children were much much more mature than kids today. A boy was expected to work and carry on his fathers trade, building or farming. A girl was raised & taught to keep house, cook, do chores, tend animals and be a wife and have babies.
It is a different world today. Past cultures do not blend with today’s mindset. Neither do 3rd world cultures and ideals.

“Adolescence is a relatively recent thing in human history — a period of years between the constraints of childhood and the responsibilities of adulthood. This irresponsible period of adolescence is artificially extended by long years of education, much of it wasted on frivolities. Tenure extends adolescence even further for teachers and professors.” ~Thomas Sowell
