Kremlin Vows To Take Out Patriot Batteries If US Sends To Ukraine

Via ZeroHedge

Russia has responded Wednesday to the prior day report from Pentagon sources that the Biden administration is finalizing plans to send Patriot anti-air defense missiles to Ukraine, in what will constitute the longest range defense systems transferred from the West to date.

“The Kremlin said on Wednesday that U.S. Patriot missile defense systems would be a legitimate target for Russian strikes against Ukraine, should the United States authorize them to be delivered to support Kyiv,” Reuters reports.

The Russian military has long sought to target both Western arms depots inside Ukraine, as well as inbound shipments traversing the country, which is part of the reason why early on in the invasion it heavily targeted the national rail network.

Deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev posted the following warning statement directed at the US to his Telegram account (machine translation):

“If, as Stoltenberg hinted, NATO supplies Kyiv fanatics with Patriot complexes along with NATO personnel, they will immediately become a legitimate target of our Armed Forces. I hope the Atlantean impotents understand this.”

As for potential delivery of Patriot systems, The Washington Post reports according to the latest, “The plan is not yet approved by President Biden or Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, but it could be soon, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to detail sensitive internal deliberations.”

An initial CNN report said approval could come as early as this week, but it could take a significant amount of time to train the Ukrainians on the sophisticated Patriots’ operation. Training would likely occur in Germany and could take months.

The Washington Post notes further that the “Patriot-launched missiles can fly to altitudes as high as 79,000 feet, with an operational range, depending on the type of munition used, from a dozen to 100 miles, for use against ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as aircraft. It was not clear what kind of munitions the Pentagon will propose supplying.”

Range largely depends on the specific missile munition used, and it’s possible the Pentagon could limit ranges – as it reportedly did with HIMARS recently shipped to Ukraine, in order to prevent its systems being used by the Ukrainians to strike inside of Russia.

Telling your opponent what you’re going to do IN ADVANCE is not the act of a war monger. It’s the act of someone who desperately wants to avoid what’s coming.

It’s the act of a person trying to talk a lunatic back to reality.

Could be. There are some sane people in the Pentagram. Another possibility, though, is that the Patriot missiles are already in the Ukraine and CNN was just tasked with letting people know ahead of their first use (probably by NATO personnel).

Supposedly Russia has now deployed ICBM nukes outside of Moscow, aimed at the US.

“in order to prevent its systems being used by the Ukrainians to strike inside of Russia.”
Considering it came out that the US ordered and helped Ukraine strike the airfields deep in Russia, I doubt it.

Putin is doing his part to make sure Ukraine money keeps flowing to the oligarchs. The SMO was just another example of #twoweeks grift.

Not that I would have any problem with Russia buying and using drones from Iran, but I’ve not yet seen evidence that the drones are made in Iran. Where are the pictures of Farsi lettering? Russia says they’re using “Geran-2” drones made in Russia (from Iranian design). In other words, Russian-built Shahed 136’s.

I hope Russia can use a Kinzhal or three to take out multiple Patriot batteries as soon as they cross into the Ukraine. I suppose they would need cloud-free skies for their satellites to see the deliveries being made. Cloud-free skies would also expose the Russian planes taking off inside Russia, since Kinzhals are are-to-surface missiles, so they might need to keep some of their jets aloft to make their looming use of kinzhals less obvious.

Just an ignorant guy speculating.

Very cordial war we got. Biten so polite telling the Russians what were gonna do and give them 3 months to prepare while getting them to Ukraine and training so they can actually use them in 6 months to a year. Seems this war is just theater keeping people afraid of the hypersonic Putin pocket rocket death star to showering us with nukes.

Here’s Brian Berletic’s take on the Patriot missiles. He generally reads mainstream news articles and DoD press releases and catches them accidentally releasing some important data points that he then puts in context. He also remembers what they’ve said in the past so he can contrast their statements. He collates info from years ago about, say, US artillery shell production rates and intelligence community speculation about Russian artillery shell production rates. He’s pretty anti-US government, but at this point, who isn’t other than dumbshits?

The same Patriots that “at best” hit <5% of SCUDS?

Somewhere in Russia a bunch of military techs just peed themselves laughing.

Arguably that was a long time ago and they could theoretically have been improved (although I doubt it). The Patriot system also hasn’t worked well against the missiles the Houtis have been firing into Saudi Arabia.

True. But it won’t be a few 1980’s era SCUDs this time either.

The Patriots have undoubtedly been improved, but even if 200% better (unlikely) than they were, still pretty useless.

A dozen drones plus a few cheap unguided missiles first, then the newer stuff following it in for effect and the Patriots will be overwhelmed easily. A handful of Patriots in an area are going to do little for long.
