US Believes Ukraine Can Retake Crimea, But May Provoke Nuclear Escalation

Authored by Kyle Anzalone via AntiWar.com,

The White House believes Ukraine’s military could retake the Crimean Peninsula from Russia. However, officials say the offensive may cross Moscow’s “red lines” and prompt a nuclear strike.

The Biden administration has radically changed its view of Kiev’s military since Russia invaded nearly ten months ago. The Ukrainians “continue to shock the world with how well they’re performing on the battlefield,” an unnamed official said.

The White House now assesses that the Ukrainian armed forces are capable of retaking Crimea, with NBC News reporting that statements to that effect were made to lawmakers during a Congressional hearing last month. The administration official was attempting to explain to Congress why Kiev still needs American support.

The Crimean Peninsula was a region of Ukraine before it was annexed by Russia in 2014. While a referendum of Crimean citizens backed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision, Kiev and Washington assert the peninsula still belongs to Ukraine.

Sources reached by NBC News said the White House believes Putin will respond sharply to a successful Ukrainian offensive in Crimea. “Putin may react more strongly to Crimea,” one official said, while a former administration staffer added “That’s the red line.”

The White House does not believe Ukrainian military operations in Crimea to be imminent. “A lot would have to happen militarily first” before Ukraine could begin a real offensive to retake Crimea, an official stated.

However, the Biden administration has been surprised by some of Ukraine’s most advanced military operations.

Two US officials and an American defense staffer said the White House was caught off guard and frustrated after Kiev launched a series of three drone attacks strikes deep inside Russian territory.

Senate Passes Massive $858 Billion NDAA

The $858 billion bill is $45 billion more than Biden asked for and represents an 8% increase from the 2022 NDAA. It marks the second year in a row that Congress added tens of billions of dollars to the president’s original request, as massive military spending is popular on both sides of the aisle…

The NDAA will ramp up tensions with Russia and China as it includes amendments that will help the US send more arms to Ukraine and Taiwan. One measure will give the Pentagon wartime purchasing powers by allowing non-competitive, multi-year contracts for certain arms. The authority could be used to refill US stockpiles, arm Ukraine, and assist foreign governments that have provided support for Ukraine.

Ukraine will also receive $800 million in the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative from the NDAA, a program that allows the US government to purchase weapons for Kyiv. The vast majority of aid for Ukraine will still be authorized as emergency funds, and the White House is currently seeking an additional $37.7 billion, which is expected to be included in an omnibus spending bill Congress wants to pass before the end of the year.

Defense contractors sponsor ritzy gala for Ukraine’s ambassador and DC elites

War is big business, and business is booming. The very same for-profit companies currently making a killing (no pun intended) off the conflict in Ukraine are now corporate sponsors for fancy shindigs where Ukrainian politicians can network with the people who hold the American purse strings — how fortuitous!

The logos of military contractors Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Pratt & Whitney, and Lockheed Martin were emblazoned on the invitation as the event’s sponsors, below the official Ukrainian emblems and elegant blue script that said the Ukrainian ambassador and defense attaché ‘request the pleasure of your company.’

See a copy of the invitation below:

This entire article is basically government propaganda bullshit. Ukrainians now make up less than half the forces on the ground according to military advisors. NATO is sending in troops to make up the difference and they they have been able to make no advances on the Russian defenses. Meanwhile Russia has amassed a huge army and is waiting for a major offensive by Ukraine that will result in a counterattack that will be decisive. NATO is getting desperate because time is not on their side. Desperation is a serious situation when this thing could turn nuclear if stupid decisions are made. Meanwhile the people of Europe are beginning to experience real pain over the energy costs and inflation that is devastating the lower classes, many of which are elderly. People do not tolerate misery well. Especially generations who have never known anything except comfort and ease.

US Believes Ukraine Can Retake Crimea

Well, we’ll add that to the list of all the other delusions it currently suffers from, shall we?

Who the hell knows what the US government believes? I’m sure there are a few who understand that the West can’t produce arms fast enough to match Russia – any more than we could suddenly make our own appliances. Most of them believe we can run the country on solar power and that men can become ladies. They probably think the Ukraine can conquer Crimea and all children can get a pony for Kwanza.

Obviously the pundits and parasites in the US actually believe the Russian Military is some sort of rag tag bush league morons they saw in a Rambo movie .
Well all you arm chair warriors and Joint Chiefs Of Wokism they are not anything less than a well trained and disciplined force .
If flattening Ukraine with complete disregard for civilians and general infrastructure this conflict would have been over in 72 hours and final mopping up in 30 to 60 days .
The Russians are there to aid the ethnic Russians who were being slaughtered by the Ukrainian Army NAZI Faction and the US IDIOTS STICKING THEIR RED WHITE AND BLUE DICKBEATERS ON IT ONLY MADE MATTERS WORSE !
Unless of course your family or political campaigns are getting kick backs from the billions of aid .
The US has violated or made end runs around every agreement with Russia and continues to do so dangling NATO as the next deadly move for Ukraine but what the heck the Biden’s are making bank

Russia needs a warm weather port to reach the Med and the worlds oceans. They will not give up Crimea as it has Sevastopol. Russia desires Odessa too. I don’t see Ukraine taking Crimea back even with us and western allies help.

Russia has taken approximately 100,000 square kilometres of former Ukraine territory, while the vaunted Ukraine offensive retook nearly 3,000 square kilometres of land back. The same American intelligence officers saying Ukraine can take Crimea back are probably the ones who thought western military forces were winning in Afghanistan, and Iraq!
