Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that he is preparing for war. The military budget will grow by about 7.2% this year after it has already doubled over the past decade. This is not a sudden decision. China has been quietly positioning itself for quite some time and has taken notes over Russia’s missteps with Ukraine. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is now drafting soldiers, and veterans and college-educated students will be at the top of the list.
Wars are now fought through intelligence and strategies rather than pure brute strength. The PLA is seeking out both women and men and is particularly interested in those with a STEM background. China’s announcement comes after Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul visited Taiwan to “provide deterrence to China.” Worse, McCaul told the international press that America would fight alongside Taiwan if Congress approved.
In typical political fashion, McCaul proposed a world war! “Taiwan is in a very different position from Ukraine,” McCaul said. “Number one, they’re not battle tested or ready. They are not prepared for war.” His solution? “When you look at Ukraine, they had NATO supporting them. You don’t have NATO in the Pacific,” he continued. “That’s why when looking at Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Australia, we need to start having these discussions as a deterrent for peace.”
Peace was never an option with Ukraine, and Zelensky made it known that he would not meet Moscow on any agreement. In fact, NATO and others directly helped Kiev break its promises to Moscow, such as France and Germany helping to broker the Minsk Agreement hoax to buy time for Ukraine to build up its military. China has a strategy and a mission.
Losing Taiwan would be seen as an unfathomable loss, and they are prepared to go to war against any nation that intervenes. The West has already stretched itself thin by hyper-fixating on Ukraine as their own economies crumble. Interestingly, US intelligence services believe China will invade Taiwan in 2027. The computer also indicates that a world war could peak as early as 2027, with 2024-2027 being a period of concern.

When the US entered WW ll the industrial base here was quickly converted to producing the implements and supplies for war. Auto plants made tanks, military trucks and jeeps. Fighter planes and bombers came off the assembly lines in huge numbers. The Singer Sewing Machine Co. was making M-1 rifles. Liberty ships were build to carry everything to Europe., including replacement parts and trained crews.
Now, our industrial base is hollowed out. We buy high strength bolts for military equipment…from China.
The US and Nato countries are digging deep to supply Ukraine and the reserves are low while Russia launches more shells in a day than the US can produce in a month.
We can’t even manufacture a silicone dildo lol.
Land war in Asia? We lose. Atomic war with China? Everybody loses!
Who really gets the say?
China doesn’t do anything without a long range plan. Having lived there for a while, and now Philippines, it seems laughable that the US thinks it will somehow out-maneuver China on Taiwan. Acheiving that would take decades of dedication, when we can barely think in 4-year increments. We will ‘lose’ Taiwan, the real question is whether the US will retreat to the second island chain or continue to flex muscles in the South China Sea and first island chain.
it should read: “..as a deterrent for war.”
or even: “..as a peaceful deterrent.”
why on earth would you want to deter peace?

even if by “for”, the author meant: “to maintain”, as in: “..as a deterrent to maintain peace.”, the way its currently written sounds like the goal is to deter peace.
any other meaning is ambiguous at best, and coming to a different conclusion requires further analysis of what is written beyond simply reading the sentence and assuming the first meaning that reflexively comes to mind is the meaning the author intended.
Australia is already lost to the Chinese. They allowed unlimited Chinese migration and wha-la.

I am an ethnic Chinese living abroad. As a libertarian, I am mostly against wars. However, over 98% of Mainland Chinese regard Taiwan as an indispensable part of China.
Taiwan is part of China. If they work with evil against China’s long term interests, I wouldn’t mind that Taiwan is bombed to stone age.
Wherever and whenever USA go, it becomes shit. Check: Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine.

Taiwan is China. That fact has never been disputed by anyone except the US Government which has no say in the matter. Even the Taiwan Constitution recognizes that Taiwan is a province of China, they just still have the phantasy that the RC is the ruler of all China.
China has no desire to go to war with itself. It is the US Government that dreams of Chinese killing Chinese.
If the US keeps instigating war, and keeps trying to pump weapons into Taiwan, it is very possible that it could find itself at war with China.
The problem with the US today is that the so called Deep State are a bunch of delusional lunatics that believe their own lies and bullshit. They have these grandiose plans to retain world domination despite the fact we are no longer the preeminent world power, and in spite of those plans being nonsensical they believe them with religious fervor.
These people are completely convinced that they are superior to the Russian’s and Chinese, and that they cannot and will not be defeated. Even while they are being defeated in Ukraine, they refuse to admit it and think if they spew enough propaganda that somehow that will all change. They are so demented they actually now believe that if they can has a single successful battle against Russia in this coming offensive, that will be enough to completely demoralize the entire Russian Nation and that it will rise up against Putin. I am serious. That is what their plan really is. The US is currently being run by neo-cons who are so detached from reality they are clinically insane.
