Why the heck would he stay there?
I think he was under some kind of house arrest or restriction on leaving.
After his last detainment – many months ago – he stated that the SBU told him they would leave him alone, but that he must remain in Kharkov.
He kept a low profile physically, even avoided going to a doctor or hospital while recovering from a recent motorcycle crash in which he fractured a rib.
He did not keep a low profile online, however, posting frequently and fearlessly on Youtube and Twitter (after his account was reinstated following Musk’s takeover). He also had several Patreon subscribers, although he didn’t seem to need money. They sometimes joined in near the end of his multi-hour ‘Roundtable’ discussions with invited guests on Youtube. For a while, he was backing up his Youtube videos on Rumble, but I don’t think he kept that up for long.
I think he might’ve been able to escape to Russia, being close to the border. Getting out of country to the west would’ve been difficult. His (ex?)-wife and children escaped to safety in the West shortly after the war started.
He seemed to enjoy the alternating boredom and stress of being in the war zone, and genuinely curious to see how the conflict ended. He really wanted to be there, and chose to risk his life with laughter and philosophy. He began chain-smoking cigarettes again, after many years of being nicotine-free.
He was working on a book that he planned to release for free.
I hope they release him, or deport him unharmed. His insights are great, and he helped a lot of us to “Understand what’s going on.”
His sarcasm sometimes was off putting for me but he really did tell it like he saw it. And, I think he hit close to the mark with most people involved.
Initially, I thought his commentary self-serving until I grasped that he got shut down/picked up by the SBU very early in the process for exposing the theatrical nature of the so-called attacks on Ukrainians. Bucha video comes to mind.
Anyway, I haven’t seen his last video but am sure he stepped on toes again. I hope this stint is as simply resolved as the last one.

Goat, that was the first thought that came to me.
Black pigeon had a round table about him, and they asked the same question. The thing that really bothered me is Lira would lump us Americans in together in the insanity of Ukraine, etc., but the last vid I watched, not that I was a fanboy, he actually corrected himself, so I give him kudos for that.
Seems that trans thing over there is who was pushing for his arrest. Not only it seems did it go from reporter to active military, but to secret police too. Supposedly it is going to be evolved in prosecuting him.
I don’t doubt it will come back here and continue its carrier for the scum here, not only to prosecute wrong think, but to help build a cadre from what it has learned over there.
Might be a good idea to mark the creature for future reference, as traumatic that might be.

Just called my two US senators – including democrat warmonger Amy Klobuchar – asking them to intervene on his behalf. So just they don’t think no one’s paying attention.
He’s no friend or fluffer of Uncle Stasi-Sam, so it’s hard for me to imagine any DemPublican approaching the Executive Branch to attempt an intercession. jmo

He came our with a great idea for early April.
