Putin is under a lot of criticism at home for holding back Russian forces and not attacking Ukraine with the kind of shock and awe campaign the US used to destroy Iraq. Putin like all politicians, is subject to the will of the people, and if the west continues to give Ukraine the ability to carry out strikes inside Russia, Putin will have no other choice at some point in the future than to attack Ukraine with the full might of the Russian army. Putin knows doing this will cause more problems than it will solve. Russia does not want to occupy Ukraine west of the Dnipro River, because that would be an insurgent nightmare. If he destroys Ukraine and does not occupy it, it is an invitation to the West to occupy Ukraine and establish NATO base’s, from which another war will be launched in the future.
The best scenario at this point would be for the US stock market to crash, taking Europe with it, and put an end to all support for Ukraine from the west. That would end the war fairly quickly. If the war continues to escalate, it could very easily go nuclear with a damaging strike inside Russia that would force their hand. Biden and the Neolibs are playing games with the end of the world as we know it.

Europe really has nothing to fight with conventionally. It would have to go nuclear within weeks.
The real problem is the west is becoming desperate. The joining of Russia and China is the worst nightmare for the west. Together they posses the natural resources and manufacturing capability to be the industrial giants of the world and relegate the US and Europe to being relatively insignificant.
They must either accept that reality, or declare war and try to defeat Russia and China. Given the advantage of Russia and China in the hypersonic technology field, I doubt the US and Europe can defeat them.
