Yep, that was my plans to live on the family property in WV. Unfortunately, I was in the minority about selling it. No place on earth I loved more dearly or that was more magical.
Would still love to be up an holler too, but it isn’t likely ever going to happen.
As I told 2nd daughter when we got this new place, I suspect this will be where I make my finale stand.

Not a bad start. I’d move there. A few questions…

The “leetle fren” (Scarface Pacino) game you propose is not the game, Abigail. People are the game. And controlling, monetizing, game is more efficiently accomplished when game animals are domesticated.

So the prey animals round up the game animals. And they corral them into geographic feedlots called countries.

Prey animals, in their herds, call those feedlots “home,” call the predators “founding fathers” (& mothers, too, Abigail Adams …), & mail Hallmark cards across the lot to each other.

That the prey animals are corrupt, criminal, sociopathic & cannibalistic is well-used gym equipment here at TBP.

That typical average ordinary Americans – people elsewhere just as much – are also corrupt seekers after “security” also gets lots of reps.

“Security” may not sound as much like that other bad corruption, but it is. Helen Keller was deaf & blind but still knew. You probably already know what she said about security.

What I’ll add is that expecting 3rd parties to provide that, & that whatever they do provide (or seem to) will ~~ can ~~ ever net positive for you, for anyone (including those same can’t help themselves dumbass predators) … that data, reams & reams of it, is in: Impossible.

Completely utopian, that.

How many countries are there currently? How many have come & gone before this current batch? Like religions, are countries. No matter how much failure, there’s always more in the budget for more of the same.

Every permutation’s already been done. Many times. Yet the predators continue to sucker the succor-seeking prey.

So country designing is irrelevant (but for all the time & treasure it wastes). It’s people designing that I’d have to engage in to play the game you ask. Lots of Frankenstein freaks are engaged in that effort, & have been since the get. Better & better domestication is all it is.

I can’t do it. Want no part of it.

Neither can the predators do it. Thus the one long succession of failure.

But all that succor-tash laid out before them just soaks their sheets & gives them complete religious faith in their hard-on divining rods. And rule of thumb wife-beating rods. “Might makes right” is the rite of the not too brite … no matter what the iq might be.

I don’t need, or want the fake succor-soma, either. I doubt I’m the only one, even if I might be the only such one that posts here.

Passion? Cool. That is still emotion. Also cool. I’m not Spock, or a Spock-stumper.

But strong emotion seeking security … from those that are only interested in securitizing you …that’s one side of reichsmarks counterfeit currency (among other variations of the same thing, tri-color sambo included ) & seig heil shit is the other.

Not me.

What I can do, that is in the realm of reality-possibility, is get as far, far from the madding crowd as possible.

So that’s what I’m in charge of building: getting the f outta Dodge.

I have been in charge of other things.

Including of the building of other things.

Real, actual things (which, parent/hetical, countries aren’t … & despite “render unto Caesar,” seems to me more of ya’ll Kingdom of God people ought to know that, at least as much as I do: countries is heretical bullshit … & the so-called leaders are followers nearer the front, even if just figuratively, than the back).

Including too, figuratively, of light brigades, from a very young age. Could have gone literal, but it didn’t. Never has to go any particular way. Luck has everything to do with everything.

There are undeniable opportunity costs to putting away childish things while still a child – but there are op-costs the other direction, too. Higher costs, by far, I’d say. I’d also say history backs that assertion, too. Extended childhoods are expensive. Permanent childhoods are really expensive.

Domestication is permanent childhood.

The domesticators are not domesticated. Are not of good character. Are not moral. Are fiends – not friends.

So … namesake hubby’s famous quote is, yet another, inversion. “Our constitution was made only for a moral & religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

It is known what the constitutional convention was, what those “fathers” did. That ilk certainly needs what passes for “moral & religious” people to mulct. But actual moral people do not need them, or their jumped up pretty-sounding words tyranny. **

The things people take for granted, need to be bedrock foundational, like countries & other attachments, well, I don’t know if all that boilerplate mantle floats on molten rock, or is just scabs over the void where the Morlocks live, but I do know it’s not solid.

And you do know sinkholes can swallow Texas.
