WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of his administration’s expanding efforts to celebrate Pride Month, President Joe Biden has announced the Iwo Jima memorial will be updated to feature the Pride flag.
“This flag is now the most revered symbol in our nation,” Biden said during his announcement. “It’s only right for the Iwo Jima memorial to be updated to represent the brave men and women and non-men and non-women and those other things who are fighting even more bravely than the soldiers of World War II. These fellas with breasts who were on my lawn — they’re the true warriors. Chocolate chip braggleflurven!”
The Iwo Jima memorial, which since 1954 has commemorated all fallen United States Marines and is well-known for its iconic depiction of six Marines raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi, will also be renovated to show the six members of the disco group the Village People raising a rainbow flag atop a glittering, pink pedestal. “It’s SUCH an upgrade!” said Katniss Sparkleshine, the artist commissioned by Biden to overhaul the statue. “Out with that old, ugly statue of white colonizers and in with an explosion of fabulous LGBTQ+ flair! Take that, conservatives! Why are you so obsessed with us, you Nazis?!”
Critics of the change being made to the statue immediately gathered in protest but were quickly subdued, arrested, and charged with hate crimes.
At publishing time, updates to the memorial were scheduled to be completed before the end of the month, with recording artist Lizzo tapped to host the rededication ceremony.

Can’t say I like the Old Glory replaced by the so called ‘pride’ jive flag. The parody picture goes one step to far & itself is a HUGE insult to our courageous vets who bled & were maimed & died there. And everywhere else US vets did the same.
I also don’t appreciate the ‘Flag Shirts’ that are advertised as ‘patriotic’. I can handle Old Glory ON a shirt, but I think using our flag AS a shirt is disrespectful.
I didn’t serve, I couldn’t pass the physical. I’d been seriously injured in high school & was disqualified from serving.
I had school mates who served in ‘Nam. Our flag & our fighters deserve more respect than being replaced, even in jest, by the ‘pride’ flag crap. Same for using our flag as a garment. Our flag needs to be respected to SHOW respect for our brave warriors, men & women.

My granddad was a boiler mechanic on a sub chaser in WWII. He was also a sharpshooter (his job was killing sharks that circled around the sailors as they floated in the water awaiting rescue). He watched the Marines raise the flag on Iwo Jima through a pair of binoculars, the actual event, not the staged photo op. It was the only war story you could get him to talk about. He took great pride in those men and his service to this country.
I recently watched a documentary entitled Everything is a Rich Mans Truck.
They didn’t get everything right of course, but close enough. I doubt that if my granddad were still alive, I would have the heart to share it with him. My granddad wouldn’t be able to wrap his mind around it, much less what has become of his country in the days since the war to end all wars.
The stage, it’s all staged, has been set for a massive swing of the pendulum. It was Voltaire who is credited with saying, “those who can convince you to believe in absurdities can convince you to commit atrocities”. It’s a rather loose paraphrase of a much darker and more revealing observation. Look it up at your leisure.
Kipling penned a gem about the Saxon beginning to hate, I believe that is where this is all heading. Be warned, if you can be convinced that bloodlust is the answer, you’re asking the wrong questions. I’m not suggesting that we refuse to defend ourselves when the shit goes down, I’m a man, I know my duty.
I am suggesting, nay, insisting, that nationalism is idolatry. America is a myth, patriotism is yet another form of control. Maybe it wasn’t always this way. But at this point, there are no white hats, no one is coming to your rescue, and you aren’t going to vote your way out of this. The Republic has fallen. We should be preparing to rebuild, not retake. And praying that this is even an option.
The only kingdom that really matters is not of this world, it never has been. This is my humble opinion. Draw your own conclusions, and God Bless.
Well, while I’m sentient, leave me the F alone. I loved what was America’s myth until it got destroyed.
Tell me, what myth on earth was better? Until the F*ing Yankees destroyed The South, we had it.
Those of us who embraced the myth, as I did, are the very ones who tolerated it’s destruction. Let that sink in. Either we were too captivated with our own prosperity to see what was going on, or we saw and turned a blind eye as the forces of evil slowly eroded away everything that made the Republic great.
We allowed Viet Nam, when Korea should have taught us not to trust the MIC. We let them get away with murdering our president in broad daylight. We sat by as a corrupt court sanctioned the sacrifice of our unborn on the altar of satanic self interest. We did nothing as they shipped our jobs overseas, after all, I still had my job. We endured every offense, we excused every illicit behavior. We entrusted our wealth and our freedom to the most vile and corrupt among us. And we did nothing.
We are all, at least those of us “sentient” enough to know better, culpable in this atrocity. To believe otherwise is the height of self delusion. Rome burned while we fiddled away at our keyboards.
There is still hope, but not for the Republic. Perhaps it will be reborn, but if we do not change our hearts, if we too are not reborn, then whatever we may be able to resurrect from the ashes will eventually suffer the same fate, or something much worse.
There’s no one to blame but ourselves, this is justice. Divine justice, as if there were any other kind.
